Shou Tucker; prior to the events of the show FMA:B, he fused his wife with an animal to 'create' a talking chimera for his State Alchemist license (Which is essentially a military funded research grant thing, but with the caveat that should you be called to arms you must as a State Alchemist, as you're given the rank (starting rank) of Major if you're a State Alchemist.) All it could do was moan in pain and asked to be killed. His State Alchemist licensure test was coming up again, and in order to keep the license, he did it again. This time with his like 5 year old daughter and pet dog.

Edward Elric, the protag and youngest State Alchemist (a certifiably literal genius) is staying with him and his daughter (no one knows how he created the chimera, and everyone just thinks his wife left him and his daughter) and discovers his plot, just barely too late to stop it. He finds Nina and Alexander (the girl and dog) fused together. All she can do is moan in pain, and she looks at him and calls him 'Big Brother... Ed... ward?' and it makes him go crazy and he starts wailing on Shou Tucker, only stops when Nina begs him to stop hurting her father.

Nina is eventually mercy killed by a character named Scar I think the next episode. Shou is never put to trial as he is also killed, IIRC.

LMAO yeah no. It's a pretty good anime, and relatively short. Was the #1 anime for over a decade and only just got beat out by Frieren a couple years ago. I recommend it even if you don't watch anime a lot haha.

Frieren is good and all, but NOTHING beats FMA Brotherhood

I mean... clearly Frieren did beat FMA lol.

frieren is over hyped for me tbh. It's just so boring for me. I know its more slice of life and the pacing is intentional, but my adhd brain demands there to be atealst SOMETHING happening in each episode, but it feels like there are episodes where not a single spell is cast and its just like them walking through the forest or talking while they make breakfast or going shopping.

I think it came out at the perfect time, but had it come out probably 5 years earlier it wouldn't have had as much success as it did. We've been overstimulated as a society, and Frieren came out and is just... quiet. And I think the anime community needed quiet, plus it doesn't hurt that it's a 'good quality' anime too.

Everything else is just nonstop gogogogogo, and Frieren just puts a pause on it all. I personally don't like Frieren either but I think it's just a perfect mix of what everyone needed. Kinda similar to how FMA:B became number 1 - isn't everyone's top 1 but is always in someone's top 5 or 10, because it's a perfect mix of what everyone (at the time) needed. And it's still #2 because of that

the only thing i know about frieren is what ive seen in reddit comments and that is there is a tall busty person looking down at a short person

Frieren works so much better for me in the manga than anime.

I might try this tbh. Manga is great because you can read at your own pace and in manga with full page spreads, it is so nice to just admire all the beautiful line work. Hard to do with with anime because most shots at any given time are not nearly as detailed. The physical act of turning a page or zooming in and out also makes it oddly more interactive and engaging for me.

Lodging my daily complaint about people on Reddit using abbreviations for shows/games and just assuming everyone knows what they mean.

I'm not going to Google every acronym that someone is too lazy to type out.
