Blonde We need a way to opt out of memorial threads. The world is so bleak, and I can’t even look at cats. (Picture of my perfect boy, because it’s the rules.)

New Rules - no medical/veterinary advice and update to Rule 5 (Animal abuse)

Hi all, just wanted to note that there's been an update to the rules. As the sub grows larger and attracts more attention, the mods wanted to make it clear that animal abuse, in any situation, is never acceptable. Now, photos that include a cat that could be put into peril are not allowed either. This includes photos of cats in dryers, dishwashers, etc. We know it's cute your cat climbed in there! But it is not a safe practice for them and we do not want to encourage others to post similar photos.

Additionally, there is a new no medical/veterinary advice rule. If you need medical advice for your cat, please post on r/CATHELP or r/askvet instead.

As always, if you see something that doesn't belong on the sub, please use the report button. Your reports are how the mods see material that needs to be taken down.

Løvetand!!! A feral momma left him in a tire. His checkups have gone well and besides worms and fleas and a URI (all now dealt with) he is healthy. ❣️

He does have his orange moments, but for the most part he’s so chill and is just the bestest boy. He’s ~10ish but runs circles around my 2 and 3 year old cats haha

Harrington recently celebrated one year of happiness in his new home. This Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, please think about whether you might want to support a local shelter if you can.

Peaches and cream Just got an orange kitten and feels pretty overstimulated. Is your orange cat very vocal or did they grow out of it?

Hi everyone! I recently got an orange kitten (2.5 months old) and I’ve been having a really hard time adjusting. He’s so sweet and cuddly but the biggest thing for me is he has been crying 24/7. I adopted him last Wednesday so we’re on day 6 now. I feel like the crying has gotten better but if I am not laying down next to him, petting him or playing with him he screams and meows with no return. It can go for multiple hours and it’s driving me insane 😭 it’s the worst in the morning. He has everything he needs - food, water, clean litter box etc.

I also have a golden retriever, they are integrating pretty well. There has been some hissing but overall going good. The vet told me it’s very normal at this age for him to cry and is getting used to his surroundings. One of my friends said orange cats are known for being “demons” and I basically got the most difficult cat and I’m in for a whirlwind. This stressed me out pretty bad bc I am very sensory sensitive and it made me feel now until he’s much older is going to be rough lol.

I’m mainly wondering are orange cats normally this vocal? My dog is very vocal and I don’t mind, but to this level is a lot. Did your orange cats calm down with crying eventually if you got them as kittens? I have heard after adopting all about single kitten syndrome, sadly I’m not in the position financially where I can support three pets so that is not an option for me. Thanks in advance for any comments! 🙏🐱

He’s so cute but sadly he’s agressive, he scratched my hand the two times I petted him, he seemed friendly at first tho
