Hi everyone! I'm going to attend Meidai starting this autumn and I got assigned Daiko International Residence as my dorm.

Anyone got experiences living in this dorm? I would like to know any tips or things to prepare, especially regarding food and travel expenses.

I also would like to know about Nagoya's winter condition as I'm someone from a tropical country, so no experience with the snow.

After experiencing a debilitating back injury and gradually falling into depression, I eventually discovered a show called Critical Role on YouTube. I binge watched the first season while lying on the floor which was about the only thing I could do without excruciating pain. When I was finally able to walk somewhat normally again, I desperately needed to get out of the house. I had learned something about the 5th edition of D&D through watching CR, so I searched for a game in my area and found one that regularly met at a local bar. In that very first game, I met a group of people who would become some of the best friends of my life. People who still today, 7 years later, come to my house every week to roll dice and make memories. I've spent every month since that day trying to connect people together through the hobby, so they can experience a little of what I did, or maybe something even better.

If you live near Nagoya and have ever been interested in TRPGs, or perhaps have friends or family you'd like to introduce to the hobby, we're offering a free introduction to Tabletop Roleplaying at Second Home (Ark Shirakawa Park Building B1F, 2-2-23 Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya) on Sunday, September 13th from 13:00 - 17:30. Like I mentioned, it's free--all you have to do is buy a drink or something from the cafe. We'll have 2 sessions of games with up to 4 games per session and running things like D&D, Call of Cthulhu and more.

Hello everyone, I visited Japan about 3 months ago, I have a lost item (a phone) that I lost on my last day in Osaka. The item was put at the Nakamura Police Station and I have all relevant details about it (lost item number, description, etc)

I've already got a replacement phone (as it was far too expensive to ship it home), but was hoping for someone who's willing to pick it up (I can provide documentation and consent) and help me out with it. As I already have a replacement, there will be no fees or shipping or anything of the sort.

- I have no criminal records or late payments

- I recently got a 5 year Humanities visa

- I make around 3.8M a year

I was told that they will not be able to support my application because my annual income is too low and that my case is "challenging".

I’m an Honours student at the University of Sydney Business School researching the experiences of Australians who are currently or have been on a Working Holiday in Nagoya or broader Japan. I’m really interested in hearing about what the experience was actually like the highlights, the challenging, the surprising, and everything in between!  
  
There hasn’t been much research on what the Aussie experience on this visa in Japan looks like so hearing your stories and insights would be invaluable. 

What my research involves:  

• A 5 minute survey   
• A casual 45–60 minute chat (Online) 

Eligible participants must be:  

• 18 years old or above; and  
• Have completed or are currently pursuing a working holiday in Japan

I noticed today in about a month is the Beckoning Cat Festival in Ise. I went a couple years ago and it was an enjoyable day.

Something different to do and get out in the countryside.

It's a 10 day festival but it seems September 26th and 27th are good days to go because there's possibily some food festival happening at the same time.
