u/onemorespacecadet ✨twerk, lie, eat hot chip, be bisexual✨ 5d ago
lmao same.
another one of mine is men who think every woman who makes a joke is being 100% serious. it’s a weird phenomenon but i’ve even seen it happen in real life and it’s always so frustrating. like god forbid a woman intentionally use hyperbole for comedic effect
32
u/fickystingers 4d ago
I am totally convinced that the reason so many men think "women aren't funny" is that they fundamentally cannot recognize when a woman is (not) joking
a lot of men also seem fundamentally unaware of what a "joke" actually IS, which is a separate but related issue, but I digress! Can't even tell you how many times I've said something that I thought was obviously a joke/hyperbole/bullshit/sarcasm/etc in a room full of men and been taken seriously, or said something dead fuckin serious that was interpreted as a joke 🙃
9
u/skaboosh 4d ago
My partner has said to me before I was being mean or dramatic, and I’m like “I’m literally always joking, if I was serious you would know”. I have a dry and sarcastic sense of humor, I would think after almost 5 years he would understand it but idk I guess I’ll just let him think I’m a bitch or something I guess lol
36
u/pseudostrudel 5d ago
No fr they also do NOT need to make themselves appealing to literally every woman on earth. That's a fool's errand.
21
u/Melarsa 5d ago
I wonder if this explains part of the "women aren't funny" fallacy as well. If they can't even pick up when women are obviously joking or doing a bit then it might explain why they walk around thinking half the planet is terminally unfunny.
To them, a funny man is anybody who other men laugh with, and punching down is a lot more accepted and revered as "telling it like it is." They think a woman who doesn't laugh uproariously at their low-hanging "take my wife" rehashed garbage jokes is humorless. They can't even tell when women are joking so they just write off all women as unfunny.
See also: any time a woman jokes about sex they get very angry and say it's the ONLY thing women joke about. Meanwhile their favorite male comedian's lineup is just tired fart and dick jokes and being overly "-ist" but that's peak comedy because it makes their bros laugh so they know it's funny and IT'S DIFFERENT MOM IT'S NOT A PHASE. They literally can't detect other kinds of jokes coming from a woman and then try to blame it on the women for only having one type of joke.
10
u/DeathRaeGun 4d ago
They often seem to think men are also a hive mind. I don’t care about bodycount, but if I said that to any of these men, they’d think I was either lying, was a fake account run by a woman, or had internalised misandry. They would never accept that I genuinely don’t care.
Incels often do feel like a hive mind, but I’m convinced that 60%-80% of them are just bots, and the other 20%-40% are imitating the bots because they have no creativity, which would explain that phenomenon.
1
u/gandalfhans 1d ago
Men who don't care about body count AT ALL are the absolute minority. I can safely say that at least 90% of men would not be comfortable if they knew their GF/wife had 100+ body count

This is exactly how they form a narrative. They find a woman with an extreme take and then say it applies to all women and blame their inability to date on that.

u/bjornistundwar 4d ago
I recently saw a comment about how in a world full of Lindsay Clancys, women should strive to be more like some other woman that died to save her kids life. I was like, since when is the world filled with women who kill all their children and then attempt suicide? The world is filled with loving and caring mothers. Men kill their whole families every other day, statistically proven fact, but somehow that doesn't mean the world is filled with horrible father's.
(This is not about whether or not Lindsay did it or what exactly the circumstances were. It's just about the principle.)

Oh, I know a good way to know whether or not someone likes something: Ask them, individually.
-226
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
You'd have to know lots of women to get a decently representative answer, is the thing. I don't think most men know 50+ women. And chances are, the answer you get is biased towards what is popular or unpopular in the area you are in. If you're out of luck in that regard, do you go find 50+ more women in another place?
207
u/ButcbMasculinity 5d ago
What part of ask them individually don't you understand? Every woman is different.
124
u/valsavana 5d ago
So do you also think you don't actually know what men think? Why would women be any different?
106
u/Tamareira568 5d ago
That's not what I meant...
I mean "ask that one person what they like and you will know that they like" ("they", in this case, being on singular)
-131
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
Asking people individually obviously yields an individual answer. I am looking for answers that are more representative of what people in general think. For that, you would need to talk to more than one person.
88
u/Pixiwish 5d ago
How does this help ? Let’s say the water thing in this meme is true but you love drinking water. Are you going to stop because you believe what you read online because you think that will help? Then you have changed but there is a woman out there who loves water too now you’re going to miss her because you stopped drinking water.
My advice take women out of the equation and ask “what do the people I like prefer?” Having actual friends will give you an idea what actual humans like and that there are people that fit your niche and plenty more who don’t.
Is physics hot? Not really but amoung my friends talking physics is fun. Plenty of people don’t like punk but I am friends with people who like punk because we have that in common. If I went off what the internet told me I’d change to like what I see online but I’d lose myself as well as genuine friends who appreciate what I do.
You’re also not seeing anything organically online the algorithm is feeding you what it thinks you want and most the time is rage bait because opposites off an engagement economy.
-9
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
If the water thing were true, how do I optimise my chances of finding the woman who is fine with me drinking water? That is the point of a general answer, to get information that is USEFUL so I am less likely waste my time talking to 50 women who hate water.
I do have actual friends, some who are female, but common interests don't necessarily let you know what a person is beneath the surface, or necessarily whether they would be willing to date you, because there are other factors one considers when dating someone, which might give me a different answer entirely.
71
u/wote89 5d ago
My brother in Christ, humans have managed to find partners without population-wide statistical analysis for literally the entire history of our species. You'll be fine if you just live your own fucking life instead of trying to optimize every goddamned thing.
-17
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
Yes they did, it was called "arranged marriage", and it worked well for neither party.
Optimisation is important if you don't want to waste your time or other peoples time. Do you want to be bothered by the requests of worthless strangers on the street? I don't, and to that end, I would wish to treat others as I wish to be treated.
Also, I am not your brother.

Dude........ Respectfully this is an insane way to think.
Literally everyone in the world is different. If something matters to you that much just make it clear it matters to you and it will filter out the people that don't like it. It's literally that simple.
Life isn't a game where you look up optimal strategies to try to save time in your speedrun. That's a very weird way to look at it.
You will likely get together with a person spend some time a couple months maybe a couple weeks maybe a year who knows but if you find out you aren't compatible then you just aren't compatible there's literally no way to just put yourself into an algorithm and find a perfect match for you out of everyone and it would be incredibly boring if there was.
-3
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago edited 5d ago
Is something being "weird" inherently bad? That's one way to reveal yourself as the person who hated the "weird kid" in school.
Optimisation is simply anything that improves your chances per encounter, in this case, through making decisions on who to encounter and not, and where/when/why. For example, not going to the bar to find women if you don't drink is an example of optimisation. Not going to a concert to find a woman if you hate noise is optimisation. Not dating a woman with tattoos if you hate tattoos is optimisation. And on the positive side, going to a space where women who like [x] trait that you possess can be found in greater quantity is such as well. This is simply common sense.

If I didn't think women were individuals, why would I ask more than one person?
8
u/bjornistundwar 4d ago
You want 4 billion women to agree on everything, just so you don't have to do the work and get to know the women in your life individually, and now you're asking why we believe that you don't see women as individuals. Guess what, we have 4 billion different opinions. It's not like we have secret meetings for all women where we discuss shit and then agree one opinion. How do you think women work? Just FYI we are humans too.
1
u/ThorinUlfarsson 3d ago
It is statistically near impossible that 4 billion women agree on anything.
Getting to know a specific woman does not tell me anything about women in general, only what that specific woman thinks. You would need to repeat this with a statistically significant number of women to get useful information about a group in general. And having 4 billion different opinions does not mean no one ever agrees.
And as for "hard work", I don't see how repeating the process of asking hundreds of times cannot or should not be made more efficient by trying to deduce what MOST women like/dislike, adjusting for context, and then utilising this information accordingly.
28
u/best_little_biscuit 5d ago
Man, if only there was a way to ask multiple women something, women from all over the world. Some kind of electronic forum where you could post a question for women to respond to...
48
u/Pixiwish 5d ago
I’m sorry you grew up in an online age. I don’t think it is fully your fault but try a detox of some kind and meet real life people.
You don’t need to “know” 50+ people right away but the more you socialize the easier it becomes just to talk to people and the more this happens the more varied you find people are. What happens is you’ll click with someone and find that none of what people say online actually matters at all.
-6
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
I've taken internet breaks before and regularly, it doesn't make talking to people easier. Not for me anyway. Maybe if you live in a hypersocial environment this works, but most people in my area are relatively antisocial.

you don’t have to know a certain number of women to realize that they’re all individual people with individual thoughts, feelings and opinions??
-2
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
I'm well aware of the fact women are individuals. But knowing that women are all individuals is neither the point nor is it useful information. Maybe it's useful to someone who does not already know that, but I digress. The point is that getting useful information requires knowledge of what is true of MOST people, not ALL people. And people being individuals does not necessarily mean that the majority won't agree on things on occasion.
To categorise:
"All women like/dislike [x]" is a certainly false statement (I don't think there is a single trait which all 3.9 billion women universally like, bar the obvious).
"All women are individuals" is a true statement, but does not disambiguate anything.
"Most women like/dislike [x]" is useful information (again, bar the obvious).20
u/inadapte 5d ago
but does it matter what most or some women think? what’s important is what the women in your life think/do/etc.
0
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
The women in my life are my mother, cousins, and friends. The first two are unsuitable as partners for obvious reasons, and my friends for more specific reasons for each of them. So I have to look elsewhere, and there are plenty of reasons to consider what most women think when deciding when/where/why/who to consider a potential partner.
5
u/Hellas2002 4d ago
You’d still have more samples than the one clip about a woman saying she doesn’t like men who drink water…
3
u/faboleth 4d ago
ah, so no-one is allowed to argue with obvious insane takes unless they poll hundreds, thousands, millions of women! manosphere influencers get to say whatever they want and that's fine but men have no way of rebutting obvious bullshit unless they talk to <arbitrary, large> numbers of women about specifically that - and are blameless, as they can't. What a transparent use of the double standard fallacy.
0
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
Because an obviously insane take MAY seem less insane to a different group of people. And I never said alpha male influencers were necessarily correct or "get to say whatever they want", relatively speaking, I said that they were a source of information (factual or otherwise) for some men.
You cannot A PRIORI know "obvious bullshit" for obvious reasons. And the number 50 is not entirely arbitrary, 40 is a commonly accepted statistical threshold by which data begins to form a bell curve, but more is required for accuracy.
And you want to mention fallacies? I can play this game all day.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faulty_generalization --> Assumption of the double standard fallacy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_fallacy --> Even if I had made such a fallacy, assumes the argument is inherently wrong by consequence.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_incredulity --> Assuming that something "obviously false" without formal proof must be false (in this case, the woman who hates water). By contrast, I accept the possibility that it MAY be true.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_the_stone --> Similar to before, no concrete proof that something "obviously false" is false without appeal to incredulity.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irrelevant_conclusion --> Concludes that I somehow believe that one "influencer" has an opinion of greater worth than one woman, when I am referring to a perception belonging to a subset of other men.14
u/AkaiAshu 5d ago
The fact you do not know a lot of women is the problem. You should not date. If the number of men and women in the world are roughly equal, how do you not know many women ? Your choice shows you do not like women, therefore they should take the cue and not date you. Most men don't know 50+ women ? Yeah, the loser men perhaps. Nobody ought to be dating those losers anyway.
6
u/Conscious_Pass_1615 4d ago

The thing is I have men in my life from family to friends so I immediately know bullshit. I also don’t try to monolith people and anytime someone claims to speak for all women or men I know they are full of garbage because there is so much variance in people’s preferences that there is no way it can be true except that one person’s perspective. That’s like someone making a video saying they hate onions and believing everyone hates onions because the comments are all “eww onions 🧅 you’re so right. “
What you are saying applies to people who primarily interact online and don’t have much social interaction.
-7
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
Lots of people are terrible at identifying bullshit for any number of reasons, not necessarily due to being online or not very social.
Of course when one person speaks for ALL women or men, you can obviously say they are wrong, but we're looking for things that are GENERALLY true. For example, I am sure we can say with confidence that most women want men who practice hygiene (and vice versa is true of men). But what else can we say is generally true? If something is not generally true, can it be generally true for a particular context?
27
u/Pixiwish 5d ago
A bit of common sense goes a long way as well as real life observation skills.
A very popular narrative is short guys can’t get women which is entirely untrue. Going out in public and you’ll see proof but even being online you can check a few statistics. Around 48% of American men are married and even if you say 15% are above 6 foot and assume all are married that 33% of married men are under 6 feet.
Couple this with algorithms and an engagement based online economy rage bait is what gains traction. That’s why people need to get online and talk to real humans.
8
u/OldManJeepin 4d ago
Short dude I knew, way back in the Corps in the 80's, "Scooter" we called him...Swarthy, good lookin' dude who was into bodybuilding. 5'3" in boots....He pulled more women than any dude I ever saw, before or since! "Short guys can't get laid" my ass! LoL
-6
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
Well, I don't live in America, so those statistics are useless to me. 183cm (which I believe is 6ft in freedom units) is barely above average height here, not "tall". If the tallest 48% were married, no one under 5'11 would be married.
25
u/Pixiwish 5d ago
Your comments are full of excuses. One of the biggest life changing things I did was quit wearing victim glasses and making excuses and decided to take accountability for my own life. It wasn’t “I’m homeless because x y and z” it was “I’m homeless what can I do to not be homeless”
Good luck in your life.
-2
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
I'm simply pointing out that the statistic and assumption you posted was not helpful to me, not claiming that height is somehow a dealbreaker for everyone. I know full well that shorter men can date, I've seen it happen, but I do know it makes things somewhat harder, especially here.
19
u/lumosbolt 5d ago edited 5d ago
Things that are generally true for women are also generally true for men, and thus for you.
What do you want in a woman? Chances are there are women out there who want the same thing in a man.
-7
u/ThorinUlfarsson 5d ago
Most of what I want is a woman is specific to my own personal values, lifestyle, traits that I myself possess, etc.
Is there a woman out there who wants what I have/want? I'm sure there is. But that also is not helpful information to me. WHERE do I find this woman, bar the obvious? WHEN do I find her, bar the obvious? Knowing myself, I am certain I can cross off several settings. The point of a general answer is to get actually useful information.
25
u/Icy_Positive_5296 5d ago
the question you are asking does not end in a general answer. there is no “general answer” that we can give you bc you are not asking the proper question. do you need another way to be told that there is nothing that can prove any group of people all have the same preference?
18
u/TrashGouda 5d ago
I can see why you struggle getting a answer... You're not listening when people tell you something.
8
u/OmgIbrokesmthagain 4d ago
The problem is, you take opinion of one girl and extrapolate it to half of the population. That is unreasonable. How would you like if I asked one dude about his opinion on women and then said that is what all men think? That would not be nice.
-4
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
Every single woman is unreasonable. But a majority or significant minority of women? Entirely possible. I know for a fact that any given statement does not apply to all women, but MAY apply to most of them.
7
u/OmgIbrokesmthagain 4d ago
… brother if I said „Every single man is unreasonable” you would be so mad
0
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
I meant claiming that "every single woman likes/dislikes [x]" is unreasonable.
6
u/Unique-Cap2857 4d ago
Well, considering there have been plenty of cases where men have killed or abused women they find out are not virgins including ritualized femicide of it across the world, I think that’s a pretty poor fucking example. This has also happened for thousands of years. There was quite literally laws in various ancient societies saying if a woman lost her virginity before marriage (including rape) or committed adultery, a male relative had the legal right to murder her for it. The numbers vary heavily based on misclassification, underreporting and being covered up as suicides, accidents, runaways, etc. but the WHO estimates 5000+ women annually are murdered in honor-related killings, which has to do with their sexuality and virginity. Other advocacy organizations think the number can be as high as 20,000.
I cannot think of a single case where a woman has killed man because he drank water.
So frankly, I think your attempt to compare the two is wildly disproportional and completely out of touch with reality. When thousands of women are killed yearly over virginity, countries still have laws legalizing femicide over virginity and you can look at at least a dozen ancient societies with similar laws allowing men to murder unpure women, I think we can reasonably say a good portion of men actually DO feel this way. Because, y’know, the evidence is fucking there.
0
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
You're talking about knowing something is true BECAUSE there is evidence in favour of it, when I am talking about knowing A PRIORI whether something is false. Would you know the truth of that statement WITHOUT all of the evidence you mentioned? No, you wouldn't. What a needlessly long winded explanation from someone who completely missed the point of what I was saying.
6
u/Unique-Cap2857 4d ago
“Who missed what I was saying”. Huh. But didn’t you just say “If a man said “I/we only want to date virgins”, women might think he was ridiculous, but for all they know, he might be right. How do they know?”
Well, you see, that’s how evidence works. But now you’re mad that I responded to your question? LMFAO. Fragile masculinity at its finest.
My brother in Christ, I didn’t miss your point at all, I think it’s a stupid fucking point in the first place, you dumbass. Like maybe pick another fucking example, or admit you’re full of bullshit. You’re losing your argument against multiple people. You’re not as smart as you think you are, you come off as a conceited prick.
5
u/LaMadreDelCantante 4d ago
Hmm. How to solve this dilemma?
If a man says he doesn't like women who sing in the car, should I assume all men feel that way? What he he doesn't like women who eat vegetables?
No? Why?
Oh, men are people and not all the same?
Could it be that women are ALSO people and not all the same?
No. That couldn't possibly be true.
It's just so HARD to figure out those alien creatures with no penises. However will you do it?
-2
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
Not ALL women are the same, but perhaps most might.
9
u/LaMadreDelCantante 4d ago
Sigh.
People. We are people.
You can only experience life as yourself. You only know how other men feel by listening to them. Why would the same not apply to women?
We are not less individual than men. And we actually aren't nearly as different from men as you think. We aren't mysterious or indecipherable.
Just treat women as people, don't only interact with them for the purpose of sex, and don't mold yourself into some weird idea of what you think we want. Be the best you that you can and find someone who likes that
6
u/faboleth 4d ago
bruh you missed the point. if a random guy says women shouldn't have the vote, and then a bunch of women, like hundreds of thousands of them, start blaming other men in their lives for saying they shouldn't get to vote, when those men said nothing of the kind, that's what's being referred to. There is a huge % of men that assume female viewpoints selected FOR THIS PURPOSE are indicative of ALL WOMEN and they then proceed to ACT ON THAT IN THEIR LIVES. They claim it's why they hit women, vote for misogynists, treat people like shit, go on weird little tirades about how women are evil IN FRONT OF CHILDREN and otherwise act like actual assclowns
6
7
u/Mr_7ups 4d ago
By your logic, if a man told me they didn’t like the color green, then I should just assume every man on the planet doesn’t like the color green and there is no possible way to confirm that?
And omg please enough with the whole “no one understands women!” BS like it’s the 50’s, the only lack of understanding happening is basic communication skills that are being skipped over. Try viewing women as people first who you are getting to know and shockingly you’ll learn about said person😱
1
u/ThorinUlfarsson 4d ago
You can confirm that not ALL (100%) of men don't like the colour green by statistical improbability. But can you plausibly deduce that MOST men don't like the colour green? It's entirely possible, as is the reverse.
Perhaps "basic communication skills" are being skipped over because some people are de facto excluded from communication to begin with (and if you are neurotypical, I am certain people like you are partially responsible). Thus presenting the need to understand things in a different way.
5
u/lordrothermere 4d ago
So when someone says 'i don't like sprouts' you would make the assumption that everyone in the world doesn't like sprouts? Before assuming that it's the individual who doesn't like sprouts and other people's opinions may vary? Or do you only make that sort of group-wide assumption regarding gender?
0
u/ThorinUlfarsson 3d ago
Where did I say "everyone in the world"? I said MOST. Peoples opinions vary, but that does not mean nobody agrees on anything.
3
u/lordrothermere 3d ago
You said you couldn't understand whether the response of an individual would be able to give you the response of a group. Which is absolutely correct. Using n=1 would be dumb as a bag of hammers
However, you also said that men couldn't possiblu understand the minds of women. Which is equally dumb. They don't constitute a separate group that have a distinct and undiscoveable view of the world. They are as diverse and complex as men. But they do have common experiences that it would be hard to suggest don't shape their view of men. Those experiences are pretty discoverable in public data sets and have fuck all to do with water.
Beyond that, there's very little difference between men and women as individuals. If a chap doesn't like a girl drinking water, so be it. It has no reference on the perception of another man. You'd be foolish to extrapolate.
-1
u/ThorinUlfarsson 3d ago
However, you also said that men couldn't possiblu understand the minds of women.
We cannot. Not in the truest sense, since as you mentioned we don't share all common experiences. And while the experiences themselves may be discoverable in datasets, it would be difficult as an outsider to know the actual consequences and effects.
And men and women are different when it comes to what they prefer in a partner. For example, most straight men don't have a "penis size preference" as their ideal partner has no penis at all. But a woman might be more likely to, whether that is small or large or average or otherwise.
And the different experiences of both genders mean that things which may appear extreme to one may appear less extreme to another. Hating water might SOUND extreme to me, but perhaps women know something about drinking water that I do not, and this applies to other things as well. So we cannot definitively say the extrapolation to MOST is false, even if we cannot definitively say it is true.
2
u/lordrothermere 3d ago
How many women have you discussed penis size preference with? And what was that preference? Where are you getting your data for that claim? And if that claim is solidly (as it were) referenced, then what is you data on prioritisation of penis size vs water drinking? It's complex right?
Given that pornography is almost exclusively male consumed, and the fellas therein tend to be packing, is it possible that it is indeed chaps that have a preference for penis size?
Because I think the only reason you can't recognise the autonomy and discoverabilty of women is because you have chosen not to.
1
u/ThorinUlfarsson 3d ago
I would suspect that the men who subconsciously select for larger penis size in porn are somewhat more homosexual than they let themselves on to be. And it would be irrelevant when searching for a female partner anyways.
Personally? Some women I know well in real life. The consensus I got was that they mostly prefer "average" and that larger penises can hurt at times, though not uniform. I never asked anyone about drinking water.
2
u/lordrothermere 3d ago
"I never asked anyone about drinking water."
I'm not sure what that says about the pornification of society that we are dicks first, water second 😁
2
u/lordrothermere 3d ago
Are you suggesting I can't experience the same experiences as my wife? Or that, if so, she couldn't teach my sons to understand her experience and analysis of the world?
Are you saying there's literally no way for men to understand the concept of patriarchy? Because I think that's bollocks.
1
u/ThorinUlfarsson 3d ago
You cannot understand exactly what another person experiences, or how it affects them. And no two persons experiences are the same. Communication is inherently inadequate due to various linguistic reasons, it will only ever be "good enough".
2
u/lordrothermere 3d ago
Well that's not true, otherwise there wouldn't be art or love.
And, to be contrary, the ability to assess and act on perceived risk.
You're just taking a 1950s deconstruction position without considering reconstruction.

Most of the time it's a girl trying to just make a joke but these people don't know how to talk to funny/sarcastic girls

u/MisterCCL 5d ago
Even if you assume sincerity, it's hilarious that they take a wild statement from one random women and then generalize it to all women. I guarantee I could find a clip of a crazy dude saying crazy shit, but that wouldn't make it an indictment of men as a whole.
People need to touch grass.

Genuinely, it’s the same people who also cry ’not all men’ if someone talks about how 97% of violent crime is commited by men. Obviously it’s not all men, but here is actually statistics at place at the very least so I understand when it’s talked about in a matter of fact manner rather than generalizing or acting as if it is all men etc.

I once saw someone say that men think women are being serious because they don't think women are intelligent enough to tell jokes and that's absolutely what it feels like.

u/ShlorpianRooster 4d ago
You nailed it on the head. "My ick is when men drink water" is honest to God so funny but with that logic it's serious.

is there a collection out there for the most reddit-sounding reddit comments? if i framed this as an anonymous quote, a blind baby elephant would be able to trace it back to reddit

just a ridiculously bad effort at an “own”, something about how women can’t make jokes and can only be unintentionally funny like OC

u/BreadZestyclose6411 5d ago
He basically said this “Me thinks women not funny. Me thinks when women try funny, then women funny”
Or something like that. Not sure on the translation, I don’t speak caveman 🤷🏻♀️

Edit: Sorry that was really rude. I thought you referred to me as a dumbass and you didnt get my satire, so my response was out of bounds for that. I hope you didnt take it personal. I read your comment way too quick before responding

Hey, they were agreeing with you and just lamenting that the mods deleted the chuds comment before they got a chance. There was no attack against you or a misunderstanding of your joke

u/Anoobis100percent 5d ago
Well of course, we all know women are a monolith of the exact same person copy-pasted 4 billion times.

u/valsavana 5d ago
Little do these guys know that woman (not girl) wasn't really drunk, she just hated that specific man & wanted to see if she could psyop him into dehydrating himself to death.

As a woman in my 20s, I'm guilty of calling myself a girl 😭
5
u/valsavana 5d ago
I've worked hard to unlearn this habit but still slip up from time-to-time myself. Hopefully you at least try to unlearn it for yourself. I personally refuse to do the legwork of predatory men who want to normalize blurring the lines between women and children to make it easier to prey on the latter.

u/Acrobatic_Long_6059 5d ago
I think it partially comes from still feeling like a kid on the inside. The past few years genuinely flew by, it’s insane to think that 2017 will soon be 10 years ago

u/valsavana 5d ago
If it helps at all, try to frame it to yourself- "I am not a child. I'm an adult. Which means I'm the person who protects children. That's both a privilege and a responsibility, and to be able to do it I need to embrace the fact I am an adult."
I try to be the kind of adult that I wish had been around when I was a kid, so that goal gives one something to strive for.

u/Acrobatic_Long_6059 5d ago
I find it gross when men refer to me as a girl. Like the whole "men and girls" thing. But referring to myself, I'm ngl I definitely slip up

I kinda love that more people are mocking how pathetic and cringe these manosphere weirdos are. For a while people were being intimidated not to say anything or even feeling empathetic to the little psychos (MaLe LoNeliNeSs EpiDeMic), pendulum is finally swinging back to being logical and shaming them for being creeps.

No bitch. Those are two completely different things.

I don't think I understand women but I'm sure I understand men even less.
It is absurd how many men seem to think women are a monolith. Every fault they find with any woman they apply to every woman.
This especially doesn't make sense to me because I haven't had the best luck with women.
I've literally never dated somebody who didn't cheat on me, including my wife of 25 years. But I would never for a moment believe that my experience means that every woman cheats.
I'm more likely to conclude that there's some reason, something wrong with me, that makes them cheat but I don't think that's real either.
And what the hell is men's obsession with body count? They brag about their own but condemn women for theirs. Honestly I think it's all about insecurity.
There very well may be pigs who think that a woman is a tissue to be used up, but I think it's more about them thinking they can't measure up.
Personal insecurities will drive people to all sorts of stupidity.
Okay. Well that's my rambling Ted Talk for the morning. Now I should have coffee and regret this.

u/Dr_Simon_Tam Still Learning How Girls Work 5d ago
Not sure how people will react to this but gonna share my two cents anyway.
As a guy who is also a lifelong teetotaler, the vast majority of reactions I have got from women learning that has been positive and/or supportive.
But yeah I have also have the occasional really fucked up response like this.
Usually it’s “you don’t drink? But you’re a guy!” or “that’s really creepy”.
They are the exception, so far from colouring my impression of women as a whole. But yeah this is closer to real than I think many would like to admit.

same, but I think the point of the cartoon is to illustrate the ridiculousness of shoving a microphone in a random drunk girl's face, asking her a silly question, and then acting as though what she said was 1. a serious opinion and 2. an opinion shared by other women/women in general, for the purpose of attacking 'fEmALeS.'

u/dotdedo 5d ago
Also a lot of those random interview videos are faked to rage bait viewers into the person looking dumb. Like they will first show for example, a continent and say "can you name this continent" and they when they say Africa, they will in editing change the question to "Which country is this?" but keep the "africa" part so they can be like "THIS DUMB AMERICAN THINKS AFRICA IS A COUNTRY!"

Why are you randomly talking about rapists? No one mentioned rapists. Were you just thinking about rapists?
2
u/Used-Author-3811 5d ago
Because therapist is just weird. Whoever decided that needs therape utic measures
8
u/IndiBlueNinja 5d ago
People are allowed to not like you. They're even allowed to come up with a stupid sounding reason that may not be believable but was intended to translate as "leave me alone."
The distance between us and Pluto is still closer than the likeliness between someone not liking you and comparing it with rapists.
3
u/cheesypuzzas 5d ago
Hell no. There are a lot of men who are rapist. But that doesn't mean that all men are responsible for them. It just means that women will be afraid of running into one because there are so many of them. Percentage wise, there will be less rapist than good men, but it's still a significant number. And that's why women are afraid of all men until theyve gotten to know them.
But with one drunk girl who says something, it's a whole different story. You don't have to be afraid of this one girl who says something random. Women also don't think all men say "all women are whores even if they're a virgin because they're lying". That's just a few weird dudes. And very different from a rapist.
