Munro

I wanted to do at least one day hike and summit a Munro, I have it narrowed down to Bruach Na Frithe or Bla Bheinn. I am an experienced hiker, comfortable with class 2 and low class 3 scrambling. Any input on which would be a better summit if I only had one good day of weather.

They are both wonderful days. I'd be hard pushed to call it, as I have incredibly happy memories of both: however I might choose Bla Bheinn purely because there is something special about parking at sea level - by the shore! - and doing every one of those meters! Both gorgeous though.

If you park at Sligachan for BNF you're basically at sea level as well

True! It's just that wee spot up hill to the parking bit - something about the seaside parking for Bla Bheinn made it feel like a FULL munro somehow, if you get me? I am maybe being weird though I kniw!

Both magnificent though, really top notch walks.

I am not going lie I googled the spelling of meter because I thought I had been spelling it wrong my whole life. Well apparently both versions are correct.

Honestly my spelling is awful - always has been, especially with words that sound the same but have different spellings (if that makes sense). 

None of which effects your trip to Skye 🤣

May I suggest another great walk - not a hill though but a great coastal walk with an abandoned clan house, a viking dry dock and a chambered cairn

Both incredible mountains. Bruach na Frithe if you want to get a taste of the Black Cuillin ridge, which is utterly incredible. No technical bits other than some time on a steep scree slog. Before sumitting, go left once you hit the top of the scree and go up Sgurr a Bhasteir (not Am Basteir! You'd need rope). The view from there onto Sgurr nan Gillean and the Basteir's tooth is magnificent. After that, head to the summit of BNF. On a good day the view from Bruach Na Frithe onto the ridge is incredible. Though one of the easiest on the ridge, I reckon one with the best views both ways. 

That said Bla Bhein has one of the most incredible views over the entire Red and Black Cuillin range from its lonesome place. I think is one of the best views in Scotland. Some fun but easy scrambling near the top. 

Basically you can't go wrong, it's just up to what you're after.

From the advice on this post I will prioritize doing Bla Bhein and if I am lucky enough to get 2 good weather days I will Bruach Na Firthe too.

I think I just wanted something a bit challenging but not out of my comfort zone. I live in Alaska and hike a lot, but I really don’t want to meet your rescue group either. I have absolute respect as a tourist in Scotland that your mountains will be very a different experience for me.

Bruach na Frithe is the only non technical day on the Black Cuillin. I remember Bla Bheinn being quite tricky on the descent because it was wet for us. So, if its wet on your tulip Bruach na Frithe. Save Bla Bheinn for a dry day.
