Dr. Muto is a platformer video game developed and published by Midway Games in 2002 for the original Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube with a Game Boy Advanced port by Digital Eclipse released in 2003. Dr. Muto was the final game by Ed Logg, best known for games like Asteroids and Centipede.

A hidden bonus video from the Hercules (2014) Blu-ray

This is a cassette I never expected to find. It is largely the cassette equivalent of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab’s 8444! Union Pacific vinyl release, which is a 2 record LP. This on the other hand is the cassette variant, which I didn’t know existed until I shockingly found one at an antique store.

There are some differences from the vinyl release. This one has a catalog number of C2-8444, as opposed to 2-8444 for the vinyl release. I only found one cassette without a J-Card. Both sides are labeled “Side 1” and “Side 2,” which corresponds to side one and side two of the vinyl release. They both play the same. Sides 3 and 4 from the vinyl release are not on this tape and I am unsure if this release ever came with another tape containing sides 3 and 4.

This is BASF Chrome tape at 70μs EQ (type II position) with Dolby B NR. The recording tabs were cut, which I mentioned because one was crudely cut.

I have digitized this tape in 24bit/48kHz with Dolby B turned on. Keep in mind that this, like other Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab cassettes, is not a hot recording.

The Discogs entry for the cassette release is my submission and I created the master release to group it with the vinyl release, which says it is a Japan release. I left the country as Japan until someone who knows more can shed light.

Side two is an enigma. It was partly taped over with two answering machine messages, then what sounds like it is going to be another message playing, but conveniently gets cut back to the 8444! original audio. I turned NR off on the messages then turned it back on after it gets cut back.

The answering machine messages are about books, so I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal if I left it in. No last names mentioned, probably from decades ago anyway.

I'm back, here's today's digitzed find. These kind of records are surprisingly common in the vanity pressing world. A bunch of nuns from a convent get together and sing various songs, sometimes hymns, sometimes rock, sometimes Broadway, but surprisingly common in an already very niche zone. This one comes from The Daughters of St. Paul. If you want more info, please check the description of the video!

She asks Steve Leckie why he cuts himself, and while speaking with Frankie Venom she told him, "I've been listening to you this evening, and the Viletones, and if I may be honest the only thing I got out of it was a headache." Frankie responds, 'Oh gee, yeah? Tough.""

Crash 'n' Burn is an experimental film shot in and named after Toronto, Ontario's first punk club by Canadian filmmaker Ross McLaren in 1977. (Not to be confused with Peter Vronsky's 1977 documentary on Toronto Punk shot for the CBC television network.) The film, shot on 16mm black-and-white stock, features punk rock performances by The Viletones, Dead Boys, Teenage Head, The Boyfriends, and The Diodes at venues such as; the New Yorker Theater in Toronto and the CBGB and the Times Square Motor Inn in New York City."

One song from a strange record I found recently at a record store (in the "Sports" section) looks like it was from a compilation album for a song competition in the 70's in the Cayman Islands. All the songs were made by amateur musicians according to the back of the record (I'll post the full back cover for more info in the comments)

This release presents "Toonsylvania". A very rare show that many people have been looking for.

For this project, I used a variety of different sources to create the best possible versions of these lost episodes of Toonsylvania.

I am still currently working on the series and will be uploading more episodes as they are completed.

I currently have a total of 13 episodes to work with, but I am still missing English audio for Season 1, Episodes 12 and 13, as well as Season 2, Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8.

If anyone has copies of these episodes with English audio, please let me know. I would love to combine them with the other sources I already have so I can restore the remaining episodes and hopefully make the series as complete as possible in English.

The restoration involved extensive manual work, including:

• Video cleanup and enhancement
• Manual frame repairs and corrections
• Color, brightness, and contrast correction in DaVinci Resolve
• Replacing damaged frames with better frames from alternate sources when necessary
• AI-assisted upscaling with Topaz Video AI
• Audio restoration and synchronization using Audacity and iZotope RX 11
• Final editing and mastering in Final Cut Pro

Preservation note:

No changes were made to the story, performances, or original content. My goal was simply to preserve the original presentation of the series while improving the video and audio quality as much as possible.

Final presentation: 1080p HD restoration

I found this clip while browsing Petit Tube. It was uploaded by Youtube account Katokantro and looks like an old VHS recording of a dubbed anime. The account has uploaded a few other clips of old anime with their titles, so it seems the title of this one is 'Floating Dream Theatre MSX'. I've found that MSX was an old computer system from the 80s, and Dream Theatre was a rock band from the 80s-90s who are still active.

It's got a strange pixel art style that I haven't quite seen in any other media, and I haven't been able to find any more info about it online. I've searched the Internet Archive plus anime forums. My conclusion is that this is from an old series that has not been recorded on the internet (or at least, the English speaking internet). Does anyone have a clue about how to find the full anime?

Directed by Coil's Peter Christopherson. This doom-ridden cover of Tainted Love was the band's commentary on the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis. This was first (IIRC) music video added to New York's Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.
