A lot of older Marvel movies had bad writing (Iron Man 2 and 3, Thor 2, Ragnarok, Black Panther) yet were doing well and people like them, me included. But the moment you need to watch 8 different movies and TV shows to understand entire plot of a sidekick movie, you just tune out. And yes, you can just not watch that all and see the movie as is. But you do miss a lot of nuances, have no clue who is what character or why they are there (e.g. Dr. Strange is pretty much instrumental for like 6 movies) and so on. It makes the movies confusing.
Endgame was the end for many, only to pop in for spider man and then ignore the marvel movies again.
There will be marvel revival in like 15-20 years again, but as of now for a lot of people they became spaghetti westerns you need to watch all to understand them.

I will never understand this. These aren't Shakespeare, for goodness's sake. You're not jumping into Game of Thrones halfway through episode 3 of the sixth season. Even the good ones are so clearly written for the most unfamiliar person and they always dump exposition, no matter how ham-fisted, in the first five minutes of the film
