Context: In 1968, NBC did a series called "Experiment in Television". Jim Henson did an hour-long slot titled "Youth '68: Everything's Changing... Or Maybe It Isn't". This is one of the deepest cuts I've ever looked for. I'm 100% sure there's not a way to stream or rent it, it isn't on the Internet Archive, one or two short clips can be found on YouTube, but I really want the whole thing. Both to watch and (if possible) to archive for myself. As far as I've found researching online, there are/were some 16mms going around, which were in turn ripped to VHS and distributed in that format. Never officially, just by people interested by Henson history and broadcasting history.

If by some twist of fate someone here has (or knows someone who has) a digitized copy they'd be willing to share, or a 16mm or VHS they're interested in selling, I'd be very grateful if you would reach out!

How ridiculous how nbc reports the grand Canyon floods after months of negative drought reporting. This flooding is natural as is the drought. Omg.

Went to watch the Daytona race and got this immediately. No NBC splash screen, just this access denied message. No VPN running. Never had an issue using NBC before, my access is through my ISP (XFinity).
Tried rebooting, different browsers, etc, nada. I don't run ad blockers or sketchy software or browser extensions.
Any ideas?

First off NBC can create a series in their news segments where they feature citizens expressing new political ideas. We are tired of them featuring dump politicians spend billions fighting dumb fights with dumb ideas.

Here is my idea.

Democrats can effectively counter the ongoing onslaught against mail-in voting and stricter voter ID laws via a fundamental shift in political strategy, pull the chair.

Instead of playing simple defense, Democrats can completely turn the tables on their opponents by agreeing to these restrictions under one major condition: establishing election day as a mandatory federal holiday.

Specifically, voting should take place over a two-day period, covering both Friday and Saturday, to fully accommodate individuals employed in essential services who cannot easily take time off.

Implementing this strategy triggers two critical dynamics.

First, the business community will face a stark choice: either oppose the Friday holiday due to potential revenue losses or heavily advocate for the Saturday option to protect their bottom line.

Second, billionaires, wealthy elites, and the politicians themselves will suddenly find themselves subject to the same systemic inconveniences, forcing them to stand in long lines at local polling stations alongside everyday citizens.

Furthermore, a powerful tool for investigative journalists would be to publicly name and shame high-profile elites who fail to cast their ballots. While some jurisdictions consider non-voting a minor offense, a more impactful remedy would be tying civic participation directly to other structural duties.

For instance, those who choose not to vote could be automatically selected for mandatory jury duty or required to participate in community service, such as clearing trash from public freeways.

Currently, the national Democratic party's approach remains deeply frustrating today because they consistently choose defensive, low-ground tactics rather than seizing the initiative. They resemble a vulnerable village situated on a low floodplain, continuously stacking sandbags higher and higher to hold back the rising waters. Instead of this endless cycle of reaction, they must seek the high ground, creating proactive structural solutions and flotation devices for those trapped by systemic suppression.

Election day can become a thing with influencers and all looking for selfies. Counties can have a red carpet line and charge a hefty fee to raise money for running the poling stations or for education.

Win, win, win.

Election day could rival Met Gala or Kentucky Derby with people wearing patriotic themed fascinators and outfits when going to vote and also see celebrities and maybe politicians for free.

I'm trying to figure out whether I will be applying to East or West in September for the NBC Page program. I know the program is very competitive overall and I've actually been rejected by East before so I thought I would apply maybe to West but maybe wanted to hear people's experiences on both cohorts. I know West is more tv/film oriented and I honestly love what both cohorts offer. Is there a difference in the difficulty of getting accepted? I've looked at past acceptances and it looks like everyone has very strong resumes but maybe someone has more knowledge on this than I do. Or is there something from West or East that made you want to apply/ makes it better in your opinion.

5 mins into the new season and I already love me some Mike Tomlin. He is 100% no doubt a rookie on the mic but it's pure, it's raw, it's needed!

Watching the interview with Bryce Young, I could help but think how odd it could have been for Bryce doing an interview with a head coach with so much experience and knowing he could very well be your boss this year or next... Fun interview, Mike kept to the script. :-)
