I used ATI cat exams nclex style to do practice exams for 5 days did at least one a day I was scoring 60-90 mod but was getting really low scores to like 28 in mod too I feel it prepped me for better test taking strategies but I just want to say I passed the NCLEX

So I think I got the good pop up. I will post a detailed post tomorrow when I get my official update from the board

Going to be retaking the nclex in the near future. Last attempt I had a couple above, most near passing, and a few below. Im trying to figure out how the pass/fail thing works. If I get the below passing to near and the near to above will I pass? Or am I over thinking it? I have a kid coming right around the time i'm going to take it and i'm starting to freak tf out. ​

Can someone give me some insight to the scoring or pass/fail part? Do I have the correct understanding or missing the point entirely?

I did my NCLEX today! It stopped at 85 questions, I swear I failed.
I went to the Connecticut board right after and it showed my name and “PENDING” status. But right now after 3 hours it shows this… please tell me I’ve passed

Hey everybody! I took my NCLEX yesterday and just wanted to give an update about my timeline for results because I know it was nerve wracking to wait.

I finished my exam at 2pm yesterday, did the pearson trick one hour later (at 3pm) and got the good pop up, and received a refund 2 hours later.

I have been checking my nursing board’s website obsessively last night and this morning. At 9am (I think 19 hours after I finished my exam), my license updated to “active” on my state’s board of nursing website. I live in Indiana BTW.

There are still no results available on the Pearson website.

I have an overwhelming case of test anxiety. I recently signed up to take my exam and I wanted to throw up while paying for it. I’m averaging in the 70s - sometimes 80s on Uworld. I took a practice exam and it gave me a “very high chance “ of passing .. but I’m still super nervous. I’ve failed twice but I didn’t study as much as I did this go around. I’m at the point of “whatever I don’t know, I don’t know. What’s important is I know MOST of the material “

I know this is an important exam so a lot of people get anxiety but I’m wondering if anyone has advice on how to cope during the exam. I’m scared I’m going to get in there and the fear will overcome me 😭😭

I was in the same boat as all of us once were or currently are. Scrambling, nervous, researching NCLEX experiences day and night and trying to pinpoint which study tool was right. My school drilled ATI into us and it took me 3 tries to achieve the Greenlight. I was constantly scoring high 60s maaaaybe low 70s. I was never truly confident with ATI because it seemed like I kept plateauing. Then, I tried my friends UWorld account practice tests and was getting mid 70s to even low 80s. I was like wow, this is so much easier than ATI it’s not even funny. I realized ATI is harder almost unnecessarily, BUT it’s great for school because it really gets in depth with content.

After experiencing two different ends of the spectrum I began looking for another study tool that people recommended. I kept seeing Bootcamp, and the main thing that sold me was people kept saying how extremely similar it was to NCLEX. Boy they were not lying. I gave in and purchased the $50 one month access because I had 6 days left to study. I just utilized as many case studies as possible (tried to finish them all but didn’t have time), I did so many practice exams scoring in the mid 70s, and looked at the cheat sheets.

Come NCLEX day, the exam started, and I couldn’t tell if I was taking the NCLEX or still on my Bootcamp account! It was SO SIMILAR. It’s so funny to me, because I read so many reviews like this and here I am writing my own. But yes, the style of questions, the text font, the set up, and even the case studies were all so similar! I HIGHLY recommend using Bootcamp. It’s not as hard as ATI and it’s just as vague as the NCLEX is. So you’ll be ready when you see the real questions. I also reviewed a little Mark K. I listened to maybe half of his prioritization lecture which was quite helpful in choosing which patient to assess or discharge first (I got at least 7-8 of those), and what really helped me was how he explained electrolytes (hypo/hyper magnesium, calcium and so on). The way he explained it really made it so easy and I didn’t have to try to remember the symptoms for each one.

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND watching “One Hour Comprehensive NCLEX Review” by Beautiful Nursing for a quick overview of basics. Just… at the 9 minute mark or so ignore her personal ABG example.

Most of all, get some rest, a good breakfast, some water and deep breathe beforehand. It’s everything we’ve already learned, just be sure to use your clinical knowledge and pick the SAFE answer. Good luck!!!

How I Passed the NCLEX:

The main key to passing the NCLEX is knowing how to ANSWER QUESTIONS, even when you’re not familiar with the question being asked. Do you need the know nursing content? Yes. Do you need to be good at critical thinking? Yes. Do you need to be good at guessing questions? Maybe. The NCLEX is more than a safety exam than everyone says. 

1. Dr Sharon on YouTube (Kilmek Reviews): She works at Klimek Reviews and apparently Mark Klimek happened to be her nursing school professor. I went through her Fundamentals, Pharmacology, Maternity and Women’s Health videos. The reason I love her content is for every topic, she makes up questions and gives you a walkthrough why the answers are correct and incorrect. She also uses every question to explain the content. The way to benefit from her videos is to write down everything she explains. Even if you feel you’re familiar with the content, write it down. Write down the strategies she gives you. I went through the notebook three times before the NCLEX (The third time was the two days before my exam day). She had lots of humor too😂.
2. Bootcamp: The first time I took the NCLEX I used Bootcamp. I won’t say I failed because of Bootcamp, it was because of me, I didn’t have a solid NCLEX preparation plan. Every NCLEX tool can aid your passing, it just depends on how you utilize it. One thing I liked about Bootcamp is their interface. It‘s user-friendly and easy to navigate. I also liked the fact that they had lots of bow-tie questions and case studies. Honestly, you get more for what you paid for. I also like the “NCLEX Question of the Day” they sent to my email every day. I have nothing against Bootcamp. Their content videos are short and informative but their rations are long.
3. UWorld: I used UWorld for my second take. I heard people say it was harder than the NCLEX and Bootcamp, so I decided to give the OG a try. Indeed, UWorld’s questions seemed harder than Bootcamp‘s questions but not the NCLEX. They are more concrete and will make you put your critical thinking hat on. Their rationale was straightforward and not was bulky as bootcamp in my opinion. I used to zone out on Bootcamp’s rationale. I didn’t like UWorld’s content videos. They are a lot and overstimulating. I only watched 10 videos and quit. However, UWorld prepared me well. It thought me how to answer questions better. I cannot choose between Bootcamp or UWorld. They are both good in their own ways.
4. NCLEX Crusade International (7 Day Training): I decided to check it out while working out at the gym. I only got to watch 4 of his videos on 4 different workout days. He gives great strategies to pass the NCLEX. He has a great personality and wants to see people pass. His videos are worth watching. 
5. NCSBN Exam Preview https://ncsbn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8dDCtk2JFOKpjCu This should be mandatory for every NCLEX taker. You shouldn’t write the exam without answering the questions by yourself. It’s from the folks that prepare the exam can so why not. It doesn’t have any answers so I utilized ChatGPT. I was very careful to analyze the answers chat gave me because AI can be wrong. For the most part, most of the answers it gave were correct. They also have a sample pack with answers. 6. Be intentional, consistent and self-disciplined about this exam: Make good time to study or answer practice questions every day. Make sure you doing something exam related everyday even if it just reviewing rationales. The first time I took the exam, I would work 2 days every other week which isn’t crazy but I was also going to graduation parties and events I could’ve avoided or left earlier to go study. I’m not saying make your life 100% NCLEX, I’m saying be disciplined in whatever you plan to do outside your study time. Get enough rest, eat healthy, workout and stay hydrated, participate in your hobbies. Brain fog, anxiety, depression and fatigue will build up if your brain don’t have avenues to ventilat. I’m Christian, so I spent time reading my Bible, praying and didn’t stop going to church. This helped to increase my faith and reduce my anxiety because Jesus gave me peace. 
7. NCLEX Exam: People say the NCLEX is a safety exam but it is more than that. It examines your knowledge on different concepts in a very vague format. You may feel like a majority of the questions are completely outside of what you studied. But your study habits and practice questions will help you answer the questions correctly. I had lots of case studies, I mean 1 question case study which was annoying to read through because I prepared for a 5-6 question case study. I received questions from every content area. Don’t make a mistake of listening to someone that told you they had more OB questions. Be prepared for every subject. The NCLEX doesn’t give the exact questions to everyone. It’s an adaptive test. BE PREPARED. I finished in 140 questions. I 90% thought I failed and 10% passed. You will most likely feel this exact way. But you haven’t failed until your quick results says FAILED two day later. When you finish doesn’t matter. Your computer can shutdown at any point of the exam at or after question 85. Shutting at 85 or 150 can be a pass or fail. Same applies to any other question it shuts at. Don’t obsess over your computer shutting at 85, prepare for it to shut at 150. Train yourself to answer 150 questions at a go while you practice. Also, utilize the breaks they give you. Use the bath, stretch, take a deep breath, drink some water.
8. Exam day: Get enough sleep the night before. Eat a light meal. Limit things that increase your anxiety (caffeine). Don’t have the mindset of a failure, have the mindset of a champion. You passed nursing school you can pass this. Think of the millions of nurses there are in the US, they took this exam and passed. They aren’t better than you. Just be focused with a growth mindset. 
9. Checking my results: I didn’t do the Pearson VUE trick. I checked my state’s Board of Nursing registry and saw Registered Nurse after my name. This didn’t show up after my first NCLEX exam, so I knew I most likely passed this time. I took my exam on a Thursday so my Quick Results were ready on Saturday. I checked and finally saw the PASS I’ve been waiting for!
10. Final advise: You can do whatever you set your mind to do. Failing an NCLEX exam doesn’t define you or isn’t a foreshadow of your clinical competence. You’re way more valuable than this exam. You will pass with the right preparation, practice, mindset, routine, memorization strategies, study habits, critical thinking skills and wellbeing. CONGRATULATIONS IN ADVANCE

Hey so i failed my nclex i take mine in a few days.. I didnt study the first time so I will take that but I am studying using Hurst and not scoring very high on the readiness exams or q banks. I also am watching NLCEX international Crusade. He is helpful and explains it clearly more so his 7 day training. I also used the free nlcex bootmcamp version but ive already done the readiness exam and u you only get one for free. Retaking it wont help, ill just remember the answers.. anywho.. I need help. I dont feel confident at all about this retake but I need to be.. Idk what I need to do ... any tips tricks, things to listen to study etc would help..

I initially used NCLEX bootcamp and switched to Uworld. I’ve taken two CATs and it shut off at 85 questions for both. First exam: 67% difficulty: 1.12.
My second exam is in the image 72% difficulty: 1.22 in 99th percentile. Is this an accurate representation of if I will pass? I’m going to take a couple more but my test is tomorrow at 12:30PM. Would love to hear any thoughts based of my scores and if that says anything about my performance on the NCLEX tomorrow. Thanks!

Are these good scores for the ATI cat exams?

I actually graduated Nursing school 2 years ago 🙇🏽‍♀️ I know…. Let’s not get into that. So I actually took 2.5 weeks of leave at work, I had to make that sacrifice. But before that, couple months ago I did start unserious-ly start studying and I started with Remar I got through half of the virtual lectures and stopped and postponed my exam… then my att expired 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ and I had to wait FOREVER for the new one.

Okay so back to the 2.5 week study. I did the Remar lectures and the corresponding Mark K lectures I think listening to both was great I think either or is good but both really reinforces the information. Then after I did questions both on UWorld and Remar.

I do feel like Remar questions are harder than Uworld questions. Remar also has the quick facts book that I didn’t take advantage of as much as I should’ve tbh and I would say that was the only I wish I would’ve done differently. I’ve seen some comments about Remar and won’t deny that there are some idk mistakes but they are not significant they really aren’t, it’s not misinformation or anything. At the end of the program I passed the CAT exam, it was tough.

With Uworld I got an average of 69% did about 30% of the questions about 786 questions ( also did some questions with Remar) I got a borderline on the UWorld test. But I realized that I needed to go over the “smaller diseases” which were in my quick facts but I had to sort of cram them and I wish I didn’t do that.

I listened to Mark K lectures and also found this creator on Tik Tok that summarizes them such a blessing @savannah.shayyy and the day before I listened to Beautiful Nursings comprehension 3X.

When I took my exam I got a couple of cases one bow tie and prioritization. The way I felt about the NCLEX it self is that yes I’m familiar with all the subjects but why would you ask me that lol. Them 48 and a half hours were TORTURE.

I got my results after church. 😭 most importantly I couldn’t have done it without God. I petitioned my pass to God and trusted in Him and Called of Him. He gave me peace and understanding that’s beyond me and I thank Him. I had to come back to Reddit to testify because this community has helped me.

I officially passed the NCLEX!!! I wanted to share my experience and what helped me because I know I was constantly looking at Reddit posts before taking mine.

I took my NCLEX 8/28 ended at 8pm and got all 150 questions. I got my Quick Results today 8/30 at 4:19 PM and found out that I PASSED!!!

First of all: PLEASE do not panic if you go past 85 questions. I went into the exam prepared to take all 150 questions because of Mark Klimek Lecture 12. Going past 85 questions does NOT mean you’re failing. I took all 150 and passed!
I graduated in May and honestly took some time off before seriously studying. I originally used UWorld and was scoring in the 70s, but my self-assessments were still giving me borderline results. I was originally scheduled to test on August 7th, but I didn’t feel ready, so I rescheduled.

UWORLD VS. BOOTCAMP: My UWorld subscription expired, and instead of repurchasing it, I decided to try NCLEX Bootcamp. Personally, I preferred Bootcamp. UWorld is definitely good, especially for detailed rationales, but I genuinely felt like Bootcamp was the most comparable to the actual NCLEX in terms of question style. The NCLEX felt very vague, and Bootcamp really helped me learn how to approach those types of questions.

My main study method was doing a lot of QBank questions, reading the rationales, and writing down information that I genuinely didn’t know or guessed on. At the end of the day, I would review everything I wrote down.

YOUTUBE VIDEOS (MUST WATCH): I also HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sharon from Klimek Reviews on YouTube and Mark Klimek Lecture 12. Sarah RN- Her pharmacology vid. NCLEX Crusade 7 day training. Those, combined with doing practice questions, really helped me understand not just the content, but how the NCLEX wants you to answer questions.

My biggest advice:
Do lots of practice questions
Read and understand your rationales
Review things you genuinely don’t know
Watch Dr. Sharon
Listen to Mark K Lecture 12
Learn how to approach NCLEX-style questions, not just memorize content
Do not panic if you go past 85 questions
Go in prepared to take all 150 questions

I take NCLEX this Friday. I am freaking out!! 🥲 I have been studying but it never feels enough. How to know you are ready or will I ever feel “ready”?
