That was a huge honeymoon destination back then. She looks like a movie star. I hope her marriage has been a happy one.

And she's tastefully dressed, no ankle.

I just got back from Lake George last week and I can confirm it is indeed exactly the same.

We used to camp at Lake George when I was a kid every single year! The fishing was great!

Tomorrow is the Blueberry Fest.

I really miss New York.

She looks a lot like my grandmother when she was young!

When I think about "a grandma when she was young", I picture the 1940s through maybe the early 1960s.

I hate seeing a picture of a young bride in 1986 with the caption "My grandma on her wedding day"; It always makes me feel 2.5 gazillion years old!

Is your grandma Grace Kelly?

28

u/Brilliant_Boss_9680 Jul 24 '26

I’ve been up there a couple of times, it’s nice up there. I know the back way, it’s like a country ride most of the way .

u/someone_like_me Jul 24 '26

Have you also been to Lake George?

8

u/bakersmt Jul 25 '26

Not who you asked but I'm from that area and I know the building behind her. As of a few years ago, it was still standing.

2

u/toddhold Jul 25 '26

Can I get a pin on the map?

2

u/bakersmt Jul 25 '26

I'm 40 and grew up there before GPS, and don't live there now. Sadly I know HOW to get there but not anything to do with a map. I can tell you it's on the western side of the lake going up Lake Gore Drive. I don't exactly know the township but near Bolton. If you hit the Sagamore, you've gone too far.

That would be a "whoosh". Read the post title, the comment above, and my reply.

Grandpa did well the night before.

7

u/15minutesofshame Jul 24 '26

Grandma? More like Gams-ma!

5

u/pbal020 Jul 24 '26

Grandpa never stood a chance.

6

u/dougsbeard Jul 25 '26

Nice gams, grams!

Cool picture, looks very modern.

Lake George is a special place.

5

u/Kidspud Jul 24 '26

Less special each time a property is bought by some westchester republican and turned into a shitty log cabin/mcmansion hybrid

5

u/vicariouslydrew Jul 25 '26

Dude. Lake George upstate NY let’s goooooo! I went on plenty of “vacations” there while growing up because it was cheap and close. My parents never let me feel like we were poor. And our yearly trip to lake George to stay in a hotel and play mini golf was a big deal.

u/beepbooponyournose Jul 24 '26

She’s beautiful!

4

u/FancyWear Jul 24 '26

She is certainly beautiful!

5

u/Gwsb1 Jul 25 '26

Grandpa was a lucky man.

3

u/DrMartinVonNostrand Jul 25 '26

Mark me down for "would"

3

u/Vistalite_Black Jul 25 '26

Lake George is magical. Spent time there when I was 14-15, and returned for a week’s vacation at 60 years old — and it was absolutely unchanged in every aspect.

3

u/TheJenniStarr Jul 25 '26

My god, it’s beautiful… yes, your grandma too, but I specifically mean a Lake George that wasn’t shitstained by Dilligaf stores every block.

3

u/SeattleNerdSea Jul 25 '26

Got them cheeks clapped

3

u/davey_mann Jul 25 '26

Bingrid Ergman

2

u/el-beau Jul 24 '26

Wow. I grew up in lake george and think I know where that is.

2

u/falsevector Jul 25 '26

Looks like OP won at the genes lottery

2

u/Outrageous_Pop1913 Jul 25 '26

Every old man was once young and full of dreams, every grandma was once a young chicky… Live your life, it goes fast.

3

u/ExRockstar Jul 24 '26

You know.... the night before....

4

u/FnordRanger_5 Jul 24 '26

Granny, all stretched out on her honeymoon

2

1

u/Ezrismomna Jul 24 '26

1

u/MtnMaiden Jul 25 '26

ELI5: the appeal of laying in the sun with clothes on, during vacation.

I can do that in the back yard.

1

u/QueasyFinger1316 Jul 25 '26

She could be a model!

(Best Reddit meme ever)

1

u/lordsummerisleswig Jul 25 '26

This looks like an outtake from Leave Her To Heaven!

1

u/MsMo999 Jul 25 '26

What a hunny

1

u/Alamander81 Jul 25 '26

My parents had their honeymoon at Lake George in 1977

1

u/Steve554433 Jul 26 '26

My mother was about that age then.

1

u/ShadowsOfTheBreeze Jul 24 '26

Kodachrome dreams

0

u/LayneLowe Jul 24 '26

Pawpaw wore her out

-1

u/someone_like_me Jul 24 '26

She looks a bit tuckered out. Had she gone for a long ride that morning?

-7

u/No_Hour_4865 Jul 24 '26

Oh my, all freshly deflowered. 1950 was a great year.

1

u/Kishersweets Jul 25 '26

With a very happy face and a smile. Second please!

1

u/ceruleania Jul 25 '26

You guys are so awkward

0

u/Soppydogg Jul 24 '26

And I am sure Granny isn't thinking about the smallmouth bass ....

0

u/jett1964 Jul 25 '26

…and working on baby #1. Possibly your parent.

0

u/Swineservant Jul 25 '26

Where's the mushroom cloud? Pre-war Fallout vibes. The place could use some Mirelurks. Very nice!

0

u/s27fel Jul 25 '26

Grace Kelly vibes

-4

u/mideon2000 Jul 24 '26

It's 1950. Grammy needs to put more clothes on and cover up. She is basically nekkid in this pic.
