Resume Question

I'm currently applying to administrative assistant/executive assistant roles outside the field, and while all my past roles have had administrative duties, I'm currently a registrar for a gallery. I've altered my resume to play up my admin work, but I'm wondering if I should remove my master's degree, particularly for jobs that emphasize a high school or bachelor's degree. Has anyone had any luck with removing degrees to get a job?

I did that at one time after getting a PhD. After one HR person called me to say I'd been passed over, I was shocked that she very honestly told me the PhD "intimidated" the hiring manager. He also had one and wanted to remain the only one in the department as an ego thing. Others told me they feared I would accept a job then bail as soon as something better came along. So on applications for work that a higher degree felt "over-educated" I removed it. The danger of course is not knowing if the hiring team would like it or be afraid if it.

My instinct is that, sadly, Master’s the new Bachelor’s; a sizable amount of applicants for any job in a museum will have one. Maybe I’m off base, but I think that’s the way the field has been for a few years now! Wishing you all the best!
