Question If you could start over again...

Hello everyone,

I am thinking of "starting over" again and have a very compact digital FPV drone setup that can fit in a small backpack. The problem is that I have not watched too much Youtube about current setups lately so I am hoping someone can give me some insight about the status quo.

My current gear is a bit bulky Radiomaster TX16 with Crossfire module, DJI Goggles v1, Caddx Vista based VTX on fixed wing, and a couple drones (Babyhawk 2, GEPRC Crocodile Baby 4" Micro Long Range).

I want a smaller TX. ELRS the way to go?
Is the DJI video link still the best? I am primarily looking for a BNF drone around 2-3 inch.
Is there something coming out that will be amazing? I can wait a bit..

I am in Australia, if that matters.
Thanks!
Jan

DJI set

  • DJI Goggles N3/3
  • DJI FPV controller 3 / Radiomaster Pocket
  • Meteor75 Pro O4 II

BetaFPV set

  • there’s a combo with the P1 meteor and goggles. You get an average controller though

CADDX Ascent+

  • get the VRX and you can pair it with goggles with HDMI in
  • Radiomaster Pocket
  • some whoop that you can install CADDX Ascent camera and VTX on.

Read this review https://oscarliang.com/flywoo-firefly-25-mini/

2.5inch can be VERY capable when its NOT a chunky heavy "cinewhoop". 2.5inch is compact, can handle modest winds outdoors, and still gets decent flight time.

2.5inch cant really carry GoPro, but DJI O4 is so good, it doesnt matter.

Best part. Small = nimble and pretty quiet. Less likely to anger Karens. You can fly more places.

If i would start over again, i would invest my money with some return before starting FPV 😅

Edit: ELRS is the way to go yes. DJI except you wanna go ultra long range

Cambam looks like a nice 2.5" ripper.

For new things... I heard the DJI v1 was able to transmit audio but i could be wrong. Anyway audio transmission is dead.

Ascent came into play actually and got their second VTX+Cam released that theoretically is able to transmit audio when the new goggles get released. For now audio in DVR only. That could be something to look at maybe... The system is basically as cheap as analog.

Any clue on when the new goggles get released?

26.9. said a tester... Dunno how much information he really has.

But roadmap for Ascent said "premium" VTX and goggles too so...
