I managed to get one in like 40 minutes of trying. I started with 4 axolotls and got up to 25-30 before one popped up blue. I was shocked.

Just keep trying. It'll happen eventually.

They used to spawn when they were released in 1.17.

They changed it to the rare breeding chance in 1.17.1

You should definitely still light it up, they get demolished by tridents! Try building any dams 2 blocks thick so they can’t attack through on the other side. Also the lil water lizards kill everything but you, villagers and frogs, truly ferocious

When I tried breeding a blue axolotl, I had horrendous luck. Like, at least 2000 bred with no blue baby.
