No, it wasn't. She did an interview after her most recent album came out saying that Paramore would always be a band and they would definitely do something again in the future, but she basically sees them regularly taking breaks to do solo stuff in between from now on.Â

It would be funny if people stopped assuming the worst. I love this band to death but I'm ready to accept the fact they may be done for the time being regardless of all the things that happened. We got really stellar music but only two albums since Self-Titled is a sign they may need to take a sabbatical and come back fully recuperated. I also feel like Hayley has been fighting being a solo artist and the lead singer of a band for so long that I think it's for the best if they pull a No Doubt and drop a random album when they feel like its time to do so.

I fear for Paramoreâs future after this

247
u/alanthickerthanwater 1d ago
I think the actual moment of worrying for Paramore's future happened sometime in the past year. I think this statement is one-hundred percent an answer about what she's doing right now.
36
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Definitely, all that we know regarding the relationship dynamics from the past year and the content of her new material points to things not being very good for Paramore right now or in the near future. I know that sheâs obvs focused on her solo music right now but we know what the content of that music is!
12
u/alanthickerthanwater 1d ago
We think we know (and tbh we are probably right about at least 50% of it).

u/MultiMidden 20h ago
Zac is getting married, might be looking to start a family (even though he's the baby of the band he's 36 already), has his side projects as well.
-2
u/foxglovespell 19h ago
Whoâs saying Zac doesnât have any side projects?⌠he always has. Like, why do people keep commenting such irrelevant stuff that havenât spoken about whatsoever đ weâre talking about how the current state of the band is fragmented. Nothing about whatever theyâre doing privately/on the side.
5
132
u/Troyabedinthemornin 1d ago
I doubt this is her saying anything about Paramoreâs future, but rather her present. Imagine being an artist trying to focus on the new chapter of your career and your current creative endeavor, and dudes like that commenter keep wanting to bring the conversation back to the band youâve been doing since you were a teenager. I too would be firm about what I want to be the focus
20
u/Karl-Marx666 1d ago
Thats the nail on head right there. When a musician in a band sees their solo project or new band as the liberation they need and the other project as constricting, why go back? Its how mychem ended, if the band feels like chains holding back your vision, there is no reason to go back to that outlet.
18
u/Troyabedinthemornin 1d ago
And then look what happened with them, theyâve come back refreshed and putting on great shows and may still put out new music. Paramoreâs run was about 20 years, an accomplishment few band can claim, and we are still getting music from Hayley so I donât understand what people are in a tizzy over
18
u/Karl-Marx666 1d ago
Youâre absolutely right. Thereâs no telling what the future might hold. I thought Oasis would never come back, but despite all odds it happened. For right now Paramore is âoffâ but not gone.
-9
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
So in your eyes, people have no right to be sad over Paramore potentially ceasing to exist anymore 𤣠okay, got it
9
u/Troyabedinthemornin 1d ago
You said you didnât want to argue with me and yet here you areâŚ
Have I said you canât be sad? No. I just donât personally understand why thereâs all the drama around a band thatâs old enough to be in college potentially going on hiatus, especially when the main and most consistent creative force behind that band is still making music
-7
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Because youâre under MY COMMENT?!? Youâre here hounding me not the other way around lmao
And youâre literally contradicting yourself in the same breath by saying youâre not saying we canât be sad but that you also donât understand why people are sad⌠like? đ and keep making statements about how Paramore has had a good run and now we need to move on and get over it. Everything youâre saying is extremely dismissive of the other members of the band and ridiculing of anyone who still appreciates them.
2
u/Troyabedinthemornin 1d ago
Did you know saying people are allowed to feel a way and that I donât personally understand feeling that way are not contradictory statements? Like I can say I donât understand liking black licorice and that doesnât mean I think no one should like it. Iâve focused my comments on Hayley because sheâs the only person who has been a constant member of the band, and obviously as the front woman plays an incredibly pivotal role in Paramoreâs music. Also, no where have I said people need to âmove on and get over itâ I havenât even stated that the band is over, rather that if this is all we got than thatâs still pretty great. I even compared them to MCR, a band that came back after an extensive hiatus with renewed energy and playing some of their biggest and best shows so idk where all of this negativity you are interpreting comes from.
1
u/foxglovespell 19h ago
As I, and several others, have pointed out here, youâve been very argumentative and hostile. Doing nothing but making assumptions, repeatedly stating that you donât understand why people are concerned about the current state of the band, have told people in a round about way they need to just accept the end and move on, that Hayleyâs solo music is the same as Paramore as sheâs the main creative force behind the band (wrong in so many ways), then backpedal when youâve been called out on it. Youâre a top 1% commenter just because you harass people lmao. Looking at your profile you literally spend all day arguing with people on here. I wonât be engaging with you any more, bye!
1
u/FairLeadership3012 22h ago
Are you saying you can't be sad about something without messaging the artist in question that you're sad about their choices?
1
u/foxglovespell 19h ago
How on earth did you come to that conclusion? Yall are weird as fuck
1
u/FairLeadership3012 19h ago
Kinda like how you reached the conclusion that someone didn't think people had a right to be sad just because they said "I don't understand what people are in a tizzy over"?
1
u/foxglovespell 18h ago
Yes, well done for starting the obvious! That user has repeatedly mocked people for being concerned about the state of the band. If you look at all the other comments here multiple people have said the same thing about them being argumentative and dismissive. Youâve even just said in another comment that changing members of the band wouldnât make a difference as you donât care about them, so that sums it all up perfectly well! Be gone, troll
5
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
I agree I donât think sheâd be explicitly saying anything regarding Paramoreâs future in an Instagram comment, but just in general with the state of the band atm and the content of her new material I do worry about the future of Paramore
17
u/Troyabedinthemornin 1d ago
The nice thing is, we got six fantastic albums and Hayley is still putting out music that speaks to her creatively. Paramoreâs sound has changed a lot over the years, with different collaborators, so I feel like her solo stuff is a âby any other name a rose would smell as sweetâ kind of scenario
-5
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Hmm well some of us still love Paramore and would love to see them do more music in the future. Her solo music is great but very different.
9
u/peculiar_ladybug 1d ago
youâre calling everyone argumentative but youâre the one that just canât accept that 3 ppl in their late 30s want to do something other than what theyâve done since they were teenagers. they arenât robots. they have feelings and theyâre allowed to take a break for however long they want. if you canât see that for what it is you need to just assume they will never come back and get over it now. itâs not something you will ever be able to change because you are only a fan. you are not entitled to them making more music for you to consume.
-6
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
You seem to be mistaken. I called ONE PERSON argumentative. Idk why youâre going off, they always take years long breaks in between albums and that wasnât the point of my comment? Taking a look at your comments you seem to fight a lot of people in this sub so maybe you should sit with yourself for a bit and do some self love before typing out more nonsense â¤ď¸ very toxic energy ew
10
u/Troyabedinthemornin 1d ago
Did I say I donât still love Paramore? âEgo Deathâ feels like a natural evolution from âthis is whyâ so I donât really understand whatâs missing? Like they havenât really been a pop-punk band in forever and certainly wouldnât be going back to it. Do you really think if they put out an album tomorrow it would sound entirely different from Hayleyâs solo work?
5
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
You seem pretty argumentative and I donât really know why. I have neither the time nor inclination to explain all the differences between Paramore and Hayleyâs solo music, but there are vast differences and ignoring that also dismisses the musicality the other members of the band bring to their work. Ego Death doesnât sound like a follow-up to TIW whatsoever, Hayley herself wouldnât even say that, the musicality is totally different. That doesnât mean weâre asking for pop-punk, literally no one here has said that. Youâre just projecting some weird nonsense on to me.
22
u/bigboyb67 1d ago
I wouldnât be surprised if they pulled the strokes and started releasing albums every 6-7 years while doing there own things
5
u/ArtDecoBitch 1d ago
and it makes sense, lets grow as people, lets process the emotions we have, lets do that and then maybe give it a go. that is... hell but what we do for emotional harmony isnt it?
3
u/PuzzleheadedRefuse78 23h ago
Yeah the length of time that has passed between their last couple of albums gives me underlying faith that they will be back with another flawless record when they fucking feel like it lol
1
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Well theyâve always taken years in between albums and thatâs normal for basically any band, itâs just all the drama this time which isnât pointing towards positive things
23
u/breadnapper 1d ago edited 1d ago
I don't know. It might be a year from now or a decade from now, but I think they'll get back together and make more music at some point. Maybe I'm just overly optimistic, but Paramore fans have gone through the whole "The band is over!!" panic after almost every album and they always come back in the end. So at this point, my money's on the band staying/getting back together, no matter how things look from the outside.

u/Karl-Marx666 1d ago edited 1d ago
Theres no way the band can go back to being a functional unit after everything that has happened. I can see them touring every once in a while. But getting in a studio and working for a year in a half. It sounds like the way they work is very personal, not just submitting parts. The relationship is fraught and working in that environment it just gonna be rough. Its a shitty situation but at least they dont hate each other like Oasis did.
10
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Yeah and even the petty statements from some of them have just been quite jarring to see honestly, I donât know what to think of it all
5
u/Zealousideal_Art5832 1d ago
I kind of agree. Iâm tapping back into Hayley/Paramore land in preparation to see her perform in a few weeks. I casually follow the band on social and even Iâve noticed the decline. I remember last year when Hayley and Zac did that interview for the 20th anniversary and seemed very supportive of each other publicly with their solo albumsâŚand I havenât seen any type of public support this year. Makes me question things for sure and makes me believe that things arenât positive across the board, not just with H+T. Iâm excited to see her but I know it wonât be a like Paramore show. Hoping for the best for all of them!
1
u/v4mpiremoney 1d ago
we all need to calm down and stop taking context from singular things she says. even if this ended up being an unfortunate truth, this is really weird and parasocial to assume.
14
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Thereâs nothing weird or parasocial about being sad about the (lack of) prospects for the band in light of recent events, itâs a totally normal feeling to have. And itâs not based on this one comment alone but literally EVERYTHING thatâs happened. This isnât a criticism of Hayley or any of the others or some creepy invasion of their privacy like youâre making out. You can calm down.
12
u/sp00kyyelahOG After Laughterđ§Ąđ¤ 1d ago
No, youâre right. That other person is being weird about this.
Itâs not parasocial to pay attention to how the members of a band are doing when that directly affects whether or when that band is going to return.Without a label forcing them into schedules, albums, tours, or obligations, Paramore genuinely seems to have ended for now.
All three members are off doing their own things, and itâs beautiful to see.
Hayley is seemingly speed running features and collaborations. Taylor is taking time off in fucking Iceland for whatever reason. Zac has his own band doing their thing.
IT IS NOT WEIRD to be sad about that or to assume that, for the time being, Paramore is no longer functioning as a band.
Bands break up. They come back. They change. People leave. People return. Sometimes a band exists in a completely different form than it did before.
And as much as some fans might hate the idea, even if Taylor doesnât come back, even if Zac doesnât come back, that doesnât necessarily mean Paramore itself has to be over.
Hayley and the core ParaFour touring members still represent a huge part of the Paramore weâve actually watched perform and evolve over the last decade.
Whatever happens next, it doesnât erase what Paramore was or what it could become. But itâs completely reasonable to look at where everyone is right now and say: yeah, Paramore, as we currently know it, is on hold.4
u/v4mpiremoney 1d ago
i regret my use of the word parasocial in my original comment, it didn't make sense and i see that. sorry for that to the other commenter, because i genuinely agree with everything you said here. i just am tired of people taking "the band is on a break" and "hayley explaining to casuals that her solo music is not paramore" as "the end of paramore". literally everything you just said about their personal projects and how they're going through the waves of life is something i recognize and agree with. i just think reaching for straws with hayley's every comment is tiring.
4
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Hayley has said for yearssss that whatever solo endeavours she partakes in are no reflection on the current state or formation of Paramore, we know this. People arenât upset that Hayley is making solo music in general, we love that. Itâs the content of her new lyrics, how Taylor responded to the early rumours of their split and basically being bullied off instagram, various petty comments and everything else that points towards Paramore essentially being dead in the water, and itâs hard to see how theyâll come out of it this time. Thatâs why people are sad. Itâs not reaching for straws when everything has been laid out in front of us like this, itâs playing out in real time in front of us.
5
u/v4mpiremoney 1d ago
i think we need to just let them be human and go through the waves and work on other things in isolation. they'll either come back with music or tell us that they're done when they're ready. i trust them to be upfront with fans whether through storytelling in their projects or bluntly down the line as they always have. paramore has been essentially broken up before without us knowing and they've made it out. i just think we need to let them be human, and not decide for them prematurely that it's over. i hope it's not true and will be deeply sad if it is, but i also think they might just need this time to reflect without the band being plastered onto their every moves.
1
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Okay, and no oneâs not letting them be human lol. People are allowed to say that theyâre sad about what theyâre witnessing!
6
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
THANK YOU. You have more patience than I do to write such a good response haha.
Itâs like some people think âyouâve got no right to complain about anything, shut up and be grateful that Hayleyâs still making musicâ like??? We can love Hayleyâs music and still be sad about whatâs going on with Paramore. To suggest that is parasocial is just straight up weird.
5
u/TWUndiesBriefs14 1d ago
I feel the same way you do - I will support Hayley and go to her solo shows (I went to two this year), but as you said, her solo stuff is way different than paramoreâŚ.itâs perfectly fine to support the solo stuff but also be sad that paramore is on an indefinite hold. That person on here thatâs being argumentative for the sake of it is just kinda weird
0
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Likewise! Iâll support Hayley to the day I die lol but anyone trying to claim her solo music is the same/an extension of Paramoreâs music is either kidding themselves, was never that into Paramore in the first place or is new here, sorry to say. Idk why you get such staunch Hayley defenders who are happy to insult/dismiss the other members of the band by saying theyâre unimportant as Hayleyâs the main driving force, and that no one can be upset about whatever has happened to Paramore as we have Hayleyâs solo music which is the same. Like we all love Hayley, but that is not true nor is it fair to the other members.
3
u/TWUndiesBriefs14 1d ago
All true. And what you said before about everything they've been through is also all true. In all honesty, this time of an indefinite break was probably overall a good thing - yes, it's sad that we as fans don't get new Paramore tunes, but given all the dynamics and changes in stuff, time apart likely makes the most sense. Time can heal things, and realistically, if they were to collaborate again, it wouldn't be until like 2028 or 2029 at the earliest, so maybe by that time, issues would be worked out, etc, etc, But again, that's wishful thinking, and as you said before, given all they had been presently going through, it would have been really difficult to forge ahead as a band.
I like the solo stuff, but it's way different than Paramore...The shows are also a very different vibe than a Paramore show. Again, seeing Hayley perform is awesome...Her voice is truly generational and amazing. But I do miss the band and hope to see them again at some point.
3
u/v4mpiremoney 1d ago
i get being sad and missing paramore, nothing weird about that, but why are we reaching for words she didn't say? hayley has been called "paramore" her entire career and her correction to someone for assuming her solo act is also still paramore has absolutely 0 implications about paramore itself. i just feel for this woman that wants to be seen as her own person with her own individual music and tour. nothing besides maybe their relationship breakup (that isn't our business anyways), has outright told us paramore is in jeopardy. they've had band breaks longer than this one.
1
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
What are you on about? How are you taking that from my original comment? I havenât âreachedâ for anything⌠youâre talking about things totally irrelevant to my comment.
2
u/v4mpiremoney 1d ago
is "fearing for paramore's future" because she corrected someone about the title of her tour...not reading between the lines here? i apologize sincerely for using the word parasocial, it didn't work there and was wrong. but what exactly did you mean if not that?
-3
u/foxglovespell 1d ago
Girly how are you going to still keep missing the point after Iâve already explained to you that this comment does not exist in isolation? This is why Iâve got no energy to engage with people who are so intent on missing the point and just want to argue for the sake of it.
2
u/Negative-Cockroach52 23h ago
Hayley has said herself that for Paramore to continue they need to heal a dynamic, some shit has gone down and people need to accept that.
0
u/foxglovespell 19h ago

u/yellowcupsoftea 17h ago
Not sure how much you've been following. Hayley and Taylor were together for some time and appear (based on her newest album lyrics) to have broken up. They haven't been seen together, he wasn't at any of her recent tour dates, and he's not a co-writer or producer on any of her new album the way he was listed on her previous solo work.Â
We can suspect that they're not likely to work together for the time being. Which means if 2/3 members of the band are not working together, the band isn't doing anything right now, and aren't likely to in the immediate future. The touring band members that usually tour with Paramore are now touring with Hayley for her solo work.
Her and Zac seem good, she's attended events to support his live album and he was involved in releasing her Grandat's album.
They haven't officially disbanded, and I don't think they will right now. But I don't think this is confirmation that they'll be back, at all. We're still getting new music from 2/3 and Taylor seems quiet for now (though he did crash out a little on Instagram shortly after release of her new album, he's well known for vague-posting and deleting everything after).
If they all return together, it'll be years. I've been following them for the better part of 20 years and I don't think they've ever done what people expect from them. But through all the turmoil they've been through, they always come back. This time, I'm not so sure. I think it will look and sound different if they do.
The post that these comments are on says "Hayley Williams, UK Tour, Summer 2027," that's she's commented on it is just confirmation she's bringing the Hayley Williams Show (her new tour name) to the UK next summer, which is to be expected. It's a tour for the two albums she made (and just her solo work broadly) that she didn't get to tour due to covid.
