Question / Discussion Emptiness

How do you experience emptiness? For me, it feels like a bottomless pit. My mind is a tangle of hot emotions. I graze them without learning why they're so charged. A few times, people have perceived my emptiness. The sun burns away skin and flesh, and all that's left is the scales underneath. It makes me sick to be seen for what I am, so I hide. I've felt empty for most of my life.

Only if you feel to answer - do you feel it as any particular sensation in your body? For instance, I experienced desolation as a sinking sensation in my stomach, as if I’m in a elevator that is continually going down.

Addendum:  I realize that I was interpreting your answer incorrectly, I thought you were describing how it felt in your mind, but it sounds like you were describing the physical sensations as well.

I feel it in my chest, like a void. Sometimes it “expands” to my throat until I can’t breathe.

My natural inclination is to avoid feeling unpleasant sensations – that’s natural, right? But it seems like there’s a better chance for release, when I let myself fully feel the physical experience, even lean into it, to the point that I’m sobbing. That does not feel good!!! And sometimes sensations can last for hours and hours, almost the whole day. At the same time, if I stay with the horrible feeling - no thoughts, just sensation, that’s important; When it passes, there seems to be more release. I don’t know if this is useful for you in anyway.
