Unless you have a 2-lb. purple bag of their organic jasmine white rice with a “best by” date 2/1/27 or 2/2/27, you’re okay…for now.

Right. The good news is that it sounds like contamination occurred at the factory level and the company is voluntarily recalling one specific product.

I’ll take that over parasites, bacteria, and bribes to look the other way. It almost seems quaint.

They also sell rice in other names too. I have a 2lb bag from them that we bought from Nijiya (a Japanese grocer in California) and is branded as Nijiya Rice but on the back it's from Lundberg Farms. Different lot numbers and dates, so I think I'm good, but check just to make sure.

The number of items recalled is probably the batch size.

It can be e.g. a week's worth of production. Probably not more than that.

There's certainly not a media lens applied to the "Unprecedented" spike in food recalls. So unprecedented, we haven't seen recalls like this all the way since essentially babylonian times - or 2018 (if pro-rated)

But non-jokingly, obv I don't agree with mass public sector cuts, but the inference anything here with largely uncontrollable food recalls is some giant growing cancer directly resultant from those cuts is just wrong, you are in a media bubble, reporting on food recalls because a machine shed a part into them isn't as juicy for a news outlet as - gov. agencies have been gutted and now people are forced to eat poison and die.

12 months ago it seemed like helicopter and plane crashes were happening everyday if you watched the news, 4 years ago every influenza strain was the next pandemic causer. These media firms don't actually care about informing you, they determine and ride relevance and fear, they take what you are passionate about and hammer you with tales of woe and blood until you can't take it any longer, then the next issue crops up.

Is it really an "unprecedented wave"? I'm struggling a little to find full stats on it, but it seems like the numbers of products being recalled are similar to most years. There have been a couple of specific products that have caused a lot of food-borne illnesses before being recalled though, so maybe we're already seeing the results of the cuts on that side? Honestly hard to tell if this is a real thing or just the media reporting them more widely.

How are these products found to be below standards if there's no inspections? It just doesn't add up.

Less inspections = Less recalls. Not more, for obvious reasons.
