Jay Cano and I will be hosting another Rookie track day at NYST - New York Safety Track

We are leaving Saturday afternoon to get there by 8pm. Those who want to camp for the next day are welcome to do so. Otherwise, we advice you to make hotel reservations in advance.

Cost: $250 per rider.

Those who need transportation, please DM Jay Cano to arrange for transportation.

We will have coaches and a private section for us only. This is the perfect introduction to track riding. The event is limited to 25 riders only. Book your spot ASAP.

The ride will be split up in 3 groups:

1st group (Fast group) Mostly sports bikes and adrenaline junkies.

2nd group (Intermediate group) We ride at a moderate pace and fun but we don't ride as fast as the first group.

3rd group (Cruisers and beginners) Safe environment and a chill ride. Beginners welcome.

My route from LBI is pretty much Rt 72 all the way through Pemberton, I'll probably KSU in Barnegat at 9am. Let me know if you want me to intercept anyone along the way.

EDIT2:Did the ride and biy it was fabulous. Great day and lot of folks were on the road. The onroad improvisation was taking 28A while coming back and it was a real treal.

EDIT1: / KSU: 7-Eleven on US-130 in Cranbury NJ, 7am Saturday. 329 miles round trip from there, about 8 hours moving, back around 7pm. Fair point raised below that the original post started where the loop starts rather than where we do - that's on me.

Riding this tomorrow and the forecast finally cooperated, so posting it in case anyone up here wants a Saturday.

Kingston up to Palenville, 23A climbing Kaaterskill Clove, over the top through Tannersville and Hunter, then south on 214 through Stony Clove Notch to Phoenicia and back on 28. 78 miles, a bit over two hours moving, so it is a half day unless you stop properly. About 17 miles of it is the Mountain Cloves Scenic Byway.

Forecast along the route for a 9am start:

Kingston 64F mostly cloudy Palenville, bottom of 23A, 65F Tannersville at the top of the clove, 63F Hunter 63F, partly sunny Phoenicia coming out of Stony Clove, 67F Back in Kingston 69F

One percent rain the whole way and wind under 3mph.

Two things worth knowing. 23A is narrow with stone walls and a real drop on the outside, and it gets sightseeing traffic that stops without warning for the falls, so it is not the place to make time. And Stony Clove is tighter than it looks on a map.

Hey I’m a new rider and need to get a clutch replaced on a Honda Rebel. Does anyone know any shops around New Brunswick that service Hondas? I’ve called a couple in the area but they only work on american bikes.

Did a very nice loop from Hoboken—>New Paltz—>Woodstock—>Hunter—>Phoenicia and back. Wonderful trip and loved being in the mountains. Main Course restaurant in New Paltz was a great stop for lunch

Hey everyone. I work as a delivery courier here in NJ on an air-cooled sport bike, and the recent weather is getting completely out of hand. One day it's a 100+ degree heatwave, and the next it's a torrential downpour causing massive gridlock on the highways.

Sitting dead-still in stop-and-go traffic is completely running our bikes into the ground. My air-cooled engine has no radiator; it relies entirely on moving air to stay cool. Constant idling in severe heat causes major mechanical stress—I've already had my clutch cable snap in a live lane, and I even passed out from heat exhaustion while trapped behind a bus inhaling toxic exhaust fumes.

We aren't asking for high-speed lane splitting. We just want common-sense, slow-speed lane filtering under 15 mph when traffic drops to a crawl so we can protect our lungs, our machinery, and stay out of the dangerous rear-end crash zone of distracted drivers. Car drivers sit safely with AC or heat, but we are completely exposed.

Anyone else out here on an air-cooled bike getting absolutely cooked lately?

I'll leave my house in Barnegat between 630-7 and will go any direction to meet up if there's interest. Just trying to put a couple hours down and get home, nothing too crazy. Even just a ride in to have coffee is great with me.
