Namcon?
I found this online (maybe even here). Does anyone know anything? Is it a real thing? If the embassy is involved, it’s definitely interesting.

This would make me want to finally make the effort to come visit the country.
Just a quick question... Why Robert Mugabe Avenue? Like what's the reasoning there? Or is that a different Bob?

Not Namibian here: it's the same Bob. And Fidel Castro Avenue is named after that Fidel. But it makes sense in context of the history of Namibian independence (though I understand there is still some controversy RE Mugabe; again, I'm not Namibian, just have friends there).

That’s probably just in Zimbabwe. An average Namibian doesn’t really feel otherwise. Anything he may have done doesn’t take away the help that he gave us while we were being colonized. So, he’s quite deserving of that avenue.

The creed is self-destruction and macho masochism in most of Africa. Bob, Mao, Fidel, Stalin, Putin, Amin, Gaddafi etc. are avatars of this god. Kinda like Kali (Hinduism) but worse. It's a weird form deification of the worst of the worst. Worth 10 PHDs at least... You have it with Zuma and Malema in SA. Those groups hate people like Madiba, Tutu etc. that represent greater good, compromise and love.

We most avenues in Namibia are named after prominent african leaders that helped Namibia get Independence. There’s probably an avenue for each leader.

Well Fidel did help us gain independence. What's crazy is that we still had streets named after colonisers two years ago 😭

Well, that's just a matter of procrastination. The more crazy thing in my opinion I think is to decide "yes, we will raise our children under the banner of this man who killed millions of them".
