Vent/Rant - Advice Wanted/Ambivalent What fresh hell? Accredo changes
I am so sick of all of the dismantling of the ACA that is going on now. I genuinely detest all of the cult who did this to us… I know we’re gonna lose our existing condition protections eventually, and my son who is on disability is going to probably get kicked off of our insurance even though the awesome ACA lets you keep children with disability on your insurance forever. This is all such a nightmare, and everything has been so hard as these changes have been happening and now this! Why would they be doing this? I’m sure there is some horrible nefarious thing on the way, like no longer combining all of our specialty medication’s with our regular medication’s so that they applied for a deductible. Or some such horrible terrifying evil. Like we don’t have enough on our plates already!
Oh! I just discovered that I can’t add an image? How weird is that…
Anyway, I got email from Accredo today. That’s starting in October. They are no longer going to be combining their invoicing with Express Scripts, which is how it’s worked forever. I can’t imagine why they would do that if it’s not too somehow F with our deductibles or some other massive grift because everything now is a massive grift!

I used to be with Express-Scripts/Accredo, so I also got the email. I'm now with CVS Caremark/CVS Specialty. CVS Specialty's invoice and billing is separate from Caremark, but Caremark is still my pharmacy benefits manager. The way I read the Accredo email was that it'll work like that. Fingers crossed for you.

The way our insurance works (worked), ALL pharmacy benefits were combined under the financial auspices of Express Scripts, and all of that was bundled together and all applied equally to our family deductible.
This smells of Bad Things. I spent the first 8 months of this year fighting for my Ampyra even though I’d done the generic challenge 4 years ago and we’d proven the generic failed for me. I’d had no problem ever since. And as a consequence of that nightmare, my kesimpta was threatened because I couldn’t pay thousands and thousands of dollars for my Ampyra. They didn’t used to do this, but they were withholding my DMT over an appeal to get my Ampyra filled DAW!! It’s all corrupt and grift and it’s just going to get worse. Because nobody’s going to stop it.

Dude I’m sorry 😞 my insurance decided a few years ago that my deductible and hubbys deductible should be separate. So now all our HSA money pretty much gets used on me. I’m sorry this is happening to you.

It should all still be billed through your pharmacy benefit? I get meds from Accredo, express scripts, Costco, and CVS.

This reads to me as a warning shot that shit is going to get even more stupid as the ACA gets slowly destroyed, so our last little bits of consumer protection are whittled away. I spent the first 8 months of this year fighting for my Ampyra even though I’d done the generic challenge 4 years ago and we’d proven the generic failed for me. I’m guessing it’s in response to new laws like in TN that are limiting a PBM and pharmacy under common ownership. I imagine they’re restructuring to avoid the law.

I have a plan if they stop covering my meds. I call it my Bucket plan, I am really poor so I will not be able to accomplish many things on my bucket plan list, but it’s still the plan.
