Hey folks, we hear you. These posters are expensive and we completely fumbled their release. Can we restart the loop and try again?
We realize we didn't do a good job explaining the quality and process behind Cook & Becker’s posters. The artwork for these posters were inspired by the vintage Rob Decker National Park posters. We were excited to rerelease our artwork with a printing style similar to how those original posters would have been printed in the 70s. As some folks have pointed out, yes, these posters are all individually hand-printed using a screen printing technique that requires a real human person to load up each color layer, press it onto the paper, and set and align the next color layer. Cook & Becker use a very high quality, 100% cotton material and high quality inks for the prints, which provides unmatched print quality and color fastness, making these screenprints “museum quality” and ready to last a lifetime. We'll be posting more info and videos of the process and handmade nature of the posters so you can see exactly what goes into making each one.
But we also understand this means they’re expensive and out of budget for most people. To let you into our merchandising process a little bit, we were also surprised by how expensive Cook & Becker’s artworks can be when we were first introduced to them. The folks at Cook & Becker were gracious enough to work with us to keep the price of the whole collection of posters as low as possible without compromising on the quality of the artworks. One of the reasons we haven’t rereleased the postcard version of these artworks is because the variance in print color and quality between printing runs has been disappointing and frustrating. Cook & Becker’s meticulous process and expertise gave us a lot of reassurance that we would not have the same issues for these prints. We want to provide you all with the best quality merchandise we can, but in this case, we understand this led to us producing something highly desired but too expensive for the majority of our fans. And without an affordable option available for purchase, that’s a really bad look. We hope you will forgive us.
If it helps at all, we’ve decided to look into restocking the classic printed cardstock postcards for the future, despite our past issues with them, for those who aren’t interested in these new premium fine art prints. Now also feels like an appropriate time to reveal that we have been working on a couple more standard merch projects: a re-release of our popular Echoes of the Eye Metal T-shirt and a new set of Traveler pins created by our excellent artist, Lara Colson. After hearing your concerns, we’ve decided to release the shirts as a pre-order so no one misses out on getting one. This means it’ll be several weeks before they’ll ship out because we’ll wait to screenprint them until we have your orders. As for the pins, they will only be a limited quantity right now since we ordered them awhile ago and have been waiting for the shirt to be ready so we could release and ship them together. Keep an eye out for their release soon!
We’re all hard at work on our next game, which as you all know is still a secret and still a few years away from any announcements. In the meantime, we don’t have a lot of capacity for designing new merchandise made by our team directly, so new merch will be made by external artists at partners like Fangamer or Youtooz. And occasionally, as resources allow, we’ll rerelease merch like the Metal T-Shirt. As long as there are new fans of Outer Wilds, we want to keep releasing merch with our various merch partners for you all to enjoy.
As always, you all have been such wonderful fans and we really appreciate all the love and support, the fan art, the discussions and feedback, the mods, and the excitement for our next game. Our next game is our top priority and we hope you all love it even half as much as Outer Wilds.

Hello Travelers,
Mobius here. New limited-edition Outer Wilds posters are now available!
You might be saying “Hey, these look familiar.” And you’d be right! We worked closely with the folks at Cook & Becker to bring you bigger versions of the national park-themed posters based on the solar system’s major planets. These are those very same illustrations by our artist Ian Jacobson.
The first few hundred orders come with a Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed by artist Ian, while supplies last. As indicated on the order form: "Artist-signed Certificate of Authenticity." Once those run out, subsequent orders will come with an autopen-signed CoA.
These time-limited prints are ONLY available until August 25th, with the final edition size being determined then, and cost $79.95 each. However, there is a one-week deal where you can get all six for $299 as a set instead of $480!
Each poster measures 21 x 29cm, or 8.2 x 11.4 inches
Head on over to Cook and Becker's website to check them out: https://www.cookandbecker.com/en/catalog/videogame/outer-wilds
Thanks again for all your support. Keep on exploring!

Edit: Whoops, looks like we did a terrible job communicating what these actually are: handmade fine art prints. These posters/prints are all individually hand-printed using a screen printing technique that requires a real human person to load up each color layer, press it onto the paper, and set and align the next color layer. Cook & Becker use a very high quality, 100% cotton material and high quality inks for the prints, which provides unmatched print quality and color fastness, making these screenprints “museum quality” and ready to last a lifetime. These are not normal prints, they are quite special.

Sometimes when I'm flying through the solar system I find what looks like a planet, but when I try to land on it it disappears. What is it???. (If it's a spoiler pls don't tell me I'm new)
Edit: I've been thinking and I think it is made of that one rock that tp's when you don't look at it at timber hart

You're an exemplary community r/outerwilds, your patience and dedication to explorers is truly aspirational. But I can't go on reading through another post that reminds me of what I can no longer have. I leave you with the hope that by not being reminded of this game's brilliance I will eventually forget enough that I can return and enjoy this again ::')

So I was in the Ash Twin Project room and the cycle was nearing its end. I was going through the room and arrived to the point where I had access to the warp core. I was totally clueless and picked it up, after which I proceeded to roam around the room with it, realizing that I didn't have a way out. The person I was on a discord call with at that moment made a comment that the thing I had in my hands was quite important, and that I should be sure what I was doing if I were to take it away.
Hearing that, I went back to where I took it and noticed that the music was muted when I took the device away, so I played with it for a few seconds, and over the span of the next few instants my two remaining brain cells connected the dots until I realized that if I didn't put this thing back I was screwed.
Explanation: since the purpose of this warp core is to maintain the cycle, the core not being in place would lead to a death without sending the memories to my past self, and with it the end of the game.
I managed to put it back just in time before the star exploded, and now I have another funny moment to remember about this game.

Ok, so here's my situation: I believe there is just one more thing I need to uncover in this game. I've gone through the whole game blind until now, but I've been stuck here for about 8 hrs in-game-time, so I think I'm ready for an ever-so-slight nudge. I'm avoiding the DLC until I untangle the main quest (although it was cool to accidentally find it)
Here's what I know to be important right now:
I have the coordinates to the Eye of the Universe
I found the Vessel, giving me a place to input the coordinates. However, the advanced warp core is broken
The Ash Twin Project has an advanced warp core on the inside, but it is at the central chamber of the Ash Twin, completely encased in a thick protective shell that has no cracks or entrances
Some question marks:
I found a seed in Dark Bramble that leads somewhere that doesn't seem to be anywhere on the map. It had a very exquisite-looking hallway with humanoid statues on the other side. I couldn't find this seed again after going back and looking many times, but I'm not sure this has anything to do with my main quest right now.
Of all the 6 warp panels on Ash Twin, the only one that doesn't seem to be used is the one representing Ash Twin. There was the entry about the fact that the twins are counted as one planetary unit, so I don't think this is necessarily important.
I'm kind of lost as to where the Quantum Moon fits in at this point. Upon speaking with the Nomai there, you learn that the big hole in the sky IS the Eye, but when you go in it, you just end up back on the south pole of the Quantum Moon. Might be a dead end...
What I think I need to do next:
I think I need to find a way inside the Ash Twin Project, but the HOW is what's getting to me. I know there must be no physical way in there (although I've checked the surface of Ash Twin right before the supernova several times just in case). There isn't anything in the logs pointing to a potential warp point to get inside. I know the advanced warp core is in there but that seems to only open the portal back in time to the very start, so not particularly useful to get inside.
Maybe I need to find a way to repair the advanced warp core that I found in the Vessel, but I really have no idea how I'd do that. One of my first thoughts was the black hole forge, as I think that's where the other one was made, but it seems to be broken?
Side note: I love this game so much. Landing on the Quantum Moon for the first time is a feeling I'll never forget.

I don't have any friends that care about this game even in the slightest to talk to about this so I'm just making a post about it.
When I started the game a few days ago brittle hollow was the first planet I explored, and I went there a few times till I felt like I did everything I could. But one thing kept bugging me, the black hole station at the top that I couldn't seem to get to. But I gave up and moved on.
Now a few runs ago I explored the ash twin and the towers didn't seem to have any use. Now I finally explored the research center thing on the ember twin and saw the warp cores, and that talked about the towers and how they warp to different planets (the sun isn't a planet).
So I went back to the ash twin into the towers and realized its the same as the white hole station, so in theory it should eventually align and warp me to the planet it represents.
After a bit of waiting in 1 tower I gave up and decided to leave. And literally as I was about to leave the platform I guess it finally lined up and warped me to brittle hollow, the exact location I wanted to get to at the very start of the game. (I immediately fell so I didn't get to explore it, but Im gonna go back to brittle hollow to but the station up and then go back to ash twin to warp there)
Until now I didn't really see the appeal of the game. Like its very well made and the lore is really cool, but I didn't see what makes it such a highly acclaimed game. But that experience just now of realizing and connecting the things I've seen HOURS ago and finally understanding what they are is so cool.

I am trying to get to the core of Giant's Deep, but can't get a jellyfish corpse for electricity insulation. I tried the "dark bramble" island, used the campfire for a full cycle, the ship thrusters, the suit thrusters, hell I even blew up my reactor on the ice four times at different angles. I tried to create a counter clockwise tornado from both in and outside the current, as well as seeing if I can guide the existing one. Crashing the ship into the ice did nothing, but I didn't expect it to anyway. I tried to get in with the jellyfish as they went down, both with and without the ship. I tried transporting the other corpses to Giant's Deep, but it obviously did nothing.
I have been trying for the past four hours to do this, but haven't achieved anything aside from a headache.
This is the last thing I have incomplete, aside from the vessel code.
Please help direct me into the right direction.
P.S. I swear it is either a completely different idea from the one I was trying, or obvious to the point where I'll want to laugh at my idiocy.

I recently played the game and had a good, albeit frustrating time. Sometimes it was a love/hate relationship, but ultimately a very cool mystery to explore.
I dunno if I need to hide everything behind spoiler tags, but here goes:
What is required for an object to be considered "whole" such that it will move via the quantum movement behavior but not split into parts? The shrine on the quantum moon moves around. And the Nomai built this shrine. So, as they were building it, I would guess that at least one Nomai had to observe all building materials at all times, otherwise they could potentially move around. How annoying that would be. As the shrine was being assembled, were its constituent parts subject to being disassembled by quantum movements? It sounds like a logistical nightmare, honestly. After it was finished, something keeps it as a singular piece that all moves as one object when not observed. Is the eye all knowing and in charge, and works all that shit out?
If you put the ship of Theseus on the quantum moon, does it stay together?

this game helped me integrate grief within my life and reconcile the (beautiful) uncertainty of life.
over the last couple years i’ve gotten into mountain biking. i’ve recently been making modifications to my bike components. many folks customize the “top cap” with a quote. i wanted something i could glance at when i’m tired or need courage to ride a feature.
so with that…

This is a continuation of the first post I made about a week back. Please no DLC spoilers unless tagged!
I no longer believe that the "Strangers" went blind after the Eye ordeal, but they do change their eye color based on what they're looking at. Black is for when they need to absorb as much light as possible, white is for when they are using mostly visible light.
I just fucking KNEW there were gonna be invisible bridges in this DLC.
I have only had one horror encounter with a Stranger, but I'm assuming they can see like you do when you aren't holding the Artifact. This would mean they would still easily see you with your light concealed or setting it down somewhere else. I'm guessing they have sensitive eyes and I can blind them with my glorified flashlight.
I feel fairly confident that the "dark version" is a dream state induced by the green flame. The Strangers were homesick, had no way back because their ship broke, and made an illusion of home to comfort them in their eternal sleep. However, real time still passes, which is why the ATP still works. This means there shouldn't be Strangers in the dream state, because they should all be dead, except for maybe the one that broke out of the harness. But I think there's more than one. (I've only found one, but it wouldn't make sense if there was only one dude and one horror section in the DLC.) This leads me to believe that there is a secret 5th green fire somewhere (the 3 towers plus the underwater tower plus one more), as there are also five murals in the tower things. Each mural represents one fire, and at the fifth fire there are some Strangers that are still alive, and hunt you down in the dream version.
It is veeeery interesting and veeeery suspicious that in the slide reel about the Artifact the Strangers are NOT strapped down while they sleep, but ARE strapped down now, and are dead. Is there an evil/rebellious group of Strangers? Are they still alive at the theorized 5th fire? And what happened to the Stranger that broke out? Time will tell!
Edit: Another (lamer but more plausible) theory is that the Strangers eventually decided to sleep for the rest of their lifespan due to lack of purpose in the new solar system, and then when their bodies died their concious kind of got stuck in the dream state and they became shells of themselves. Kind of like Solanum, they are no longer truly alive. They strapped themselves down in the event of loss of power to the centrifuge.
Edit #2: I noticed that you can't see your own body while in "night vision" mode while not holding the artifact. Don't really know what to make of that yet. Maybe I am supposed to just set down the Artifact to sneak past Strangers. That'd be lamer than blinding them with the flashlight tho lol

Here's everything I've explored, it's in french but like you can still see I think. I've been spoiled by accident so I know there is something at one moment on the center of the universe, but no idea if it's something I should do now.
Right now my main idea would be to go back inside the big weird thing in the water and use the lantern and try to find something but there is no place on my computer that told my I haven't found something yet.
I would like to have has little help as possible but I know it can be hard so dw

Im about 13h into the game right now and don't know where to go anymore.
The only things I can think of to is going to the sun station (which is probably my next move if I had to guess) and going to the quantum moon.
I've heard that theres a safe way to the sun station on ash twin, and I assume they mean the 5 towers where one of them goes to the sun, but thats the only one I can't use because the only way to the teleporter is blocked by cacti in a doorway and I can't see any way past them.
And I've seen the quantum moon a few times and just went straight through it, so no clue what I gotta do there.
If the sun station really is my next move then can you guys give me a hint? Cuz I'm lost. No way in hell am I landing on that, but I also cant get into the tower.
Also, I love how helpful this sub is, even having 3 different tags just for the base game and just for the dlc for what kinda help you want. Its so neat.
Edit: Cause I'm thinking about it right now, people are suggesting i start the dlc just before beating the game. So without spoiling anything, how close am I just about? Can I buy and play the dlc soon? Cuz I feel like I'm kinda close to done but idk
r/outerwilds • u/Pantycrustlicker • 4h ago
Just started the game and learned to pilot the ship. Decided to take off and chase that blue projectile looking thing that you see when you wake up. I chased it down and it just looks like a satellite or telescope and I didn't see any way to interact with it. Wondering what that is but don't want any spoilers.
Also it seems after about 20 minutes I will lose control and restart the day. I landed on the bramble and was exploring it then noticed my ship being sucked or taken away and my day ended before I could get back to it. Another time I lost control in my suit and flew right off the bramble though I felt like the gravity and my own control jets should have gotten me back to the surface. Another time a crash during a pretty stable landing attempt. It's like I lose control.
So is it that you lose control when the day hits a certain time or is my day ending because I get careless? I don't understand that mechanic yet
r/outerwilds • u/Pancwake_UwU • 15h ago
I've read a few posts about this but can't really find a definitive answer.
I'm about halfway through the game (according to my playtime anyway, which is 10h), and I just learned that the game has dlc.
I've seen that the dlc is integrated into the main game, but also that its seperated from the main game. So I assume its one or a few new planets added to the base game which have their own disconnected story.
Now I see a lot of people saying that you can both play it seperately, or play it with your main playthrough. But since Im already halfway through, I feel like its better if I wait to beat the game, and then buy the dlc, as to not disrupt my current experience with suddenly new planets.
Would that be the best way to go about it? Can I just reload my save if I beat the game and do the new content?

I don't have any more "more to explore" marks yet.

I've loved every second of this game so far and havent felt aimless or lost for a moment right until now.
I feel I have all the pieces yet have no idea what to do with them. Ive been to the sixth location and spoken to solanus, ive found all the parts of the orbital probe cannon and found the coordinates for the eye and ive found everything (i think) there is to know about the ash twin project except I dont know how to get inside. Thats my only lead, and I have no ideas left. I know theres a warp core inside but dont know where the tower connecting to it is.
I admit that I got sidetracked in the dlc without realising it was the dlc and expected it to link back up to what I was doing which I dont think is the case.
Ive done everything so far without looking anything up and this is incredibly annoying I have to ask for help but Ive got nothing left
