That, plus for people who use eBay as a storefront for their business, it costs money to post new listings, so instead of removing something when they’re out of stock and making a new one when they get more, they’ll sometimes change the price to something astronomical (so no one will buy it), then bring the price back down once they get more stock in.

eBay shouldn’t allow such nonsense. If a kid were to click that it could be a binding contract. That’s exactly why it’s listed and priced that way. They hope someone makes a mistake.
