Hi everyone!
I’ll be moving to Modena around the end of October to start a PhD at UNIMORE, and I’m currently looking for long-term accommodation. I’m open to both a small apartment/studio and a room in a shared apartment.
I’ve been checking the usual websites like Immobiliare, but I’d really appreciate advice from people who know Modena. Are there any trustworthy websites, local agencies, Facebook groups, or other less obvious sources that you would recommend? If there are any local “secret sources” that someone new to Modena probably wouldn’t know about, I’d be very grateful!
I’d also appreciate any advice on what to look out for when renting in Modena, especially regarding neighbourhoods, contracts, deposits, scams, etc. And what would you consider a reasonable monthly budget for a room in a shared apartment versus a small apartment?
I’m also a little confused about the costs. In Germany, we have cold rent (excl. utilities) and warm rent (incl. utilities). Is there something similar in Italy, or are utilities usually handled separately? For example, what would be a realistic total monthly cost to budget for?
Any advice from people living in or familiar with Modena would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
