Or maybe, yk, solve the problem permanently. They admit that’s what they desire, therefore they shouldn’t get to live in normal society, where they’re a danger to the public. There’s multiple ways to accomplish this. As long as it involves removing them from the general public, is actually effective and doesn’t produce excessive expenses, it’s a decent solution.

While my anger agrees, this is way to close to "thought police". They think that saying it is edgy, but what it does is normalize rapey group think. I do think this type of posting should be monitored. Too bad that costs money and requires the monitors to believe rape is wrong.
It's strange to me that the cops were created to catch runaway slaves (property) and now only protect property and the wealthy. The ingrates online often express that women should be sex slaves (property). Somehow these two "thoughts" don't work out to actually protecting women. I guess I should have known since children have fewer rights than we do and they are rarely protected and it only takes the rapist being rich men to completely bypass the justice system.
I think sexual crimes should be punishable by life in prison. They steal a life. Sure, most of the victims live, but these fuckers are never completely erased from our memories. If the victim decides on leniency after 10 years... maybe? Idk. Once a rapist, always a rapist. I'm not leaving out female offenders, here. They can all rot.

the phrasing you're echoing has been used throughout history to justify terrible abuses and is currently used in several countries to justify segregating women from society, work, support, services. This is not the way

Children often parrot what they hear the most. IK I said some stupid shit as a child. I am a 'normal' adult now lol. I cannot imagine what would happen if I'd been segregated from society because I parroted back things that sounded edgy to me to fit in.
I don't defend these kids either, mind you. I originally was just going to comment how this ruined my day,
But ... that comment is just as bad in a different way.

Yes I agree, children very much are sponges that absorb the world around them, for better or worse and I don't think any millenial (that was raised with the internet) wouldn't have been exposed to edgy, non-pc, crazy shit and some of that stuck to you as you were growing. Happened to you, happened to me too.
I don't think children were at the forefront of the OP's "let's remove these scoundrel's from society" mind when that comment was made so it what just a bit of a perplexing thing to bring up. Personally, I don't have an elegant solution for boys being indoctrinated into rape culture and I don't think being a minor absolves you of consequences either. Segregation/removal from society at large seems extreme but I understand the place where that came from, since I'm a survivor of rape myself, like many others here, as unfortunate as that is.
This is a nuanced discussion, a painful one to have too, I think.

It's not so much the fact that these little edgelords say ish like this as the fact that it functions to normalize sexual violence and encourage it, making it more likely that some of those exposed to it will commit SA and cause real physical harm to real people in the real world, in addition to whatever psychological harm they are causing with their words alone.

All of these people should be on a registry, and if they're ever in court, these comments should be blown up and shown to the jury, and finally, it should be public record offered to any woman they interact with so they know that they're dangerous.

Unfortunately, the internet is just society writ large. While it might see far away and small, these are the thoughts of real people. Since they have the ability to express it and even create platforms based on these thoughts, then they can draw in even more young vulnerable boys and men. Which creates an even larger community with draws in more. These are real thoughts. Not just the internet. And it sucks to remember that. Suddenly all the progress women made seems so far away...

I hate to like tacitly agree but hear me out. I was in the army and I boxed for 12 years. I’m a decently large guy. My brother and I teach a self defense class and I personally believe a good number of teachers in the industry scam women who don’t know any better. A defense class routed in boxing is going to be more effective. My wife is 5’4 yet she can throw hands and if you’re untrained (which honestly, most men are untrained and out of shape) she would mess you up. Also, if you can get a cc license that’s always a great thing to have. Learning firearm safety and getting some range time can be the difference between surviving or not. We live in Missouri, so good luck trying to attack her and living to tell about it.

I mean go for it? That’s a great way to break your hand and there’s nothing wrong with learning to use your body to throw a punch. You can generate a lot of power just by using good technique. Break their nose, not your hand.

Generally no, you won’t break your hand on the nose. Your wrist will break from the force applied to the face. Punching a human hurts more than you’d expect. Their face instantly stops whatever force you’re applying. The wrist is a fairly small structure and striking hard enough to break a nose is a gamble. That type of strike also isn’t guaranteed to break their nose. You don’t get much power from that unless you’re a pro fighter tbh. A solid punch where you turn your hips over and follow through with your shoulder will absolutely generate enough force to snap their nose. It takes the same amount of time and is way safer for you.

There are a lot of bs “self defense” techniques geared towards women that are overly complicated or simply don’t work, especially when it’s just a couple of lessons and not continuous training.
however a lot of places have a ban on self defense weapons (guns, knifes, even tasers and pepper spray) and it’ll likely be too late when you get it out of your purse, plus using something like pepper spray still requires training to be able to actually defend yourself properly.
A woman trained in self defense will have a much higher chance of fighting off a grown man than a non trained one.
