To a slave holder or a capital owner, losing control over private appropriation of socialized labor of their workers is extremism.

Denying all facts and evidence to insist that Marxism is correct, is in fact, extremism, yes

What exactly are you talking about? Modern day economists have completely and totally disregarded Marxism. Even self-described Marxist economists do not believe in things like the Labor Value of Theory because it's hogwash. They don't fall for "red scares and embargoes" seeing as they've spent their lives studying the topic

u/DifferentPirate69 15h ago
You aren't saying anything, just implying vague things.

u/BidenGlazer 15h ago
I'd say claiming economists totally disregarding Marxism is a concrete claim, as is self-prescribed Marxist economists not believing in LVT.
Your argument was literally just "no bro, I'm right, they've just fallen for propaganda!!"

Yes, because communism ruined many countries, and we need to stop communism from ruining ours.

u/DifferentPirate69 15h ago
Goes back to my first point. Why do you think they fought to preserve slavery?
0
u/ItsAzien United States 15h ago
They lose all the money they put into buying slaves if slavery is abolished.
But I don't know how that's relevant to the failure of societies that tried to follow Marxist theories.

u/DifferentPirate69 15h ago
The money they put in was also not clean, colonialism and theft.
Maintaining class society is similar in a relatively bigger scale, there will always be those who oppose classes, which creates commodification or disposal of people for labor for the sake of a fundamentalism towards capital which inturn protects the privilege of capital owners.

This doesn't discredit the form of society.

They don't have to work for such capital owners. People don't have to buy from capital owners. Investing capital is inherently risky and if it doesn't return profit eventually, you invest more or you accept loss. With this risk, investors are entitled to control a share of a corporation.
The "privilege of capital owners" do not come from nowhere. It comes with the risk of failures.

It is what formed it. Marx put it quite good "capital comes dripping from head to foot, from every pore, with blood and dirt"
The risk a capital owner takes is not become a worker. The risk a worker takes is give them a part of their lifetime, with equal if not more risks to produce a surplus for them or be replaced from a means of subsistence. In a class society, where socially necessary resources are privately controlled, these social relations are independent of their will, a marxist merely points how these came about, show it doesn't have to be this way and wants to push towards changing those conditions.
This entitlement is layers of ideology acting on itself.

Some good points for clarification:
1. I am not opposed to capitalism with a welfare state.
2. People should be able to form workers controlled companies if they wanted. When a worker works for a owner, he or she receives guaranteed compensation for it. It could be in wages as well as in other benefits, but usually if one works in x hours, they must be compensated for those hours with the agreed wages. He doesn't face the same uncertainty as, say, putting one's money in a business.
In addition, the other Marxist argument is that workers are paid for less than the value of their work. This argument overlooks the capitalists' ability to provide the means of the production for the workers, as well as organizing and overseeing the logistics of production. A worker is perfectly free to form their own mean of production in a market economy, but some finds it more economically optimal to work under a capitalist instead.

My Extremism = Good Their Extremism = Bad

Many good things we have now that we consider the status quo were once extremist, like a 5-day workweek. Extremism can be very good
-4
u/ilikefriedpotatoes00 16h ago
I don't remember mass murders and other horrible things happening to implement them.
4
u/CuriousInformation48 16h ago
Extremism does not mean mass murders and violence. It just means holding political opinions that are far from the status quo. That can be very bad, like with nazis, or it can be very good, like with the suffragettes and the first workers rights advocates

Look up the Haymarket Affair... people literally fought and before that people died from the conditions.

u/Rare_Dance7130 7h ago
Blair Mountain. You just weren't taught about these things because teaching you about them would make it harder to preserve the status quo.

what is extremism? black rights fighters were deemed extremists, suffragettes were deemed extremists, 8 hour workday supporters were deemed extremists. Yet i don’t think they are bad aren’t them?

Most of the time, unless you already live in an extremely bad environment that warrants a revolution because your living conditions are in the gutter or some slave revolt
-1
u/ilikefriedpotatoes00 16h ago
In that case it's fighting the extremism.
1
u/x_asperger 16h ago
Unless you're from the country that started it, now that's a group of terrorists who attacked for 0 reason...
2
u/x_asperger 16h ago
It's only bad when it's not how I'm extremist /s I've been called communist and facist for believing in human rights and living in Canada, so it really depends on who's idea of extremist were using.

u/swampman23512 16h ago
I don't think you know what extremism is. It is such a nebulous term.
1
u/MayaPolska 14h ago
Yeah OP is just screaming that everything he doesn't like is extremism and every good change in history was fighting extremism

Yeah, but in a real democracy they should be allowed to participate if they are submissive to the system and non-violent
1
u/ilikefriedpotatoes00 16h ago
We want to peacefully strip you of your property.
We want to peacefully commit genocide.
Are you sure?

Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice, moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

Really depends on the circumstance. I'm sure the French thought the peasants extreme during the revolution.

I'd rather be considered extreme than comply with tyrants.
