Help with putting together a proposal.

Hello everyone:

I have this design for a new type of propulsion system to enable the sought after "Warp-Drive" engine, based in a Photophone I designed initially for recording signals, but it can actually transduce electricity into coherent light waves in general sense. The laser(s) will be placed in the front of the hull pointing forward, like the propeller blades of an aircraft. I expect the laser to transmit the acoustic modulation to the space plasma and "entangle" or ionize symmetrically in a unified electromagnetic field a relatively large volume of space populated by ions, and create such as an electrostatic field that would pull the ship forward. My vision is a spaceship with ionic or chemical back thrusters, and a few lasers in the front ionizing the medium. Once the ship picks up speed and enters the ionized region, the back thruster will expand the matter getting past the horizon events formed right in front of the laser lenses, expanding the bubble backwards. And there you go warp-drive.

I am having many issues with posting this because I had become long ago a dissident of Physics' today's state. For years I used to read many papers and some books. I did not studied Physics but I studied Audio Engineering and worked for some years in radio, and I have a good background in electronics and signal analysis, and I certainly can understand most Physical theories and even most equations. But I do not agree with many postulates and approaches of today's Physics. Simply I think that nowadays theory has become a vast valley of speculative knowledge without too many actual results other than experiments and more experiments, and there is a very generalized subjective hope that from the discovery of a single property of the universe or a single type of energy or "particle" the collective would be able to engineer steadfast a certain engine that uses that special property or particle to do its thing.

In my case I am offering a simple and feasible engineering solution, as simple as must inventions that have worked are. And I can explain it with my own words, just like if you asked an inventor, not a theoretical scientist that will overflood you with knowledge but without practical solutions.

I am posting this here asking for suggestions of what mathematical model(s) and Physics theories you would use to explain what happens when an acoustically modulated laser interference pair excited the plasma in the outer space, if I wanted to explain this to theorists who only say they agree if it sound similar to the rest of their knowledge. Also, I looking to invite people to join me if they wish to participate in the project of creating an engineering venture, to apply for funding programs with several institutions and organizations to research on this specific subject and build the constant-velocity-device or Warp Drive that this can become. I am looking for people for the positions of CEO/foreman, CTO/foreman (or forewoman), mathematicians, physicists, designers, engineers and researchers; I only want to be a researcher. So please DM me if you feel like, aside contributing with the theoretical and mathematical models to study this proposal.

(The diagram shows the recording head I invented first, which is not the propeller but is very similar. Just let's say we are using a negative lens to expand the beam past the optics instead of condensing it... and that we use heat-resistant audio drivers).

Thank you in advance,

Ennis

Where does the plasma come from in the vacuum of space?

Hello: Good question. It would use the plasma in the space. Space is not totally empty: it has small amounts of plasma and the lasers can reach very far and charge these particles and mobilize their charges creating space currents and create a static vortex in front of the ship with the electricity attracted from very far away.

I think that would be the place to start: Formulate how much force is potentially available in the plasma of a typical sample of space.

You need to show a few things:

  • The total potential force available in the medium you're using
  • The mechanics of how your device will manipulate the medium, such that it produces force
  • The energy required for that manipulation

A couple things I wasn't clear on:

  • You said the lasers will entangle or ionize plasma. Plasma is, by definition, already ionized. That's what makes it plasma. I'm not sure what you meant by entangle. I know it is the quantum mechanical phenomenon, but I don't see how that applier here.
  • I'm also not sure what you mean by "expand the matter". Do you mean propel it backward?

One last note, maybe don't call it warp drive. Warp drive is already a well established concept based on warping the fabric of space. This is fundamentally not that, so it could lead to confusion.

How is this drive supposed to go FTL ? nothing with mass can go FTL and any way to bend space requires negative matter and your proposal doesn’t remove the ship mass or create a warp field/ wormhole

Hello: Thank you for your contribution. I do not think this can go faster-than-light. Nothing can go faster than light. It could go faster than current space engines.

It creates a quasi-static electromagnetic field right in front of the lasers, because of the periodical friction that the lasers produce on the plasma. The space plasma aka solar wind contains enough ions to be the mass forming the bubble. But you also need ion thrusters in the back of the ship so once the ship enters the region that the laser is ionizing this plasma matter gets expanded and acquires more magnetic flux. The matter flows backwards and the ship is wired/grounded so that the flux flows forwards towards the portal, forming a spherical flow. In space there is enough charge to fly in quasi-electrostatic currents but these charges need to be organized, the laser(s) do that. The ship stays inside the gap between both the laser and the ion thrusters in what is going to be the portal of energy.

The warp bubble is formed by the joint action of the laser exciting the matter, and the ion thrusters expanding this matter backwards. Pretty much like the flame of a candle or fire in general forms: there is a region that the evaporation of the combustible happens, then it expands and the combustion happens around this expansion at the boundary of the region that expands; forming a portal inside it. Thank you for asking.

So it basically suck fuel in from the front of the ship using electromagnetic fields and then use ion engines to push it out at the back of the ship right?

I expect it to pull ions towards the ship from the front and then expand them around from the back. Although the electrical charge would create pretty much a bubble around the ship including the front of it. Thank you again!

You want to be a researcher, but don’t know the background physics or the math to establish that your claims are valid.

You know your claims are valid because they are a “simple engineering solution” though.

So the answer would be to build your thing. Or at least the various key components which appear to be beyond current scientific comprehension, but are actually obvious when you know how light is acoustic.

You expect us to be skeptical, or at least I hope you realize that by including “i disagree with most of what you all know and also don’t know most of it at all” we would be skeptical of even the most reasonable seeming proposal, let alone one which claims to be able to make something we are reasonably certain is impossible while also failing to mention how it will do the impossible thing, just using its name and leaving us to wonder if you know what that name is meant to include as function…

Your proposal claims to have a lot of things do stuff that they just cannot do at all. So your explanation is off, or we cannot possibly give you equations to explain it at all. You use terms that exist, but in ways that make no sense with what they mean. It reads very strongly like you have spent a few dozen hours working with an LLM which was doing the usually sycophancy and agreeing with and expanding on everything you insisted must be true.

What makes you think that I don't know anything about what I am doing and that you are such an authority to correct me or otherwise? I just asked for help not for judgement.

I may have misread or misremembered, I swear you said exactly that directly in your post. Looking back to quote you to yourself I find no such statement.

Can you explain what you mean with any of your claims without the jargon though? Like your first observation with your Photophone… what precisely did it do that wasn’t just the standard?
