They think america was the big impressive dinosaur and the germans, japenese and italians were mediocre.
But the germans were a big bad dinosaur who got swarmed with weak russians, but too many of them to hold off while the american big (but smaller then they think), the french chicken, the british big dino also attacked. And the italians and japanese were not joining.
I.e. americans think that they were the only factor that won ww2, and that germany, italy and japan were a joined equal force. But germany was attacked by the soviets (big factor), british, french and americans. (Canada, polish, australia and lots of others too but they don't show up somehow). And the germany was the big force and italy and japan amounted to much less of threat than germany.
