Remote jobs?

Title. I have a degree in chemical engineering and at the present moment am trying to escape a pretty bad employment situation. The problem is that I live in a rural area, and because of personal obligations I can't relocate for the time being.

Advice?

Westinghouse, GE, Oklo, Sargent & Lundy, and maybe a few others will have remote options. I'd also check with some of the subcontracting agencies out there -- can't vouch for them as employers, but they'll often have remote jobs supporting nuclear companies.

The remote is getting pretty rare, as many are pushing for RTO/hybrid or prefer being within a certain distance of the office so the remote is more visibility than reality.

remote engineering is a joke. we build stuff and you have to be there

i was in the same position years ago. mechanical engineering degree but in a rural area with no engineering jobs.. i went to work for a earthwork contractor. built a dam, helped maintain his big equipment, etc. after two years things changed and i went to work as an engineer, but construction kept food and beer on the table.
