Their chocolate chip cookie dough was my favourite ever and the last time two times I had it, it was so soft & airy. Not thick & creamyThe quality was way down. Has anyone else noticed it?

I saw something online called thai jade noodles and it doesn't seem very common and then I got the idea to ask everyone on here what your favorite ottawa noodles are!

I live above The Soca Kitchen on Beechwood and they have officially started closing (they were taking out furniture and fixtures yesterday and I think they’ve wrapped service). It’s a tough spot for restaurants and we’ve been told that the dentist’s office next door is expanding into the space.

Walked down Somerset today and it seems that the Tealive store is reopening under new management. Their hours seem a bit weird though - 4pm-midnight Monday to Friday and 1pm-1am Saturday.

Anyone know anywhere in Ottawa that sells these? They were discontinued in Canada years ago, but still available in other countries, including France. Any stores that might import and carry them?

Two Mexican restaurants in town had this dessert but were out of it when I stopped by. I feel the universe might not want me to eat tres leches... In case the universe is wrong, where can I find the best tres leches in town?

Need lunch ideas. Celebrating the kids back at school, looking for a neat spot for lunch to have some adult drinks and split some appetizers. Ideally, not somewhere downtown.

I love this salad more than anything and want to make it for my lunches. I will still be a loyal customer! Love their pizza too. But having this recipe or one like it would change my life.

Looking for a local store that carries the Local Stores with KALITA Wave 185 Coffee Filters. I can get them on Amazon for a decent price including shipping but would prefer to support a local business that I can pick up from.

Unfortunately online Canadian coffee suppliers have to charge shipping, which is almost as much as the filters - not their fault just the way it is.

Don’t you hate it when restaurants that used to be good have sharp declines in quality. I’m not talking about price or service but just quality of food.

My most recent experience of this was at Koichi ramen in Westboro. I normally go to the Somerset location which is consistently good and the Westboro one has been fine whenever I visited. This time around the Ramen was so bad it was not funny. First of all the bowl was all noodles and very little broth. Instead of pork belly it looked like they substituted a half inch dry slab of overcooked pork loin. And even weirder they put a slab of butter on it - I guess to add some moisture and fat content.

[edit. I’m told below this is authentic in the North. Fair enough but even if so the execution was way off. Pork completely dry and overcooked and butter just a cold slab without enough broth to melt it.]

I have stopped complaining about stuff in restaurants so ate what I could and politely let the server know how bad it was when I was paying. She kindly offered a dollar off which I declined. I’m not looking for discounts but quality food.

I will not be back to either location.

on Murray at Parent. Man, this place is the most unique food experience I’ve had in a while. Not sure of the prevalence of Georgian/Armenian cuisine but this guy is using quality ingredients: Georgian cheese, purple basil, lamb, kinkhali. Vibes are good, prices are fair, crowd is warm and friendly just like the service. Georgia is where wine originated and this guy is passionate. This is the original food and wine culture 👏👏👏🙌🙌

Some of my top picks are fritters from Little German Bakery in Carleton Place. Danishes from Cafe Butte and Binne Farm in South Glengarry. Bread from Sour Jo's in Cobden.

I just got here as an international student and will be going to Carleton University. I’m Indian, so I would like to try out other cuisines.

I’ve noticed that vegetarian options at many major chain restaurants are limited. I’m vegetarian but eat dairy and eggs (not vegan).
