I've been making batches of 6 random characters at a time lately. I thought it might be interesting to create a Rank 6 character and then strip the character Rank by Rank all the way to Rank 1.

This gave me the idea for Narrators out there that it would be interesting to have players do the same thing. Then you could do a time-travel campaign where the characters are at different levels throughout the adventure.

Tweaking this slightly. The Narrotor could assign a year to each Rank. That way if the Narrator says, "You traveled to the year 2072," the players know to pull out the sheets for 2072, which may correspond to Rank 5.

Just a thought, that I thought I'd share.

For this character I was thinking of a spider that somehow became sentient and later bonded with Venom.

Envisioning a magic student studying the element of ice. She eventually bonds with a Knull symbiote and their ice power is enhanced to produce something similar to the Icy Tendrils of Ikthalon.

High Tech: Android Rank 1 Law Enforcer. Traits – Tech Reliance, Interrogation, Investigation, Skeptical. Tags – A.I., Extreme Appearance (common), Authority, Backup. M 1, A 2 R 1, V 0, E 0, L 1. Powers – Venom Blast, Webcasting, Razorwebs, Venom Bash.

Can stop characters with his webbing or venom, but he’s still one of the good guys.

Character #4 – Average size Female

Mythic Rank 1 Leader. Traits – Presence, Legal Eagle. Tags – Supernatural, Authority, Powerful. M 0, A 0 R 1, V 1, E 0, L 3. Powers – Spider-Sense, Spider-Pheromones, Spider-Dodge, Additional Limbs.

For this character I was thinking someone looking like the Golden Spider, the Christmas tradition of how tinsel came to be. Perhaps she leads her country and knows the laws there.

Character #5 – Average size Male

Alien Rank 2 Scientist. Traits – Inventor, Scientific Expertise. Tags – Alien Heritage, Extreme Appearance (common), Lab Access. M 0, A 1 R 2, V 2, E 3, L 2. Powers – Wallcrawling, Stick Around, Blink, Teleport 1, Telespot, Jump 1, Accuracy 2.

This character can cause enemies to stick to the floor, then jump away and attack for a mini-portal.

Character #6 – Average size Female

Weird Science: Gamma Mutate Rank 2 Scientist. Traits – Weird, Connections: Criminal, Signature Attack (Evil Eye), Unusual Size (Huge), Iron Will. Tags – Extreme Appearance (common in gamma mutate form), Green Door, Immunity: Gamma Radiation, Radioactive, Streetwise, Villainous (common). M 1, A 3 R 2, V 1, E 1, L 2. Powers – Webcasting, Webgrabbing, Jinx You, Evil Eye, Venom Blast, Venom Sword, Venom Bash, Healing Factor.

A gamma-mutated character that cast webs and use venom as an offensive weapon. Also can give her enemies the evil eye, making it more difficult for the enemies’ attacks to hit.

Each year, I celebrate the anniversary of my first character pack (and the release of the core rulebook) by releasing a sequel to my first two character packs, Hydra and AIM. This year August ended up being busier than I expected, and the massive Aliens and Creatures 13 pack took more time than I expected. Plus, I’m hard at work on a Planet Hulk pack that’s looking pretty big too. That said, August isn’t over yet! The 4th AIM pack will be coming soon, but for now here’s a new pack full of Hydra baddies. The general themes for this pack are new kinds of grunt soldiers, weird science experiments, and demonically empowered villains. I’ve also thrown in some new vehicles, which should help Hydra bring swarm tactics to a massive scale. Most of these sheets are balanced to fight low-to-mid rank villains, but with aerial transport they can turn into an Avengers-level threat.

Lady Hellbender! This Rank 4 build represents Marguerite Hellbender as a formidable alien warrior and monster hunter, emphasizing the physical strength and combat skill she demonstrated during her battle with Brawn. I used Brawn (Amadeus Cho’s) official build as a comparative benchmark, particularly for Hellbender’s physical capabilities, since the two have directly fought one another in the comics.

The build focuses on her physical prowess. Mighty 2, Sturdy 2, and Super-Strength powers to establish her as a powerful close-range combatant, while her Martial Arts and melee weapon powers reflect her experience as a warrior. Her distinctive bladed and club-like weapons are represented separately to capture the varied arsenal she employs in battle. Are there any official rules for creating your own vehicles?

I know there are rules for iconic items, battle suits, and headquarters.

E.g. Heightened Senses 2 + Darkness/Mists of Munnopoor etc. to keep others from attacking the character while they can fight just fine

Or Bump Power to guarantee conditions on attacks like stun or paralysis

Or any sort of grab attack and Dimensional Travel Together to dump a target in Hell or somewhere worse

Or stuff like Staff of One that lets you spend hp on powers + Healing Factor

I'm a new-ish player playing a rank 2 symbiote with stretchy and some spider/powers, but I feel like not only is combat repetitive and not super fun, but I keep getting my ass kicked.

I run within punching range and spam melee (sure, I describe each blow and try to make it narratively interesting, but mechanically, it's just spamming melee). This feels repetitive and gets me hurt, but I don't see a lot of other combat-specific options for me. I tried say "I leg sweep my opponent" but I found out that's actually a power specific to martial arts characters. The Narrator and I agreed that my leg sweep would just be a reflavored melee attack.

I suspect that I'm just approaching combat the wrong way. Is it me that's boring during combat, or is it my build, or is it the system?

Maybe I need to be more innovative, try to throw dirt in my enemies' eyes, or pick up and throw more things? Just try to find other things to do besides spam melee...

Midnight Sun! This Rank 6 build represents M’Nai after his transformation into Midnight Sun, combining the deadly discipline of Fu Manchu’s finest assassin with the physical enhancements of his Kree-created body. Does a microscopic character have normal range on powers that have a range, such as Elemental Blast on p. 95 of the Core book, or do they have a range of 0 spaces?

I'm going to make Space Ghost at Rank 5 but I've got a question regarding how to handle his gauntlets. He is pretty reliant on gadgets (power bands and inviso-belt) so I assume I would want to make them iconic items with the Tech Reliance trait. With Tech Reliance you can choose to sacrifice those items to drop to 1 HP instead so I'm thinking to balance things out I should count both gauntlets as 1 item so you can't abuse the 1 HP rule. Am I right in thinking this? Unsure how to properly apply these to gadget oriented characters.

I just came from FedEx and it seems the exported PDF from the prints are cut midway through. Is there a better way to print out henchmen?

I also went on the Marvel website and find the sheets they have there to be bad because I can't get enough on the powers section for the full power or shrink the font. So far my only answer to this is to just put the power and look them up during games.

Anyone found a way to put an entire power name and its ability on sheets for Henchmen?

Another set of 6 random, unfinished characters. This time I used some rules from the X-Men expansion.

Character #1 – Average size Female/Male

Mutant Rank 1 Health Care Worker. Traits – Clinician (F), First Aid (F), Venomous (M). Tags – Hounded, X-Gene, Alternate Form. M 2, A 0 R 1, V 0, E 0, L 2. Powers – Heightened Senses (F) and Wisecracker (F). Hit & Run (M) and Riposte (M).

For this character I was thinking maybe a female doctor/surgeon that has a mutation that causes them to turn into a man that enjoys causing pain to others. Both forms would use the same medical knives, which are extremely sharp. This character is not a trans-character.

Character #2 – Little size Male

Mutant: Artificial Rank 1 Spy. Traits – Connections: Espionage, Leverage, Unusual Size. Tags – Hounded, Mutant Associate, Black Market Access. M 0, A 1 R 0, V 0, E 2, L 2. Powers – Illumination, Static Illusion, Elemental Burst (Energy), and Accuracy 1.

This character I was thinking may have been created in some way. Had to take Illumination to get Static Illusion. I was thinking they would create an illusion and while the enemy is distracter, blast them with energy.

Character #3 – Average size Male

Mutant Rank 1 Adventurer. Traits – Fearless, Connections: Super Heroes, Battle Ready. Tags – Hounded, X-Gene, Black Market Access. M 1, A 4 R 1, V 1, E -1, L -1. Powers – Webcasting, Suppressive Fire, Double Tap, and Agility 1.

Here I was thinking this character could restrain their foes with webbing and then shoot at them. Have not decided what type of ranged weapon this character might have.

Character #4 – Small size Male

Mutant: External Rank 1 Military. Traits – External Awareness, Battle Ready, Connections: Military, Situational Awareness, Small. Tags – Externally Immortal, Hounded, X-Gene, Backup. M 3, A 0 R 1, V 1, E 0, L 0. Powers – Vicious Attack, Extended Reach 1, Fast Strikes, Brawling.

This character I was seeing a seemingly non-threatening character, until they stretch out their arms to attack at what would still be their melee range.

Character #5 – Average size Varies

Alien: Brood Rank 2 Military. Traits – Fearless, Hive Mind, Infector, Venomous, Combat Expert, Surprising Power. Tags – Alien Heritage, Extreme Appearance, Villainous. M 4, A 2 R 2, V 2, E 1, L 1. Powers – Additional Limbs, Flight 1, Mighty 1, Sturdy 1, Slow-Motion Dodge, Venom Blast.

I was envisioning a brood that could blast a target with venom either from the Brood’s tail or mouth.

Mutant Rank 2 Criminal. Traits – Connections: Criminal, Sneaky, Loner, Battle Ready. Tags – Hounded, X-Gene, Black Market Access, Streetwise. M 2, A 2 R 2, V 2, E 1, L 1. Powers – Intuition, Precognition, Danger Sense, Disguise, Accuracy 2, Evasion, Flight 1, and Copy Power.

Here I was thinking of a character that could change their appearance at will, fly away, and easily evade others. But if they got caught in a situation, they’d be able to copy a power from anyone nearby.

What characters did you all use for the earlier chapters of this premade adventure? Especially the level one stuff.

Halloween decore at $Tree is pretty great this year

Some of you may have seen me mention this a few months ago, but I'm looking to populate Earth-513's Multiverse with half a dozen alternate universes featuring folks from this community and various other folks from the TTRPG community. The idea would be for me to invite you (virtually) to partake in a session I would narrate of your world right before your first incursion.

This means your hero (villain?) will have to decide, with your other fellow players, what to do. Save your world? Save the other world? Find a way to save both? Or take care of your final business as your world and universe come to an end.

SPOILERS!

Due to it taking place within the context of our current active Actual Play, you have to be ok that your world and characters are background characters to the main story. This means you are more likely to die within your one shot or potentially never be featured again (TBD!) but I'll make sure you have a lot of fun regardless!

IMPORTANT FOR APPLICATION

1. It's important for me that you have an Actual Play up with a few episodes. This doesn't have to be Marvel related mind you! I'm sure you're a lovely bunch of humans, but since we are telling a story, I have to make sure your personality and general professionalism fits with our current cast. Please no hard feelings if it's not a fit, this is purely because my initial loyalty is to my players and my current audience so I want to be careful with this decision. I'm looking for strongly empathetic people that Don't take themselves too seriously, are in it to have fun, and have solid charisma on camera. By that I mean someone who won't be grumpy, too quiet, too shy. I'm absolutely ok for their to be introverts. We're a bunch at our table. But I'd like you to feel comfortable interacting with us and the camera to allow for good entertainment for our viewers. Also folks that are in it for them and steal other people's spotlight don't apply. I want this to be a balanced experience for all!

2. Of course, you have to be comfortable being recorded and streamed on our show either live or pre-recorded (TBD).

3. I unfortunately can't compensate, as we're doing this as a hobby, but if we do ever get profitable and actually make something from our shows and we gel enough that you become a recurring guest star I could reconsider this. I just want to be transparent that at (currently) 150 subscribers we're quite far from profitable.

4. I will however use the collab feature on YouTube to link to your channel (another reason I'm focused on folks that have a YouTube or Stream) and will give your channel multiple shout outs and love throughout.

5. For the exact same reason, I will NOT charge for this game. Think of it as a mutual promotion. Though for transparency our following is small for now as mentioned.

6. Before you make your decision, take the time to watch a few of our videos. I want to make sure you have a good time and you'll note that my Narrator style is VERY narrative. I am very rules lite, my table is heavily focused on improv and narrative flair. But we can negotiate this together if you'd prefer the rules to be a bit more strict when you're around. I totally respect that. I just have a bad memory and much prefer to play organically on my feet but I'm willing to adjust.

7. To apply you can respond in this thread, sell your pitch of why you feel you're a solid fit or PM me if you're shy I'm fine with it either way.

8. this is really important for me, I care deeply about my table, my players, this game, so I ask that you share the same respect and in exchange I promise to be a solid empathetic narrator that will make sure you have a good time.

9. EST time is ideal to avoid conflicting schedules but if you're willing to work around that time zone. We can figure something out. We typically film on weekends due to our busy lives but can also adjust accordingly.

10. This will be a heavily improvised session. I will use the dice to determine the details you and your table don't flesh out and will add my flair here and there were appropriate but I really want us to build your world together.

11. If you already have a Marvel Multiverse game going, I'm also willing to simply have your world collide with our other universes, but that would mean lore wise that your world is part of our Multiverse so hope you're comfortable with that. And we can figure out together, if you prefer your table to survive we can fudge the roles so your players are spared during the incursion. There is some place for flexibility there Id just prefer for the incursions ending to be decided at the table.

Q: Does my character's profile HAVE To be from one of the official published manuals? / Can I create a unique character?

A: Not at all! Characters are absolutely free game. If it's not an official profile that's in a manual I'd just suggest you grab one from Fuzzy on the Detail's website. I'm particularly partial to Brennan, BT, and Billy's profiles because I've used them before but am happy to have you use any you'd like or create your own as long as you run it by me to keep the characters from being too overpowered or bland (some characters can seem cool on paper but aren't as cinematic on a stream).
