Housing apartment looking
i’m a second year looking to live off campus next year. what are apartments you guys would recommend that are relatively close to campus, pretty safe, and good amenities in the living space?

Are you willing to drive to campus? Because even a ten minute drive from campus can drastically affect the rent you pay. I moved to UA into a 2 bedroom apartment for 1200 a month. I don’t think there’s any place like that within walking distance

You can easily find $600/person on south campus like a block or two from campus. Plus South (9th or higher) in my opinion is the safest part of university district). People just sleep on Buckeye real estate. By far the best group realtor in the campus area.
This is not a paid endorsement by Buckeye real estate (I wish it was)

I know some guys paying that, but two of them live in the basement and they have bars on their windows. Great location though.

I was at a place off of Frambes with cooper properties last year. Very nice for the price and pretty responsive to the very few maintenance issues I had. I recommend a property from them if you can find one. But places will fill fast, and if you want to get some of your earlier picks of rentals, you’ll want to make a decision as soon as you can

Go to Zillow, apartments.com, and offcampus.osu.edu to look at listings for houses that are within your range for price, location, and # of people. Go through a lot of them and write down the best ones that you see in a spreadsheet or something.
Additionally, you can make time to take a walk around an area you want to live in and make note of phone numbers or websites for independent landlords. Oftentimes, the best places are hidden because smaller landlords don't have as big of a footprint digitally.
Here is some of what I've heard about different landlords:
Pella: SLS said their lease offer was very fair, and so far their maintenance has been very responsive with issues.
Hometeam: have not heard any positive things about this one. You can research them more, but I would recommend not renting from them.
North Steppe: I have heard mixed things about them. My friend has some power issues with them that took a while to get resolved.
Riverwatch Tower could be a good option. My friends have positive things to say about it, and they are within walking range.
Luxury apartments like the Rambler, Point on Lane, or most anything directly on Lane or High for that matter, were much too expensive for me to consider, but may be financially an option for you. Additionally, there are luxury apartments like Altitude way out across the river for you to consider, but you need to drive, take the bus, or bike to get to campus. For the price though, altitude has a lot of amenities like a pool, furniture, and other things.
It is good that you're thinking about where you want to live now, because it will be too late quicker than you know it.
