Room Change request
The housing and dining services said they were "stacked" with room change requests and I have been calling constantly since I would like to know what the heck my room will be since I got an economy triple in Wilson(which I do not want). Should I escalate as they have not been giving me straight answers as to when I will know and if I will even get my desired roommate?
Even better, if someone is on the inside could give just some insight? I need to know some of this information as I am coming from out of state, so I have to plan my move in and travel accordingly. Thanks!

You are one of hundreds calling I imagine, with everyone wanting the same answers. If you haven’t gotten a straight answer yet when asking for a timeline, that’s because the staff probably don’t know. You also aren’t going to be the only one escalating, therefore causing another wait.
Not the answer you want, but the reality is they can’t make every single person who wants singles and doubles happy.
ETA: I know it will probably feel like it, but this isn’t meant as directed just at you and to be a dickhead, just a reminder of what’s likely going on

All I have been asking is if I will be reassigned before classes start and I worry about not being reassigned before classes. I mean, why else are we supposed to be filling out the "preoccupancy room change request" by August 31st? They should at least be able to tell me that much, no?

Consider this, they have a ton of people who all want to change rooms before the start of term so it’s a logistical nightmare trying to get everyone a room that they are fine with. Things like this take time and repeated calls will not help. Also, what is so bad about a triple? I was in a triple my first year and it was fine, you won’t be spending a ton of time in your dorm anyways so why not go with the cheaper option.

Unfortunately, I will be spending time in my dorm. I have a medical condition that fatigues me and the last thing I want is for a crowded room with strangers.

This seems like something DAS could handle and you could get a housing accomodation for.

Maybe, I just don't think my condition is serious enough to warrant an accommodation. Also, would it not be weird to suddenly come forward and say I need an accommodation?

i emailed housing before fall term in 2023 for single room for disability accommodations, and i received a single faster than DAS responded to setting up a meeting for my request. send them an email.

Did you do this after you applied for housing? My current issues stem from a surgery that was beneficial but ultimately is side effecting me with fatigue and soreness, and I am still figuring out how it affects me now. It just feels like an excuse if I used my medical stuff after applying for housing.

If it’s serious enough for a room change then it warrants an accommodation

You go to the disability center, and put in all your paperwork. Then they might be able to either contact housing for you, or send you with a letter to speak to housing

That I would have to contact them remotely, I am not local enough to go in person, though that would make things quicker T-T, but that is a good idea.

Wait? There’s a room change request deadline of August 31st??? I haven’t even received my initial assignment.

Yes! That is why I am alarmed they haven't given final room assignments or a date for room changes before school starts.

After reading through all your replies, you might just have to suck it up and live in the triple for maybe a month. Once you're on campus, go to DAS and see if you can get accommodations. By then, there might be a little more wiggle room from people dropping out immediately 💀 but ultimately there isn't a ton you can do right now. They will definitely have rooms assigned before the term starts as well, so don't worry about that

So, you've submitted the request on the housing website AND called 3 times? If you think you can use the DAS, you might have better luck, otherwise, at this point, it's just a waiting game. When did you get assigned the economy triple in Wilson?
My daughter and her roommate were assigned to Wilson back when they first started releasing the housing, submitted the change request the same day and then called the next day. They were reassigned within 24 hours (given an offer) and are now set for Poling. I think it's just a wait and see by now, sadly.
Also, to note, one of her old soccer friends was assigned a economy triple in McNary and there are only two of them, so you might get lucky and still only have 1 roommate in your triple.

You can say you have religious needs to pray, they will put you in the ILLC. It’s the only dorm with a multi-faith praying room. Of course, living at the ILLC is bit pricey but it’s comfortable, you have a private or semi private toilet.
