ARCH VS. NETBSD!!!!

Context: I found a dual core T430 in my closet a few weeks ago that works fine. Im thinking of Arch or NetBSD to revive.

This is the wrong subreddit to ask for a balanced response.
But like yeah use NetBSD, have fun playing with something different (and more reliable) on this spare computer. I think that's what spare computers are for.

Also be sure to look at the battery and see if it's bulging. I have an old Lenovo a year or so ago that did that. I ripped the battery out and just used it wired to the wall.

You're trying to get us to make a choice for you between a complete and monolithic Unix legacy and a simple Linux binary distribution with precompiled packages. This is a choice from the series "which tastes better, whiskey or carrot?"

Arch is fun, but IME if it ends up sitting in the closet for months/years again, it'll be practically impossible to update after that.

If you're coming from Arch and don't mind linux: Alpine or Void. NetBSD will basically mean learning a new way of structuring a Unix system from the ground up.

Go for if you wanna learn something :) I personally prefer FreeBSD

netbsd....or void linux. But this subreddit will obviously give you biased answers. I've used that exact machine with netbsd and it works well
