SSD Speed and Performance in gaming (PCIE 3.0 is fine)

Tom's Hardware has a review regarding SSD speed and performance in gaming

https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/we-tested-the-impact-of-ssd-speed-on-gaming-performance-in-11-titles-we-analyzed-from-sata-to-pcie-5-0-to-see-whether-upgrading-to-a-faster-nvme-ssd-would-have-an-impact

Confirms our earlier claims that PCIE 3.0 is fine even for gaming, and PCIE 4 and above is mostly useful for truly read/write heavy workloads

Build Flex Finally Pulled The Trigger On a New PC.

Post image

With RAM and SSD prices basically guaranteed to increase. I decided to swallow the bitter pill and built a new PC. Sakit sa kalooban pero since deadz na legion laptop ko no choice. Sharing my build (Oo, pangit ako mag photo)

Total Cost: 85K

CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F

RAM: Lexar DDR5 16 x 2

GPU: RX 9060 XT 16GB XFX Swift Triple Fan

SSD 1: Lexar 1TB Gen 4

SSD 2: Crucial 1TB P3 Plus (My old one)

Mobo: Asus B650 Wifi AYW

PSU: Cooler Master MWE Bronze 750W

Cooler: Darkflash E400

Case: Cooler Master Elite 302

Toy: Skull Knight from a gacha machine

Rant: This build would have cost 60k last year. Hayyy.. also don't buy darkflash cooler, not because di okay ang cooling (in fact, super great temps) but because baliko ng onti and unfixable. Design flaw siya.

Miscellaneous Attempting to RMA GSkill DDR4 kits

I'm in the process of doing an RMA for my G.Skill DDR4 RAM. I initially tried to do an RMA previously back in 2024, however, my plans for that got cancelled since I am basically broke from all the sudden expenses following a recent childbirth and frequent trips to the hospital. And I did not pursue it because the RAM itself is still working, it's just a busted LED. Also, it does take a lot of reinserts to get it to work, but once it's set, it's not giving me any further issues so I no longer pursued it.

During the weekend, I noticed my games kept crashing, then my OS randomly crashes. I have done a reinsert RAM a few times and it normally works, aa long as I thoroughly clean the system. but this time, the stick with the busted LED would not work anymore.

There was a post here earlier that his RMA with Gskill was successful. however, seems I'm having a bit more difficulty given I chose Fedex over DHL since I set up a Fedex account back in 2024 only to not go through with the RMA process... however, whatever discounts I had with the first year is probably gone. However, the rate is P1.9k for economy shipping. I wanted to use credit card because I am low on cash, probably they could do it a bit cheaper than the other redditor's LBC/DHL rates of ₱2.5k but it looks like that might have been a steal if he wasn't required to do all the paperwork.

I also lost the original packaging. Contacted RMA support and they're ok with not having the original box.

I also had difficulties looking for the Fedex station at Pascor Drive. I found an authorized service center, though she notified me that there is some additional paperwork required by customs for a certificate of identification since this is for a repair/return, though I have submitted the package and filled the long list of requirements, however, since this is only for my personal computer, I don't think I should put my employer as my "company". I have one last thing in the morning and I have to find someone to have the affidavit given to me notarized. I need to find someone cheap enough as I am not exactly in a good financial situation and not fleece me just because this looks business-y.

Is there an easier and cheaper way than this? If I do RMA, I'd usually go to Gilmore myself and drop by their depot. Only this time, Taiwan's just too far away. It's probably too late for me but maybe my experience can help someone else take lessons from me.

Also, since I bought it as a kit, I have to return both, even if my other stick is working. I'm completely out of a computer until I get it back. I am also afraid how much Fedex will charge me and I'd probably stay away from creating my own account and just sign up on the spot.

Discussion VERMEER - Ryzen 7 5700X3D

Post image

Im cleaning my stuffs and found my CPU's box. I just realized how krazy the inflation of PC components now. Bought my R7 5700X3D before at P14950 in Datablitz before rammagedon and check its current price in the Market. I also got my 2x16 32gb ddr4 ram at P6kish in gaming alley. Damn the price hike is insane. Happy with my current AM4 build and gonna pass AM5. I'm rockin this beast with my rtx 5060 ti 16gb with 32gb ddr4 ram. How lucky am I to have this kind of build. How bout u? What's your PC build story?

Build Help First time building a PC - advice needed

Upvotes

Hello!

My budget is around 50k for the system unit.

My games are mainly Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, WuWa, and I want to proof it for future games like Nodus Fall. Also some light streaming on Discord.

I don't want a large tower so mATX parts are preferred. No RGB.

The RTX 5060 Shadow 2x OC is 197mm so I want to start with that. The lowest price I saw is 22k.

Other parts:
CPU+Motherboard: Ryzen 5 7500F, B650M Wi-Fi
RAM: 2x16gb
SSD: 1TB NVMe
PSU: MSI MAG A650BN

Any suggestions, such as brands and versions and whatnots, are much appreciated as this is my first time building a PC. I've always used laptops. Thank you in advance!

Build Help Monitor for my Macbook(Clamshell mode)

Upvotes

I am a video editor of 5 years and this is the first time I am investing for a monitor. Can you guys suggest which one is good to buy and for the budget just suggest in any budget range like for affordable, mid range, and top of the line variant.

Also I am still undecided on the screen size, can you recommend what is the best and advisable for video editing?

The monitor should be color accurate, reliable, and has some good reviews by many thank you.

Build Help Is there a way to adapt a 2230 NVME ssd to SATA?

Upvotes

I'm currently trying to migrate my files and games from my old laptop to my gaming rig and with the prices of SSDs right now, I'd prefer if theres a way to adapt the 2230 NVME from my laptop as a SATA drive since I only have one slot for NVME on the pc which is already taken by my boot drive.

Is this possible or worth the hassle just to try and avoid spending for a brand new SATA drive?

Build Help PH Affordable Gaming PC for both Gaming and Streaming!

Hello! I am currently planning on building a PC for both gaming and streaming on twitch and tiktok! My budget would be around 30k - 40k PHP but I would prefer it to be more close on the 30k.. I currently have a PC but it is so outdated its been more than 10 years. I will list down the games I would like to play and stream and also my current pc information so maybe if I could just upgrade it right now then I would.

Games:
League of Legends
Valorant
Elden Ring
Overwatch
Marvel Rivals
Minecraft

My current PC:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8100 CPU @ 3.60GHz (3.60 GHz)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (6 GB)
RAM: 16.0 GB
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Let me know if I need to put other specs and stuff! I heard PCs are a bit expensive now but I would really want to upgrade this or to build a completely new one.

Any thoughts about this shop on gmarket, and is it worth buying based on the current price of the GPU? As far as I know, there’s no local warranty but they have a 60-day free return policy.

My pc is just 3 months old palang and nagloloko na sya ng ganito nawawalan ng bluetooth parati and nawawalan ng internet kahit may internet naman sya. Dinala na namin sa warranty sinabi sa akin need lang daw iupdate ang bios so inupdate nila eh pagkabalik sa bahay ganun parin.

Okay sya eh for 10hrs run tapos after that nagloloko uli sya na. Wala pa naman akong kaalam alam sa computer sadly and first time ko bumili kaya di ko alam ano gagawin ko windows 11 narin sya.

Im very sorry guys wala talaga ako alam pero willing naman ako magpaturo baka may alam kayong pwedeng gawin para mafix toh?
