Oh, thats why i dont got it. I've read everything from pushkin except his poems. Maybe i need to read it now 😅

Yes, well, in Russia he's mainly valued for his poetry. His prose is nice but his poetry is brilliant, so easy to read, flowy and natural as breathing. It's beautiful both in its imagery and wording. Of course, it might be hard to convey all that in translation, so I don't know if you'd like him translated in English, but in Russian he's absolutely peerless

Wow i didnt knew that, but basically every russian author i've read mentioned him or his stories/poems, and i know that he was a huge influence. Unfortunately i dont speak russian, and translation was always something i was worried about when it comes to poems, but i think that the translation from most stories to german is pretty good. The translation from Dostojewski's books won some prize, Translation from Gogol won a prize too, and the Translation vom Bulgakov seems really good aswell. Its, been a few years since i read pushkin, but i remember that i really liked it. Guess i'll try his poems soon 😅

Yeah, apparently didn't care for Objectivism 🤣🤣 He also ate a half Oz of white widow A .45 caliber pistol round that belonged to my dad My grandmother's rosary.. that dog was kind of a dick! I miss that fucker! lmfao

Judy Blume 🤮 I remember being the right age for Judy Blume books, trying to read a few, and feeling like an adult was trying to talk to me like I was still five. I mean, it wasn't quite that bad, but I really felt like my intelligence was being insulted.
Oscar Wilde gets my vote for books to give to cats.

I’m from Eastern Europe, and I honestly can’t stand all this Tolstoevsky romanticization. I had to study this stuff in school, presented as the height of intellectual culture, instead of learning about writers from my own country—many of whom were imprisoned, persecuted, or murdered by the Soviet regime. So it’s pretty frustrating to see the same Russian literary canon constantly romanticized in the West as something universally profound and sophisticated.

Dostoevsky is always hard. Start slow with some Dr. Seuss then maybe some Shakespeare, Emerson, and Dickens. Then circle back to Dostoevsky.
