what.. a ride. can’t imagine what it was like to watch this live, the show really is as good as everyone said it would be. long live nurse jackie!!

Just finished watching the show and all I can say is it ended like Edie’s other hit show the Sopranos. The viewers are left to make up their own ending.

Okay so i’m on my initial watch of the show thanks to seeing clips from Tik Tok all over my fyp, and is it just me or does the show get very hard to watch after season 4. I’m halfway through season 6 and it’s a battle getting through episodes. I binged the first 4 seasons in like two days but i’ve been on seasons 5 and six for almost a week. Idk if something changed with the writing staff, or if the new characters are to blame, but Prentiss just feels there to me and Dr. Roman is absolutely insufferable. O’Hara was one of my favorites and her leaving left a gap in Jackies story that I think the writers tried to fill with Zoey, but it’s just not the same. Plus I loved her and Coops interactions. Even Gloria lost some of her cartoony charm and feels like a shell of her former self. While I do appreciate her character growth and development with Jackie and the rest of the ER staff something is just… missing

I love Edie Falco and I think she's great in the role, but as an older woman myself I find it difficult to believe that all these younger men are dying to sleep with her. To me she looks to be in her mid-50s even in the early seasons, even though I know she was younger than that, and the constant talk about how pretty she is takes me out of it

Who do you think could have walked that line more convincingly? For me it's Gillian Anderson.

i just finished watching nurse jackie and i feel like the show fell off after season 4, maybe it’s a me thing because i like optimistic shows but taking the spotlight from characters we love or taking them off the show completely like momo and dr o’hara and focusing on new characters that we know nothing about and don’t bring anything to the table, the show after season 4 just felt empty, unfamiliar and depressing. and it felt incomplete on so many levels like the important things that happen in between seasons and gets no spotlight or just making us forget about things that happen with the og characters and shift the focus on new ones with no context..
the show represents addiction induced superiority complex perfectly and the thing is the addiction is never gonna stop if therapy wasn’t taken seriously to work on how her brain works first. because this is the main issue and jackie or anyone around her simply did not realise that.
jackie and people around her being from the older generation explains why she never cared about therapy in general, not for her, not for her daughters and this is the absolute root issue to why she’s never gonna recover neither will her daughters, or her relationships.
side note, i really loved o’hara and her leaving was the turning point for me. i’d rank this show a 6/10

Never saw Nurse Jackie when it originally aired. Now i am on season 3.

I never understood why she never asked O'Hara for a loan with some clever Jackie excuse regarding money and not tell Kevin cause well you know, he's Kevin instead of using the excuse for the kids tuition. Pretty sure O'Hara would have just given the money to Jackie instead of loaning it to her (hey a one time thing between us gals).

Should I rewatch Nurse Jackie? I watched it once all the way through and was HOOKED. But, as with any show, I feel you should watch again bc you always catch things you missed the first time around…and this sounds soooo silly but I got a pet bunny and I love to leave the tv on for her at night with the lights off and I started to put this show on for the “bunny” but I’m pretty sure it’s been for me bc I end up in the room watching when I should be taking my ass to bed lmao. Thoughts? Did you catch more from the show watching a second time (or more) around?

I don't know if this is an intentional thing (maybe ER patients going to another hospital because of the Norwegian corporate storyline), but why is the hospital closed at the beginning of the episode?

Jackie can't sleep due to dreams about relapsing, and goes to work 3 hours early. The new doctor, Bernard Prince, is hungover. The two of them lay down on the ER beds and he uses what I presume is saline to re-hydrate himself. He's also smoking, which they joke about.

How on earth is an ER in complete darkness and empty of any patients or other staff? I know it's fiction but aren't ER's supposed to be open 24/7 (even in the Nurse Jackie universe, a season 1 episode has them working a night shift).

For an Emmy winning show with great writing (most of the time), you'd think they'd notice this. Maybe I'm overthinking it but it's so weird 😭

So if Jackie hid her marriage and children for most of her nursing career and she has been working at the same hospital for 20 years, did she go into hiding when she was pregnant each time?

I just finished the show for the 3rd time and that last scene gets me every time. When she takes those 3 lines and looks at herself in the mirror and walks off in her own world. Then Zoey telling her she’s okay knowing what’s happening. I lost my sibling and a parent to an overdose, both of their drugs being mainly pills. I wonder if the last time they took their DOC if they knew it was their last and if the high was worth it. At the end Jackie is in la la land, high out of her mind, smirking not realizing the severity of the damage she’s creating for the people who love her. It’s just sad all around and I think she does a phenomenal job at the portrayal of addiction. Love this show!!

Has anyone else noticed that these two appear in a lot of shows together? I guess they have been friends for over 30 years and met in acting school in NY. They were first in an Indie film together called Laws of Gravity and then in a vampire film called The Addiction. They were also both in Oz and The Sopranos with Paul playing the priest, Father Intintola, who kept mooching Italian food off of Carmela and his other female parishioners and also had a kind of flirtatious relationship with Carmela and others. They were in episodes of L&O:SVU with Paul playing various characters and Edie often playing his defense attorney. Paul had a pretty big role in Nurse Jackie as Eddie, the pharmacist who helped feed her addiction and was also her ‘side piece.‘ He was in a few episodes of a show Edie did called Tommy that only lasted one season, he was in amother movie Edie starred in just a few years ago called I’ll be Right There, etc. I wonder if they will be in more future films/TV shows together. They act well together, but I was surprised that Paul pops up in so many things with her.

The info out there on this is that the official Nurse Jackie sequel series—reportedly titled Jackie—is currently in active development at Amazon MGM Studios for a streaming release on Prime Video. 

The Story Breakdown

• The Time Jump: The new series picks up exactly 10 years after the events of the 2015 series finale.
• The Plot: The official logline confirms that Jackie Peyton survived her ambiguous finale overdose. She is back on her feet, but she has completely lost her nursing license. The show will follow her facing new dilemmas as she tries to "be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun."
• The Name Change: Because she is no longer legally allowed to practice medicine, the sequel drops "Nurse" from the title and focuses strictly on her life outside the ER.

I have absolutely no idea if a sequel will actually happen or not. I just posted this as I have come across info from various sources about it.

Also, there was a planned alternate ending to the series that had All Saints Hospital catching fire and burning down. Jackie uses the chaos to fake her death and escape.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips revealed that the writers completely mapped out this climax before changing their minds ahead of filming.

The Alternate Fire Sequence

• The Blaze: A massive fire breaks out inside the emergency room during the final shift.
• The Heroic Act: Jackie sprints into the burning building to save a fellow addict patient who is handcuffed to a hospital bed in the basement.
• The Collapse: The hospital ceiling collapses on top of Jackie, leaving the staff and viewers to believe she died in the flames.
• The Escape: The camera cuts to Jackie squeezing herself out of a tiny basement window—a visual the creators described as being "like a birth".
• Running Away: Jackie walks into the alley, notices the crowd gathered outside watching the fire, turns around, and runs away in the opposite direction. She realizes she is finally free to start over with a completely clean slate.!<

I have to take monthly breaks in between watching this show because I get so heated watching Jackie fuck everyone around her. It was hard enough watching Zoey cry at finding the fake ID for the Nun but it's the malicious parts that get me. They're back to back to back. I know end of Season 6 is reaching the boiling point and things are probably about to explode so things are bound to start piling up. I want her ass in a jail cell.

I am an alcoholic and I'm trying really hard to stay empathetic and remember the exceptionally kind and good thing Jackie has done and that damn Steinbeck quote from the start of the show "It is a fact verified and recorded in many histories that soul capable of the greatest good is also capable of the greatest evil." Her lying, scheming and sneaking around is bad but it's the blatantly malicious things that really really send me over the edge.

As of writing this, she's been caught by Akilitis and is attempting to blame Dr. Roman for the insulin incident.

I’m rewatching the series and in the final episode at Fi’s confirmation when she’s stuck on the final sin, the whole family mouths “final impenitence”. I looked it up and it means “the deliberate, unyielding refusal to repent of one's sins and accept God's mercy up until the moment of death”.

I think it’s interesting because Jackie chooses her drugs instead of the vast opportunities she’s given to start over. Even after nearly losing her license, she uses immediately and it’s as if she slapped everyone in the face who believed in and supported her. One could say this was her refusal to repent and accept Gods mercy, and further it could be a strong indicator that she did in fact die at the end (until the moment of death).

I think they deliberately used that specific sin to be singled out. There are so many other signs that I’ve noticed throughout the series that she dies, but this one is the most obvious. Anyone else catch that?

I just started watching 2 days ago and am halfway thru season 2. Omg I love Zoey so much!

I tried watching the show twice before and never could get past the first episode. Then I saw clips of Jackie’s better nursing moments on Instagram and decided to give it another shot. I’m so glad I did. It’s just the perfect show. I’m in the healthcare field amd am surprised that the lack of hardcore medical storylines still interests me. It’s just enough to satisfy me but not bore a lay person.

Anyways just had to share.

I would have to say it’s between Grace and Dr. Carrie Roman. I just disliked how Grace was, and how she became has she grew into a teen, it just got worse and worse. Very troubled even before anyone knew Jackie was on drugs and before her parents seperating, she was already having so many issues. Anger issues, OCD, Anxiety, Overthinking, and she’s take out her anger specifically on Jackie, (“because Jackie worked to much”)when Jackie was the one paying bills and Rent. Just very bratty and irritating. Dr. Carrie Roman was lazy and manipulative. She would use Dr. Cooper to do her job because he liked her. Then she threatened to sue All Saints if they fired her when in all reality she was having intimate relations on the job, while avoiding to do any type of work all day everyday.

I just finished Nurse Jackie last night for the second time. Now I’m like what do I watch next… I love how Nurse Jackie had me engaged and captivated from the episodes. I hate when shows start off slow
