Hi, I'm a player on the Korean server who recently started playing Miss Fortune support.
Please excuse any awkward wording — I don't speak English, so I'm using AI to translate this post.
As a beginner, I found Miss Fortune surprisingly appealing as a support. She has immediate poke with E, W helps with positioning and maintaining distance, and Q gives her some useful lane control.
So I wanted to share the playstyle and build I've been experimenting with, and I'm curious if anyone has tried something similar.
1. I don't buy a starting support item. Instead, I stay in lane until I have 400 gold, buy Tear of the Goddess, and recall. (I make sure to have W by this point.)
2. I completely avoid trading damage with the enemy champions. Instead, I use Q and empowered basic attacks exclusively on minions, trying to maintain a large minion wave on our side. At the same time, I constantly use E off cooldown to pressure the enemy.
3. If I'm able to successfully push the enemy under their turret, I continue applying E pressure while being careful about two things:
4. There is a fairly high chance of something going wrong during this process, but usually the lane goes pretty smoothly and we eventually destroy the bot lane turret. This happens even faster if my jungler cooperates.
5. At this point, my usual build is roughly:
Tear of the Goddess → Liandry's Torment → Zaz'Zak's Realmspike → Ionian Boots of Lucidity
The reason I skip Blackfire Torch is that, in my experience, Liandry's health-based damage continues to feel useful even into the mid game.
6. After taking the bot turret, I choose between top and mid depending on which lane is more fed or has better carry potential. I bring my ADC there and repeat the same strategy we used in bot lane.
And if we happen to run into the enemy bot lane that we previously crushed, it feels even better for destroying their mental.
7. Normally, if a Miss Fortune support gets an advantage in lane, I would expect them to roam or participate in objective fights.
But my thinking was a little different.
I don't feel like E contributes that much in teamfights or skirmishes, so my conclusion was:
"Extend the laning phase for as long as possible."
8. I've found this strategy to be surprisingly effective until all of the enemy Tier 1 turrets are destroyed.
However, trying to push all the way to Tier 2 turrets becomes significantly more dangerous. Unless the teammate I'm playing with is already very fed and is a strong carry champion, even three of us together can have a hard time.
Eventually, the game naturally reaches the teamfight stage anyway.
9. From this point onward, I felt that one of the biggest strengths of Miss Fortune support — her E — started to lose value very quickly.
At the same time, her lack of mobility and how squishy she is made her teamfight contribution feel pretty mediocre.
So the first thing I thought about changing was the Tear I bought early and turning it into Manamune.
10. Because I started stacking Tear extremely early, it didn't take very long to upgrade it into Muramana.
Even though I had only used this build a few times, I could already feel a surprisingly noticeable increase in Miss Fortune's ultimate damage after getting Muramana.
11. After playing several games with this build, my conclusion so far is that Miss Fortune has enough damage from the early game through the mid-to-late game with this build.
However, as you all know, Miss Fortune's survivability is extremely poor — especially when your team doesn't have a proper frontline. In those situations, it can feel almost hopeless.
12. So lately, the question I've been thinking about is:
"What if I extend the laning phase even further?"
In particular, I think areas like top lane or bot lane, where one side of the battlefield is blocked off, could be more favorable than fighting around objectives where enemies can approach from almost every direction.
A narrower battlefield can make it easier to prevent surprise attacks, and the more confined the terrain becomes, the more potential synergy Miss Fortune's ultimate can have.
My idea is to convince our laners to keep at least three, or ideally four, members of our team together and continuously pressure one side of the map.
Almost like the way a team groups up around a lane after securing Baron.
13. Of course, when I think about it more carefully, there may not actually be as much of a difference between:
"Enemies can approach from every direction"
and
"One direction is blocked, but enemies can still approach from the remaining directions."
There are also things like Teleport flanks to worry about.
So this is still just a hypothesis. And in ranked games, your teammates obviously won't always cooperate with what you ask them to do.
14. I don't have a huge amount of experience with this playstyle, so there may be other variables during the laning phase that I haven't considered. There may also be much bigger problems with this strategy once the game reaches the teamfight stage.
That's why I'd really like to hear the opinions of people who have much more experience with the game than I do.
I numbered each paragraph so that it would be easier to point out specific things you disagree with. For example, you could simply say:
"I think #12 is wrong because..."
I'd really appreciate it if there aren't any misunderstandings about what I'm trying to say. Since I don't speak English, I basically have to trust the AI translation here.
The reason I decided to post this here instead of on a Korean League community is that Miss Fortune support is already considered extremely off-meta there, and often viewed as a pick that can negatively affect your team.
I felt that foreign League communities might be more open to unusual ideas and new approaches, so I wanted to give this a shot and see what people here think.
I'm open to any kind of feedback. I'm still a beginner, and I'm really just someone experimenting out of curiosity, with a bunch of hypotheses that I'm trying to test.
So even if you completely disagree with my ideas, I think there's something I can learn from it.
And, once again, my foreign-language skills are terrible, so I may not be able to respond to everyone's comments very well. But I will do my best to read and understand as many of them as I can.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts or feedback.
Thanks for reading this ridiculously long post, everyone.

I'm not a MF player but I know enough to understand she doesn't deal magic or AP damage. Is there something I don't know or was this person trolling?

I was MF top this game because our team went Garius bot lane for the memes. Started off poorly due to me not barrier-ing in time in a level 3 top lane fight and dying, then going down two levels. Ekko was taunting us going "FF?" in chat... but then we locked in and managed to mount a comeback! Ended with this beauty :)

For those who missed it, Cryptic Depths Miss Fortune is available during the current wild rift crystal rose event. Make sure to check under the rose heart redemption section of the event.

Rune: DFT. Your q counts as single target so it applies the full burn
Sub-runes: Axiom Arcanist. I have had games where it deals primary rune level bonus dmg. Absolute focus and gathering storm
cutdown and alacrity/bloodline. These runes all work together to give you max dmg for your devastating q+AA trades
First item: I’ve had success with collector because dft burn has gotten me a few extra kills BUT where this build shines is if you take essence reaver first.
For the longest time, I have despised ER on mf because
Q applies the on-hit (meaning hitting on a minion consumes it instead of applying it to the champion) but it finally clicked in my small brain that this is a massive deal.
This allows you at first item to kill caster minions and then give you a guaranteed crit on the bounce. As you guys can tell that is very oppressive.
After ER I build hubris and then go full crit. The build path can be tweaked to your liking but I’m convinced that this is her best single item spike in the entire game.
I’d love to hear the thoughts of the seasoned mf vets on this.

Since the nightstalker passive of umbral glaive is exactly what the old duskblade had upon it's initial release all those years ago (that dealt bonus physical damage not true damage after being unseen), would you want it to come back and have umbral glaive and duskblade as two separate items?
I think this makes sense because then duskblade would be a functional damage item again and have umbral glaive as the strict ward removal item.
I think this makes perfect sense and a great way to bring back duskblade back into our builds.

Hi, yesterday I asked for builds and I've been enjoying bloodthirster into crit with pta. Not really a fan of hubris and first strike. I'm not knocking it and I got some crazy snowball games, but I like the crit playstyle more.
So first item is usually BT, then collector, then IE/pen, IE/pen, and if the game goes long enough, i get stormrazor.
My question is, since i'm not building lethality and my only pen is LDR, should I even go collector instead of a stormrazor for example? My understanding is that lethality stacks well with itself.
So a build like BT, stormrazor, then crit stuff be good? I bet kiting would be a lot easier.

I've not played LoL since a couple of years and one of my friend was playing LoR , I happen to see his gameplay with a MF deck and I realised she looks totally different from the LoL version that i played. Over these couple of years did they censor her midriff or is it just some LoR thing?

Dunno if someone is enjoying league classic as well but have anyone else notice that MF Q is bugged and doesn't bouncing when obviously should?
