Before trying anything: talk with your doctor 🫂 There might be many reasons why your hair is falling:

  • stress
  • nutritional deficiency
  • hormones

And more!

The way your hair is falling (more on the top? All over your head?) can say something about what's going on; but only blood test and expert diagnosis will give you a clearer picture.

Since you noticed it started after starting bc: are you/your doctor sure it's not an androgenic birth control pill?

It's actually anti androgenic pill

Then this is one more reason to look into why your hair is falling: anti-androgenic pills make hair look better, not worse. So it might be the cause is not hormonal: ask your doctor to get checked for nutritional deficiencies (iron, vitamin D etc). If about 3 months ago you had a very stressful period, that might also be it. If during the summer you've been a lot in the sun without a hat, that might also cause hairloss. But these are just hypothesis - talk with your doctor 🍀

You need to check serum ferritin and serum iron. If they are low, or deficient, you need to supplement. If very low, get an iron infusion. Hair loss is telltale sign of anemia or iron deficiency. Minxodil is only a bandaid, get to the root cause.

That happened to me years ago. I would say try to come off birth control after using it a few months and try to cure yourself naturally. It has helped me with the hair loss. I also use a lot of products and vitamins. I now feel like I have regular hair. If It helps, you can use hair extensions.

I think she needs to discuss birth control with her doctor :/ also, extensions can worsen hairloss because they pull on already weakened strands.

A more delicate cosmetic cover up are toppers or hair fiber. But trying to find out why the hair is falling is first step!

I am taking pills (anti androgenic ones) for pcos so i don't think it's a good idea to just discontinue it

I'm really sorry you're going through this. Having worked in pharmacies what usually helped people and what I've tried myself was: 1. Ducray anaphase reactiv shampoo 2. Skin, hair and nails vitamins by Solgar These are both products that can be easily found throughout Europe, I'm not very sure about other places. Now if this doesn't work maybe you could consider using some minoxidil lotion? I hope this helps!
