Admins don't direct message moderators. Direct Messaging was removed quite a while. I want my point back dang it. :)

^^^^ he’s technically correct. They “chat” them.

Thank you everyone for organizing this bootcamp. Had a really great time and learned a lot from the session.

The hosts were amazing and kept the event engaging throughout. I especially enjoyed the Q&A session, and the quiz was really fun to play as well.

A special thanks to all the Reddit admins and organizers for putting this together and taking the time to interact with us. Really appreciate all the effort that went into making this event happen.

Looking forward to more events like this in the future!

This was fun totally worth staying up until 5:30am lmfao!! Just a small question, is there a pin inside the tote? I’m a collector…

Thanks admins, trivia was the best

u/kongsworth it's my first mod event & i messed up with the timings, so am i eligible for merch, if I watch the recording??

3

u/kongsworth Mod Events Team 21d ago

You bet. You have to watch by Monday at 9am PST, though.

2

u/Rubyonreddit109 21d ago

just wondering is there a certain amount of time needed to be watched for the merch? if someone was there for half the event at the time but had to leave would they need finish watching the recording to be eligible?

3

u/kongsworth Mod Events Team 21d ago

We fully expect mods to skip around to take what's most valuable to them.

u/KoolaidPower 21d ago

Thank you for making a replay available, I wanted to make it to the last two but missed them both! I missed the live of this too lol but was at least able to RSVP in time!

I am kinda sad that I can't get a tote bag (because I genuinely see me using it way more then the not the best quality pens and a weird soda holding thing)

Yeah.. I have nothing compared to you. My best things are probably a pen and a notebook

1

u/TheAeroplaneBear2906 21d ago

If you'd like to trade with some pre-existing merch you own, let me know. I'd be happy to figure something out!

1

u/REZ_Lev 21d ago

Probably not, because it will be a waist to send small stuff like that

u/RealNintenKing 21d ago

Does clicking the Approve check mark on posts do anything for me if posts are just allowed to go up anyway and there's no manual approval process in place?

2

u/cos 21d ago

One thing they didn't mention is that a mod who takes no "mod actions" for too long, gets marked as inactive. If your sub is quiet and there aren't things being reported, and you're pretty much done setting up your description and rules and so on, one easy way to take an occasional "mod action" to ensure you don't get marked inactive, is to approve something like that that doesn't need to be approved. It doesn't have any effect on what people see in the sub, but it updates your activity as a mod.

u/RealNintenKing 21d ago

Good to know!

What is the best meet up for “seasoned” mods to join?

Asking for a friend who wants to try and win a plushie.

u/dveda 21d ago

Thank you ☺️

It was fun!

u/IsJesusAgain 21d ago

Oh no i missed 😭

1

u/HugoUKN 21d ago

Can't see the recording through reddit Mobile app. It just stays like this.

1

u/Outsiders_Movie_Fan_ 20d ago

I'm getting the same information as you tried many times

1

u/Outsiders_Movie_Fan_ 20d ago

I missed this due to the death of my father his funeral was today

1

u/accordingtoame 19d ago

Thank you for posting the video! Just finished.

1

u/kakaocorp 19d ago

Really enjoyed New Mod Bootcamp! It was helpful and fun. One improvement for the replay would be saving playback progress so the video resumes where you left off instead of restarting from the beginning.

1

u/Outsiders_Movie_Fan_ 19d ago

Still can't watch the recording no video comes up

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Tysm Admins for hosting such a beneficial event 🥰 I learned a lot

1

u/Outsiders_Movie_Fan_ 17d ago

I been trying to watch the recording of this and no video comes up been trying for days just another trophy I would be getting then

1

u/Edward_Reese 13d ago

I've just finished watching (I'm slow). Thank you for this cool event!

I have one question that maybe someone asked in the chat - sorry if it was already covered. When I check other Redditors' profiles, I can't find the "Invite" button that was mentioned. Has it been moved somewhere? Or does it mean it's blocked for me? I never tried to invite anyone to my sub because I've just discovered this feature exists.

Hi! I’m a brand-new MOD, so unfortunately I joined a little too late… 😭
Will there be another New Mod Bootcamp or anything similar in Q4?
I really wanted the merch! 😭😂

At New Mod Bootcamp, we’re moderating a space where the specific goal is to support, encourage, and educated new mods. That space is not a forum for voicing grievances about Reddit's recent announcements or chatting about merch at the expense of the topics being presented to the audience it's intended for. There are plenty of opportunities for that.

The event is open for veteran mods to use their discretion about whether or not they can positively impact the new moderator on their journey.

I removed you from the event based on a combination of reasons. You’ll be welcome at the next event but will be removed should similar tangents occur. If you have feedback for me, ModMail is open.

Well, the good news is r/ModNews is a public community for this audience so everyone has access to the same information (as are r/redditdev and Spez's profile where there are similar posts).

For our events, we're hyper-focused on making sure everyone is well-equipped with what they need to know. That's why there was discussion of both Automod and Rules Hub because both are relevant today. I mean, my segment specifically discusses Mod Tools and I fully intend to update it as the platform changes. I'm taking suggestions for what language should be on my shirt for the next rendition.

We appreciate everyone's opinions (this is Reddit, after all) and everyone is welcome to voice them at the right time and place. New Mod Bootcamp was neither.
