Discussion Went back to AF after transferring to Befit

For context I live in Makati. I have been with AF since 2020 with a monthly fee of 2200. My home gym is at Eton sa Dela Rosa. When i heard about Befit, I left AF, since mas mura, maluwag yung gym and daming equipment. I only got the basic membership of 999 since sabi ko di naman ako dadayo if ever. But after how many months, I still went back to AF.
Here are my dealbreaker with BF Makati why I went back to AF.
Sobrang daming tao pag peak hours. (Well peak hours nga) but this is mostly the time i have time and free to workout. And sa sobrang daming tao, mas matagal pa yung pag iintay mo sa mga machine and benches kesa sa workout mo. Sometimes i can only do 3-4 types of exercise in 1 hour.

Some gymgoers are insentive. After 1 set, 10 minutes on their phone. May mga time naman na nakakapag alternate ako but mas madami yung gymgoers na walang pakealam kung mag gustong sumunod sa kanya. Busy kaka scroll ng tiktok and reels.

Compared sa AF eton, the restrooms are better in AF. Mas malinis (laging basa yung floor sa BF, although may regular cleaner naman), mas maluwag esp the shower rooms and mas madaling gumalaw.

Interms of gym personnel, wala naman akong masabi sa BF. Mababait naman sila.

Sino din sa inyo dito ang ganito?

Newbie Last PT session - how to make it worth it?

Hi, just wanted to seek an advice. I just started going to the gym and I availed 6 PT sessions. Last session ko na with my PT and honestly di ko ramdam yung value ng binayad ko. Every session, ang nangyayari is ituturo ni coach yung workout, iccorrect yung form, and ise-set up yung equipment if meron.

I learned my lesson. I should've done more research after 3 sessions palang sana.

So now, how do I make it worth it? Anong mga bagay need ko kay coach for our last session?

Weightloss For people living in major cities, san mas sulit bumili ng protein source? Wet market or Grocery/Supermarket?

For those living in major cities, saan niyo usually nakukuha ang best value for money na protein sources: palengke or grocery/supermarket?

Curious ako kung may significant difference talaga in terms of price, protein content, quality, and convenience, especially if you're meal prepping regularly.

In your experience, alin ang mas sulit for the following? For example, chicken breast mas mura ba sa palengke, while ground meat is better/safer to buy from a supermarket?

I'm particularly interested in:

  • Solo meal prep / long-term cost: Which is more practical if you're mostly cooking and meal prepping for yourself?
  • Protein per peso: Which option gives you the best balance of price, protein content, and quality?
  • Convenience: Is the savings from buying at the palengke actually worth the extra effort compared to buying from a grocery?
  1. Chicken breast (skinless, boneless) Mas sulit ba bumili ng whole chicken tapos ako na mag-debone/process kaysa bumili directly ng boneless, skinless breast? How much do you usually save doing this? Any recommended palengke/grocery sources or tips for getting good-quality chicken?

  2. Ground pork / ground beef (lean) May recommended store brands or supermarket branches ba kayo na consistently lean ang ground pork/beef? Mas okay ba bumili ng pre-ground meat, or better to have the meat ground in the supermarket/palengke? For those tracking calories/macros, gaano ka-reliable yung advertised fat percentage?

  3. Fish. Aside from the usual tilapia, ano pang fish ang sulit in terms of protein per peso? Any recommendations for affordable fish that are relatively high in protein and not too fatty? Which ones are easy to find in Metro Manila palengkes or supermarkets? May fish ba na mas sulit kapag frozen kaysa fresh? For meal prep, which fish holds up well after cooking/refrigerating? Interested din ako sa lesser-known/less popular fish na mura pero good protein source.

Would also appreciate actual price comparisons if you have them (e.g., ₱/kg + approximate protein per 100g).

Basically, I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to hit my daily protein target without sacrificing too much quality or convenience.

Discussion Surge Eastwood closing - beginning of the end?

Saw on a facebook post that Surge Eastwood will be closing by end of September. Also other branches din isusunod na nila.

Newbie Return to the gym after 7 years

so i use to be a gym nut, and i've reached a lot of goals in terms of fitness back in the day, but then i became a parent and i lost the time to hit the gym.

not to mention my wife can cook, i gained a lot of fat.

i feel so weak nowadays, i run out of breath quite quickly.

im a comic book artist so my job dosent really require a lot of physical movment or at all.

i spend most of my days in my study.

but recently, my son is now 5 and started school a few months ago.

and i find myself with extra time now that im not doing anything.

so i want to go back to the gym agin.

BUT!

no.1 i dont know what i should do, what exercises should i do in the gym for someone like me, i feel so weak i can barley lift heavy things.

im thinking of not lifting yet maybe spend a month on just building my stamina ala running biking?

but im hoping to get pro advice?

with dieting im pretty good with this, i use to count my calroies back in the day.

I work out at home and am looking for a cheap fitness couch. I looked on Amazon and saw a few models. Nicepeople and Yoleo are in my price range. They are pretty similar in size but differ in the maximum weight each can hold. Which is better? Which one should I buy out of the two?

I remember those days where rule 1 only cost 2500 and 5lbs na siya. Used to be a hardcore gym guy 6x a week wayback in 2021-2023.

Went back to gym and checked the whey protein prices parang mag whole foods nalang ako 😪

Magandang gabi ho. Any experience here of building their gym programs using AI? Gusto ko lang po malaman insight niyo if that's an advisable thing or something we need to avoid. I tried Google Gemini's assistance with research so I now have my back + biceps program, as well as legs. Thoughts? Yay or nay? Thank you.

Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Program Check Format Guide - READ BEFORE COMMENTING

FORMAT GUIDE

BEFORE YOU COMMENT or SUBMIT: READ THIS FIRST

Most "rate my program", "pacheck po ng program", "tama ba program ko" posts are either ignored or tend to waste everyone's time. Why? Most posts don't have enough relevant, commentable information and are missing key data to make any kind of useful feedback possible. This results in low-quality answers, dismissive responses, or one-word replies that don't benefit anyone.

Without proper context, well-meaning commenters are forced to either:

  • Ask 5-10 clarifying questions before they can even begin to help (wasting everyone's time)
  • Make broad assumptions about your goals, experience level, and recovery capacity (leading to advice that may not apply to you)
  • Give generic cookie-cutter responses like "just do PPL bro" or "seems fine" (which tells you nothing useful)
  • Ignore your post entirely because it's too much work to extract the information needed

The frustrating cycle looks like this:

  • Post: "Okay ba ito?"
  • Usual Questions: Okay for what? Anong goals mo? Ginagawa mo na ba to? How long ka na nag-ttrain?
  • Commenter: *asks more clarifying questions*
  • Poster: *gives vague answers*
  • Commenter: *gives up and moves on*

Meanwhile, the original poster gets frustrated because "no one is helping," and commenters get frustrated because "why should I put in more effort than the person asking for help?"

Many redditors also present their programs in formats that aren't easy to understand: images, screenshots, or walls of text that commenters need to spend too much time deciphering on mobile or desktop.

This thread exists to help you get actual, useful feedback on your training program that you can use to adjust your program. When you provide complete information upfront using the required format, you get:

  • Specific, actionable feedback tailored to YOUR situation
  • Multiple perspectives from experienced lifters who can actually evaluate your program
  • Answers that address your actual concerns, not generic advice
  • Follow-up discussions that help you understand the "why" behind the recommendations If you need honest and objective feedback, this is the place.

Expect follow-up and clarifying questions so you can get good feedback. If you don't give enough information, you will not get anything from this.

If you just want validation or generic advice, you can post that elsewhere. We're trying to make this a stricter and more useful space for those who wish to learn.

Reminder: You do not have to use this space to check your program. Many other places exist. No one is forcing you to submit a post here. All future posts regarding checking a program will be filtered out and will get a link redirecting to the monthly megathread.

Please also make sure to read our first Phitness document:

Training Standards for general hypertrophy V2.4 Phitness

I) A Reality Check for Novices

As a novice, some parts of your program probably don’t matter as much as you think it does.

If you're a novice (less than 12 months of consistent training), you're almost certainly overthinking this. You're better off spending time in the gym rather than scrolling endlessly on social media watching random influencers trying to min-max your program.

Most beginner programs work if you actually follow them. Effort, consistency, and recovery matter more than exercise selection. Optimization will happen after you've mastered the basics. For many novices, learning how to lift is more important than optimizing your program.

That said:

  • Some programs are genuinely bad
  • Some have glaring gaps
  • Some are built on outdated bro-science or outright misinformation
  • This thread will help us figure out what you can do to either tweak your program or overhaul it completely.

II. REQUIRED INFORMATION FORMAT

Copy and paste this template. Fill in every section. Don't skip anything.

TRAINING BACKGROUND:

Current training days per week:

(realistic dapat—hindi yung plano lang, yung kahit pagod at busy sa work ito talaga magagawa mo):

Current Weight(KG):

PRIMARY GOALS:

List in order of priority the muscle groups you want to focus on for the next 8–12 weeks. This will naturally change over time. Be specific with your choices: avoid broad categories like "legs" or "upper body."

Examples of muscle groups include: chest, quads, glutes, hamstrings, scaps, traps, lats, biceps, triceps, rear delts, middle delts, and front delts.

Primary:

Primary Muscle Group 1

Primary Muscle Group 2

Primary Muscle Group 3

Primary Muscle Group 4

Secondary:

Secondary Muscle Group 1

Secondary Muscle Group 2

Secondary Muscle Group 3

Instead of listing too many secondary or low-priority muscle groups, please be realistic and mainly focus on the muscle groups you truly want to grow.

CURRENT PROGRAM BY MUSCLE GROUP:

[List each of your primary muscle group goals, then your exercises underneath]

Format:

MUSCLE GROUP: [Total weekly sets]

- Exercise name: Sets x Rep range, Rest time, RPE

- Exercise name: Sets x Rep range, Rest time, RPE

- Bench Press: 3 x 4-6 reps, 3min rest, RPE 8

- Machine Press: 3 x 8-12 reps X 2min rest, RPE 8

- Incline DB Press: 3 x 8-12 reps x 2min rest, RPE 8

- Cable Fly: 3 x 12-15 reps X 2min rest, RPE 8

[Continue for all primary muscle groups goals...]

PROGRESSION: linear progression, double progression, wave loading?

RECOVERY:

Average sleep per night:

Current caloric intake for the last two weeks:

Average weight for the last two weeks:

Protein intake (grams per day or per kg bodyweight):

What are your specific questions:

-----------------copy paste everything above this remove the items in italic -----------------

HOW TO POST FOR BEST FEEDBACK

Good Post Example:

TRAINING BACKGROUND: 1.5 years consistent training, currently 3x (Upper, Lower + Full Body)

Current Weight: 74kg

GOALS:

Primary: Chest, Quads, Glutes, Lats

Secondary: Triceps, Bicep, Side Delts

CURRENT PROGRAM:

Chest: 15 sets a week

Bench Press - 4 x 4-6, 3min rest, RPE 8

Incline DB Press - 4 x 8-12, 2min rest, RPE 8

Flys - 4 x 10-15, 2min rest, RPE 7-8

Machine Chest press - 3 x 6-10, 3min rest, RPE 8

[...continues with full detail...]

PROGRESSION: Double progression

RECOVERY: 7-8hrs sleep, 2300 cal intake (slight surplus ~200kcal), 170g protein daily

SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:

Is this enough sets for chest development?

Can I swap out bench press for something else since it bothers my shoulders?

Should I add another chest exercise for upper pec development?

Bad Post Example:

"Rate my program:

Monday - chest

Tuesday - back

Wednesday - legs

Thursday - shoulders

Friday - arms

Am I gonna make gains?"

REALITY CHECK

Before you post your program, ask yourself:

Have I actually followed this program for at least 4-6 weeks?

If no, follow it first. You can't evaluate a program you haven't run.

Am I tracking my workouts and seeing if I'm actually progressing?

If no, start tracking. Without data, you're guessing.

A harsh truth:

You don't need the "perfect" program

You need a good-enough program that you'll actually follow

Consistency over 6-12 months matters more than optimization

If you're constantly changing programs, THAT is your problem

The hopeful truth:

Most programs work if you work

Progressive overload + adequate volume + consistency = results

Your effort and recovery matter more than your program

You can always adjust as you learn and progress

May your gains be plentiful and your form be pristine.

Discussion Need advice for home workout

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! Male, 26, 5'10 and I'm fairly new to fitness, started early this august at around 93-95kg, now sitting comfortably at 86-88kg. Current goal for cal def is ~1500 since I started this August. Nung una weight loss lang talaga target ko with a bit of strength training pero I wanted to build a habit for long term goals. I need advice kung tama ba tong ginagawa ko hahaha attached a brief summary of my new routine. Well same lang naman siya sa routine ko when I started, pero I tweaked the weights and reps after some research. Also trying to add lateral raises in my upper body sessions. Btw, this is pure home workout 🥹 using adjustable dumbbells that can be converted to a barbell using connecting rods, total weight is 30kg.

Also, most of my diet consists of chicken breast, eggs, ground beef, oats, and tofu. Main source of carbs is mostly white rice and whole wheat breads. Recently incorporated protein powder na din to hit my daily protein intake. Some days I'm inconsistent pero I'm slowly building a habit!

Thanks!

Lifting/Training Is it too late for me to start to train boxing at 26?

Hi! I’m 26M from Cavite. Mahilig manood ng boxing ang family ko, and my uncle (father’s side) was actually a former boxer at Elorde.

I run twice/once a week consistently, usually 10–25 km per run, with a pace of around 5:00–5:50/km, and I also do home workouts.

Hindi pa ba huli ang lahat para magsimula ako sa edad na 26? Possible pa kaya akong makapag-compete someday kung may potential ako?

Would love to hear from people who started boxing at a similar age or have experience in the sport. Any advice is appreciated!

Lifting/Training Where to get sandbags?

Where can i buy those fillable sandbags for training? I bought a 50lb one but nothing higher from the same brand. The fillable ones in shopee have some negative reviews on its quality. There are some brands that are highly rated but are from the US like freedom strength and rep fitness but can't seem to find them here.

Discussion How to get back on track

I 35F, 5’6 in height, started lifting/working out November 2024 and stopped March 2026 because I moved from Cavite to Makati for work.

For context, I started from 105kgs down to 80 kgs by February 2026.

Now, I’m around 85kgs but I’m committed to get back on track.

The split I was doing before was upper or lower body days and inclined walking for at least an 1 hour.

Kindly give me tips on what to expect for someone who stopped for 6 months already.

Thanks in advance 💗

Thank you po!

Tips rin pala and anong meals, maintenance ko is 2,481cal sabi ng calorie intake calc, pero cutting ako, so, 1981cal kinakain ko ngayon. Any meals na budget meal lang for college student around 1,000₱-1,500₱ per week, thank you!

Nutrition Protein short by 50%? Is that acceptable po ba?

Thumbnail
gallery

NUMMEALS macros sense check. Anyone else checked theirs?
Weighed two Nummeals meals against their labels. Protein is overstated by ~50%.
I track macros with a food scale, so I broke down two meals from Nummeals “1200 Balanced Meal Prep” (8/31 delivery) and estimated macros from the actual component weights.
FISH & TOFU TAUSI
Label: 398 kcal / 33P / 34C / 10F
Weighed: ~350 kcal / ~17P / ~32C / ~15F
In the pack: 84g rice, 60g fried fish (batter included), 33g tofu
KUNG PAO CHICKEN
Label: 428 kcal / 31P / 40C / 16F
Weighed: ~275 kcal / ~14P / ~33C / ~10F
In the pack: 111g brown rice (sauce-coated), 40g chicken, 26g bok choy
Carbs and fat land within a reasonable +/- ~20% margin, but the protein claims aren’t physically possible from those portions. 40g of cooked chicken is ~11g protein, not 31. You’d need roughly 110g of chicken or 130-150g of fish to hit the label.
Two meals is a small sample, so I’d be curious if anyone else has weighed theirs.
How can I improve my checking?
Any thoughts on what other meal plan providers or restaurants are reliable with macros?

Newbie Need advice! What's your workout routine for glute and thigh growth? (Beginner - Female)

I’m new to fitness/gym workouts and looking for some advice from people who have successfully built up their lower body. My main goal right now is to grow my glutes and build fuller thighs/hips.

Since I’m just starting out, I’d love to know:

  1. What exercises made the biggest difference for your glutes and thighs?

  2. How many times a week do you train lower body?

  3. Any tips for a complete beginner to make sure i'm targeting the right muscles (especially glutes) instead of just tiring my legs out?

Any workout splits, exercise suggestions, or beginner tips would be super appreciated.

Would you like to add whether you're working out at home with dumbbells/bands or going to a full gym setup?

TYIA! :)

How does it work, and how do you know if you’re actually doing a body recomp? Kasi alam ko lang bulking and cutting 😅

29F 47.5kg. I'm okay with my weight na but my goal is higher muscle mass and lower fat percentage.

Discussion Protein Shake: Before or After Workout?

Hi, this is a genuine question because I've seen a lot of people take their protein shake before their workout. Does it have a difference ba if before iinumin ang protein shake? Or does that depend sa goal mo?

Thank you for answering in advanced po!

Any members or class pass users? Whats your usual routine given the limited machines available in the hotel gym? I do believe though machines and dumbbells racks and smiths machine were definitely enough but sometimes the routine can be boring hehe
