General Help Scroll frame question
Hi there,
I am using a scroll frame for the first time to stitch a stocking. Do I need to be concerned about stitches getting “smushed” down as I roll stitched portions of the canvas? I plan to save all beading and ribbon work for when I’ve completed the bulk of my stitching and take it off the frame. I do have a fair amount of decorative stitches and I am using a mixture of vineyard silk, impressions, neon rays, water and ice, whisper, lots of fun thread (but no velvet).
Is there anything I need to do to prevent any marks of indents on stitched portions as I move down the canvas?
Thank you!

Shouldn’t be issue but I have used a section of Press n Seal Saran Wrap and just lightly stuck on the stitched section to protect from snags, dirt etc. You can roll that right into frame and no residue or anything.
Also you will want on some sort of frame for the ribbon and bead work (so much easier and more secure) so if not still in scroll you may want a plan. Good luck! 🍀

My biggest tip: If the sides are floppy and the canvas isn't taut, don't get too aggressive with getting it tighter.
I split a canvas trying to get it as tight as I like although I had the canvas clips and the side bars of the scroll frames were adjustable. My other problem with stitching on a canvas that was too taut for the scroll was a finished canvas that was warped. The stitches were not squashed so much but the indentation of the back of the stitches stretched the canvas out of shape as it was rolled and it wouldn't lay flat when completed, no matter how severe the blocking. And yes I did loosen the canvas when not stitching.
As a result of all of this I have gone back to stretcher bars for these last few stockings and haven't had a problem stitching stockings on 26 x 16 inch stretcher bars. Eventually I will probably stitch more on scrolls but first I have to get used to stitching on a canvas that is not drum tight. I have been practicing.
