Try and think of our global system as an engine that's purpose is to make fuel for itself. It needs to keep it's input above the output in order to keep powered on. As soon as the input drops below output the machine starts to slow down and can no longer sustain itself. The engine is not designed to slow down so it very quickly breaks down

How is a drop in prices equivalent to a lack of fuel?

Ignore me if I’m missing the point: It’s not so much the drop in prices as the growing belief that the prices will continue to drop. People withhold money expecting a better deal and stop spending.  The lack of consumer spending is the drop in fuel.

I don't see this being an actual issue after such insane inflation. There is pent up demand and no ability to buy.
