Yea fr, I don’t get the “the soviets carried” in what deaths? Just cuz ur side sacrificed millions more men than the others doesn’t mean jack. If anything it shows how crappy they were
They also carried in war crimes. Though only second potato to those invader Nazi. In my country it was over 10% of populations slaughtered and burned by the Nazi. Still my grandmother remembered when she was child and running through the winter to hide in the mountain. Still we are very thankful for the Allies and sacrifice of their many lives.
80 percent of German soldier who died did so fighting the USSR. That ain't jack though? That they were inefficient is undeniable, but the result is the result. They did what was necessary to win.
That's right. And the ratio of Viet Cong to US deaths was at least 10 to 1. Wars aren't always won by having a good kill/death ratio. Many times it's about who has more resolve.
They still are important too a wars victory the most important aspect to Germanys loss that people ignore was their production lines being bombed which was almost entirely done by american/British planes the reason America lost was because nothing was firmly controlled they weren't fighting a territory they were fighting a group and after all the American soldiers died no satisfing hold on Vietnam happened.
It should also be mentioned south veitnam still stayed up for a couple years as part of ho chi Minhs promise which wasn't a complete loss til he died
There are more examples. The American revolution. The Mexican revolution. Hell every revolution in the Americas was fought against superior forces. The point is people defending their home have a distinct advantage that must be accounted for. If they win the war they win the war regardless of how many lives they lost.
Doing everything technically correct: destroying supply lines and killing more of the enemy than they do you, is only part of the equation and history shows us that. The person I responded to made the point that the Soviets died way more than the Germans so that means they didn't do anything. That's BS. I want to know what exactly the Americans and British were going to do if Russia didn't put up the fight that it did.
The Allies all played their parts. The victory belongs to all of them.
Fighting countries 1000s of miles away usually isn't worth it whenever America won a war against a different distant country it was a full on government not a messy guerrilla group
Wow, it is almost like a nation who was not ready for war, was overwhelmed by Blitzkrieg like everyone else & which was a new strategy, had a good portion of the military command purged, & had a leader that did not believe they were getting attacked at first.
Like no shit Sherlock, of course they would lose many people in the early stages of the war, most of those reasons was that they were surprised & overwhelmed by the sheer haste of Blitzkrieg at the start of the war
Let's just forget that 75% of German casualties was on the Eastern front against the USSR, Stalingrad was a turning point in the war in Europe, Germany started to loose the war in Europe in the Eastern front first, that they lost most of their best & professional armies & lost so many resources against the USSR
