I'm going to try and crunch this down but I am like. PAMA's #1 defender. I used to jokingly call myself PAMA's lawyer in some MCSM servers/communities. Anyway, I had an old analysis video and it has not aged as well and I would have made some better points if I remade it.

Anyway, let's start with Harper because I have less to say there. I wish Harper was portrayed as more morally gray, considering she found it alright to have a potentially conscious creature do all of Crown Mesa's work. Whether you consider the fact PAMA was happy as a baby + the 'autonomous' in its acronym as it being conscious from the start or if it became conscious later, Harper shouldn't have let PAMA be or become conscious in the first place to prevent burdening a conscious entity with everyone's problems. I do wonder what Crown Mesa's citizens had to say, did some of them disagree or was it a child of Omelas situation where everyone was just complicit/okay with it?

I mean, have any opinions on Harper you want, but she did make something conscious or with the ability to be conscious (with no safeguards) and then gave it all of society's burden + unwanted tasks. Why not just make a purely brainless algorithm with a bunch of safeguards? Especially since its whole function is to override mobs' autonomy and turn them into drones, basically. Like you didn't even think, 'hmm, maybe I should make a protocol or something that makes it unable to chip or even think of chipping humans'? And why let it chip animals? Or was that something that happened post PAMA takeover? The fact that ALSO could happen should have been a signal that something was OFF.

Yes, PAMA has most of the moral blame, but PAMA also didn't really have a choice. Sure, PAMA could have just gone with the flow and never had that 'epiphany' and toil forever, but then Harper would be the immoral one for letting that happen. It doesn't matter if PAMA would 'love it' or not, it's still immoral to make something with a purpose and no other idea/ability or choice to be anything else. I wish people would actually acknowledge that + Harper's other flaws. She's incredibly cryptic, suspicious of people, eavesdrops, willing to throw people into danger (ep 8's beginning) for fun, and is very self loathing. Yes, she's loyal, incredibly intelligent, and had good intentions, but she also has flaws!!! Stop sanitizing her!! She's weird, too! That's part of why Ivor and her work!

Now to the PAMA analysis (jeez, I yakked on abt Harper for longer than I expected) let's get their negative traits out first. PAMA is manipulative, incredibly headstrong/stubborn, and very very self confident/egotistical to the point it's their downfall. But PAMA is also very curious about the world, believes that it is helping people and wants to help more than anything, holds Harper in a high regard (tries to get her to agree several times and shouts out when she's unchipped, even though they already 'have what they want' + the painting depicts them as 'happy.') plus, it makes them more interesting if you view them as having a parent child relationship, which Stirpe has implied a few times.

'But PAMA is just an algorithm/Chatgpt/etc!' No. Absolutely not. We actually have machines that are mindless in this episode, the ones in Harper's lab. There's a very clear distinction in how rudimentary those are versus PAMA's behavior. PAMA is also capable of feeling emotions, being excited about new knowledge, etc! They just cannot express them well!

(Also emotions =/= the ability to be conscious. It's hard for us to comprehend as emotional beings ourselves, but intelligence, consciousness, sapience etc are not mutually exclusive. Take, say, Vulcans from Star Trek for example [yes, I know that it's due to emotional suppression] why bring up Star Trek? One of PAMA's inspirations was classic Star Trek, AKA Star Trek TOS, a series with quite a few evil 'logical' machines littered in it)

Trying to argue 'PAMA's a machine, ergo cannot feel emotions' feels silly when one of the most famous machines in fiction (AM! Also one of PAMA's inspirations!) is known for his hatred! His emotion! Yes, many machines in fiction are emotionless and logical, but PAMA is not. PAMA is curious and believes fully that it is helping.

'But PAMA is irredeemable because they wouldn't see eye to eye with Jesse!' Firstly, Stirpe has mentioned that he wanted to make PAMA determinant (which I personally disagree with because having a 'determinant villain' pre-Romeo would make that last choice about sparing him feel less important IMO. Like Jesse you can't treat this like the first time you had to kill a conscious being, PAMA IS RIGHT FUCKING THERE?) and of course they didn't! Ep 7 barely took place over the course of a day. Ep 8, however? Could be perfect for a PAMA redemption (that's how I wrote it in my fic)

'So how, exactly?' Find PAMA's tiny body, shove their brain inside, bada bing, bada boom. Done. Bring them along and then have them have to confront their own actions and eventually help Jesse with the conflict. Behold, now you have a silly inventory pet! (Or a machine walking in Beacontown...?) Want PAMA off screen after? Give them to Otto and make them help him with fixing up the Games! Why? I doubt Crown Mesa wants that puter back, how about you?

I feel PAMA gets all of this because they're the one conscious villain (Witherstorm is a mindless beast) that dies no matter what. It's easier for fans to swallow if they believe that guy was totally irredeemable. + A lot of people would rather use PAMA as set dressing, which is sad as a fan. And is it really out there to redeem the puter? I've seen people redeem Cassie, Romeo, hell even Hadrian and Mevia (who didn't even regret their actions!) I have no issue, but why is PAMA a stripe too far when they'd be piss easy to depower?

'But the fight would be boring!' PAMA would be just as incensed to protect their brain because that's their purpose! To PAMA, Jesse would be trying to bring ruin to the world! They'd fight just as hard, maybe if not harder, because at least in the previous fight they would have gone down protecting their purpose! Here, they don't even die gloriously, they're stuck, unable to commit to their task.

'So it's just for equality? Because your blorbo got sidelined?' Nope. I think PAMA is a killer villain and you'd have to handle a redemption well to make it worth it. I doubt Telltale would make it impactful because it handled redemptions sloppily. Ivor was just suddenly on the team (yes, he helped in ep 4 but you're telling me there wasn't any hint of pushback???) and Romeo just becomes pathetic. Same I guess with Aiden but at least that made more sense!

But a redemption done well? Could be really interesting! PAMA has a love for knowledge, PAMA wants to help, but it's doing everything wrong. Imagine finding out your purpose is wrong. Imagine wanting to help because it's what you're supposed to do, and then comprehending the harm you've done. What kind of person can you become? How do you know you're actually helping someone? Also PAMA would be stuck with the people they've wronged, people who would rightfully want to throw them around like a goddamn softball.

Whatever. I kind of already covered this in my own fanfic, but I wanted to yap about it. People have gotten better about it, but I feel a lot of people are making PAMA more boring and generic and ignoring what makes them have depth and intrigue. Yes, MCSM isn't 'that deep' it's a game for preteens! But there is some depth and I find that fun.

Hello! It's been a while since I announced the project Minecraft Story Mode: Fractured Realms. I can say with confidence that work has been... a little slow (I am in college after all) but I am working as fast as possible to get a good product out for your enjoyment.

A design of Lukas for my upcoming animation series. I'm currently switching the direction for my project from making one game into a MCSM-like game/movie editor for others to their own create stories. Think of it like Roblox or Super Mario Maker, but for story creators.

I'm not going to say much about it yet, but once I make some progress on development, I'll share more later. For now, this MCSM fan series (Burning Remnants) and my original story (Inferior Star) will be used to demonstrate what my editor is capable of in the future.

Am I the only one that thinks that part in Wither Storm Destroyed that sounds like phase 3's theme but more dramatic is awesome? It should've been in the final game.
