Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! SPOILER WARNING: I need a nudge in the right direction Spoiler

Contains spoilers:

This is what I have so far. I’m stuck and don’t know where to go next. I figured out how to get to the sixth location via the shrine on quantum moon, but I’m stuck inside. I need the smallest most faint hint. I accidentally got spoiled from a YouTube video while trying to figure out what to do inside the vessel, that I need a warp core. And I’m assuming that’s in the core of the Ash twin project, but I never figured out how to get there.

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Should I join my boyfriend while he plays?

I'm not sure if this is the right tag, but it seemed the most appropriate.

Some very important context:

I found out about this game through a YouTube video that discussed it in depth and in detail. I was in a place in my life where I didn't think I'd ever be able to play it myself (personal stuff) so I didn't care that I was spoiling everything.

Now, many years later, I kinda regret my attitude at the time. I'll never have the same experience that someone would when going in blind, but I have since gained an incredible boyfriend and a stable job, so I bought it for him as a birthday gift.

We game together pretty often. It's a long-distance thing, so we get on discord and stream for eachother and talk about the game or life or just whatever really.

He wants me to join him while he plays, and I want that too, but I feel like having someone there while he plays is going to ruin the experience.

I'd like some advice from people who have played it. Would you like to have someone along for the ride if you could replay it fresh? Would it ruin the vibe and the quiet moments?

Edit: thanks for the feedback, guys

Just to clarify, I'm not really asking about spoiling or backseat gaming. We're both pretty good with not doing that to eachother. My concern is more about whether the experience is one that's better had alone and if having company at all changes how it would feel for him to play.

The answer seems to be no, and that I should join him, which makes me excited xD looking forward to experiencing it vicariously through someone else again.

DLC Help - NO Spoilers Please! Don't know what to do next Spoiler

Post image

Hi all, I've finished the main game and recently got the DLC, but between the possible scares and new mechanics I think I'm at a bit of a plateau here. Even if I'm finding new things, it's not adding itself to the ship log, so ig it's not important??

Any hints appreciated, I don't know what to do next.

Also the lack of ambient music on the stranger is so eerie.

You're an exemplary community r/outerwilds, your patience and dedication to explorers is truly aspirational. But I can't go on reading through another post that reminds me of what I can no longer have. I leave you with the hope that by not being reminded of this game's brilliance I will eventually forget enough that I can return and enjoy this again ::')

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Just wanna talk about my experience I had rn for a bit. Spoiler

I don't have any friends that care about this game even in the slightest to talk to about this so I'm just making a post about it.

When I started the game a few days ago brittle hollow was the first planet I explored, and I went there a few times till I felt like I did everything I could. But one thing kept bugging me, the black hole station at the top that I couldn't seem to get to. But I gave up and moved on.

Now a few runs ago I explored the ash twin and the towers didn't seem to have any use. Now I finally explored the research center thing on the ember twin and saw the warp cores, and that talked about the towers and how they warp to different planets (the sun isn't a planet).

So I went back to the ash twin into the towers and realized its the same as the white hole station, so in theory it should eventually align and warp me to the planet it represents.

After a bit of waiting in 1 tower I gave up and decided to leave. And literally as I was about to leave the platform I guess it finally lined up and warped me to brittle hollow, the exact location I wanted to get to at the very start of the game. (I immediately fell so I didn't get to explore it, but Im gonna go back to brittle hollow to but the station up and then go back to ash twin to warp there)

Until now I didn't really see the appeal of the game. Like its very well made and the lore is really cool, but I didn't see what makes it such a highly acclaimed game. But that experience just now of realizing and connecting the things I've seen HOURS ago and finally understanding what they are is so cool.

Humor - Base Spoilers Happy Poke Day! Spoiler

Today, 1st September, is Poke day! To celebrate the best Nomai, Poke! I wish you all a happy Poke day as we remember all of her amazing triumphs in creating the warp core, and her investigative genius in noticing the time dilation during warps, and her incredible courage that even when faced with the Interloper, her thoughts were on how she could try to at least warn her clan. Happy Poke day once more!

DLC Appreciation/Discussion DLC question

I've read a few posts about this but can't really find a definitive answer.

I'm about halfway through the game (according to my playtime anyway, which is 10h), and I just learned that the game has dlc.

I've seen that the dlc is integrated into the main game, but also that its seperated from the main game. So I assume its one or a few new planets added to the base game which have their own disconnected story.

Now I see a lot of people saying that you can both play it seperately, or play it with your main playthrough. But since Im already halfway through, I feel like its better if I wait to beat the game, and then buy the dlc, as to not disrupt my current experience with suddenly new planets.

Would that be the best way to go about it? Can I just reload my save if I beat the game and do the new content?

Base Game Help - Hints Only! Beating the game hint needed Spoiler

Upvotes

This probably contains the most spoilerest of spoilers.

What to actually do at the Vessel to beat the game.

I have gone everywhere, there isn't a node left. Even got the feldspar records on bramble islands. Even gotten the Museum achievement.

I figured that you have to go to the Ash twin project, take the core (which ends the loop, making death an actual thing now), bring it put the ship to replace to broken core. And I have died a few times for real.

I have gotten to the core of the Giant's deep, found the coordinates.

I just have no the faintest idea what to do with the input table, or what bringing the core is actually supposed to do. I had hoped that I would bring me one last piece.

I even looked a video of someone beating the game and then pausing right at the point, where they are at the input table, where I don't know what I am supposed to do. They do the same things as me. There isn't anywhere left to explore. I'm 99.9% sure I have found everything. There just isn't a solution for the input table.

Edit: I got it now. The computer had them recorded, but in the picture not the text. I don't think I have looked much at any of the pictures at all until now.

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Play with DLC initially, or wait? Spoiler

Upvotes

Major Spoilers for Main Game and DLC Ahead.

Finally got my girlfriend to agree to play this beautiful game, but before I get her started I got to thinking about whether she should play with the DLC (at first) or not.

I played this game and absolutely adored it. It changed my life. I played the main game first, then after completing it fully I downloaded the DLC and loved it too.

Now that my girlfriend is playing it, I am not sure if I should leave EotE installed, or if I should make her discover the rest of the world first.

Spoilers ahead!!!

I remember feeling such weight and significance when the Prisoner shared visions with the protagonist, and when we share back with the Prisoner. Since the scene is changed when you don't know about the Interloper's ghost matter, and about the nomai in general, I'm worried that if she explored the Stranger before learning about the rest of the world that the DLC's meaning could be slightly lost.

Then again, it would be meaningful for her to have met the Prisoner and then see them again in the Ancient Glade on her fist go round, though that's certainly not a deal breaker as it still had meaning to me when I did it the second time.

While ultimately, I know it's not the biggest deal, I just thought I'd pop in here and ask for y'all's thoughts and express my love for this work of art video game.

Base Game Help - Hints Only! No idea what to do now Spoiler

Im about 13h into the game right now and don't know where to go anymore.

The only things I can think of to is going to the sun station (which is probably my next move if I had to guess) and going to the quantum moon.

I've heard that theres a safe way to the sun station on ash twin, and I assume they mean the 5 towers where one of them goes to the sun, but thats the only one I can't use because the only way to the teleporter is blocked by cacti in a doorway and I can't see any way past them.

And I've seen the quantum moon a few times and just went straight through it, so no clue what I gotta do there.

If the sun station really is my next move then can you guys give me a hint? Cuz I'm lost. No way in hell am I landing on that, but I also cant get into the tower.

Also, I love how helpful this sub is, even having 3 different tags just for the base game and just for the dlc for what kinda help you want. Its so neat.

Edit: Cause I'm thinking about it right now, people are suggesting i start the dlc just before beating the game. So without spoiling anything, how close am I just about? Can I buy and play the dlc soon? Cuz I feel like I'm kinda close to done but idk

this game helped me integrate grief within my life and reconcile the (beautiful) uncertainty of life.

over the last couple years i’ve gotten into mountain biking. i’ve recently been making modifications to my bike components. many folks customize the “top cap” with a quote. i wanted something i could glance at when i’m tired or need courage to ride a feature.

so with that…

Base Game Help - Hints Only! I need your help please Spoiler

I've loved every second of this game so far and havent felt aimless or lost for a moment right until now.

I feel I have all the pieces yet have no idea what to do with them. Ive been to the sixth location and spoken to solanus, ive found all the parts of the orbital probe cannon and found the coordinates for the eye and ive found everything (i think) there is to know about the ash twin project except I dont know how to get inside. Thats my only lead, and I have no ideas left. I know theres a warp core inside but dont know where the tower connecting to it is.

I admit that I got sidetracked in the dlc without realising it was the dlc and expected it to link back up to what I was doing which I dont think is the case.

Ive done everything so far without looking anything up and this is incredibly annoying I have to ask for help but Ive got nothing left
