The way I was taught WWII in high school was about the eastern front and everything in Europe. As far as USA, it was about Americas resistance to entering the war, and then entering the war in the context of the Great Depression, and how it happened at the end of the war overall. Heavy emphasis on learning about the Holocaust since middle school.
And I went to a shitty public school in a small town in a state with not a great education system. So I assume that was standard.
I mean europeans (most of the world in general) are definitely more exposed to all sorts of american medias forcefed to them 24/7 from all sides than the other way around. I would absolutely say europeans know more about how americans think on average than the other way around.

Algorithms, deals etc. The best example for that was the 24h Tiktok ban in the US. For the first time EVER we could see international accounts from all countries except the USA. (The closest we ever came to world peace) Suddenly, small accounts blew up over night. And the day after, it was the same generic american feed again. I see more stuff from the US than my country, let alone from countries that border my country.

You do realize that the algorithm doesn’t just show me what I watch but what MANY people watch and what MIGHT interest me, right?
Also there are many accounts that buy views and promotion. Usually American accounts.

Social media platforms will show you a plethora of types of videos. The videos you watch and interact with more will take up the majority of your feed. If you are being bombarded with Americanized content thats because thats what you interact with and watch. Which means you're complaining about a problem you are creating for yourself. You are literally the problem in this scenario. Not Americans and their shitty content. Not the algorithm. You.

Also, good for you for only having 2 interests, I watch A LOT of different stuff and my FYP is full of random shit, 95% of it is American.
Sure, I watch a lot of American stuff, but usually because it was shown to me first. I don't dislike the American stuff, but I dislike that it's already the majority that is recommended to me, although I like a lot of international stuff when I see it.
It's similar with the film industry. Where I live, we do have the occasional French comedy movie, some movies from the UK, a few hyped local movies and like 1 break out movie from a different country once every 10 years. The rest of all movies that are shown in cinemas, available to buy and dubbed are Hollywood movies.
It's not because the other movies aren't good or because we aren't interested in them. It's because we are forcefed American media. The worst of it all is that we are forcefed American remakes of popular european/ foreign movies that are hyped up MORE than the originals that were often better anyway. (Like for example LOL, New York Taxi, True Lies, Death at a funeral, Italian Job, and many many more.)
That's a fair point, but I'd say only slightly more, only on average and they still know far less about how we think than we know ourselves.

Well, its seems reasonable when you consider the insane amount of people that are so utterly dumb and poorly educated that have decided to elect the orange child fucker into office (again).
It's worth remembering that Trump never once cracked 50% of the vote and is by far the least popular president in modern US history. Yes, way too many people support him, but those who don't tend to revile him to a degree that I have trouble expressing. We're definitely not a monolith.

In comparison, the NSDAP in Nazi Germany got 43% votes in 1933. Yet it was "all Germans were Nazis" and many people still think that way.
Also in comparison, the current german chancellor Friedrich Merz is also the least popular chancellor with "only" <15% people that still support him (85% are anti-Merz, so probably a lot that don't care enough) And most are shocked that there are still people who support him. But, in defense of Friedrich Merz, he's not a convicted felon and not THAT stupid and unlikeable.
So yeah "60% are anti Trump" but "40% are still pro child-rapist" and that's the important part.
