Bug / Issue Card Fraud BOLO

Today I found unrecognized charges on my checking account that I used to purchase MovieBox. My friend used a temporary credit card number to pay for his moviebox, and found someone trying to purchase almost $12,000 in different transactions. Thankfully, my fraudulent charge was only $12 and I immediately locked my card.

Has anyone else experienced this and tracked it down to MovieBox leaking your card number? From now on, I I need to start using a safer form of payment.

As someone who uses privacy.com, I can definitely confirm these fraud transactions are from MBP's payment processor. Next time use privacy.com or crypto for payment.

Just recently renewed and about a month later I got charged for park tickets in Barcelona. I’m gonna have to look into crypto next year.

How to convert your cash to crypto?

Use Cash App to buy some bitcoin then renew MBP with crypto. It’s pretty easy with Cash App.

Yeah same issue here, used a bank account I only use for holidays and one off payments so luckily had no funds for them to take. Could have kicked myself for not being more careful

Back in March I lost my wallet and had to order new cards, a bit over a month later my new card had a whole bunch of fraudulent EA Sports transactions made on it, the only online purchase I'd made was for a movie box resub everything else had only been instore purchases thru my digital wallet so I'm certain it had to have been movie box leaking my details

Yes, it happened to me. Renew subscription and a month later I get random charges for Walmart in Houston Texas.

Why would you put your credit card in a s sketchy app without any credit card protection? I use Google pay and I've never had any problems

I can't say it enough. Use Privacy for ANY online payment. I don't use my actual card number online anywhere. Not even the digital card number the bank offers. I only use one card in a physical store only if I have to.

It's not MBP taking your money as they use a proxy service to accept payments for them. Or do you think MBP is offering services to get rare weapons in games.

I can’t remember if I have used my CC in the past to pay for it. Is there a way to look up how I paid in the past?

Anyone know what the charge comes up as on the credit card so I can search for it?

It happened to me not too long ago I had 7 6 month charges and 2 12 month charges, what I found out was my subscription ended during the time MB was down so when I tried to manually pay it wouldn't work turned out the system was still taking payments anyways I talked to mbsupprt and they gave me a refund for 2 of the order sand the rest weren't processed

I think I’m officially switching from MBP to full time TB/Str/Nu.(IYKYK)

This some bullshit. I’m sorry for my last comment questioning peoples finances being hacked by MBP because I didn’t have the experience. Now I’m seeing more and more people for the past month saying they have been robbed or attempted.

This is way too risky. Again, apologies for being a dumbass.

Sent you a pm, can you tell me about tb/str/nu?

Golden rule when dabbling in the piracy scene...
Never hand over sensitive information.
Use throwaway accounts, burner numbers, and VCCs always!

But don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to shift culpability onto the people who got burned by this. Sure, it's ultimately our own responsibility to protect our own information, but that doesn't magically absolve the MBP team of responsibility for what happened. The blame for mishandling people's information still falls squarely at their feet.

Just lock this rule away in the back of your mind for the future. Whether it's MBP or whatever other piracy software inevitably crawls out of the digital woodwork next... protect your personal information first. You never know when some seemingly harmless service may have an exit plan and turns into a dumpster fire overnight... burning your finances with it.

Well, they got me for $265 for SP VEATUY or something... Been a out 2 weeks since I paid that awesome $1.99 price and worked great. So fast.... Yeah, I should have listened to my bank fraud alert asking me if I paid $1.99.... I did. And have been watching, thought it was all good... I hate these scammers!! And have noticed nothing new on the main feed lately.

Pay with Bitcoin or something...such a shame, scammers and greed....
