Captain Doggo Update: she's doing better!!!
Just wanted to update everybody on my Luna's double eye surgery!!! She's doing way better--the vet ended up needing to take our 2 stitches in her eye cause it looks like they were causing excess irritation. So thankful for the help and advice I got from you guys!!
Edit: thank you everyone for all the love for Luna!!!! Been giving her all the hugs, kisses, and little treats β€οΈπ§‘

Glad she is doing better! She is also the softest-looking dog I may have ever seen. It looks like she would make a soft poof sound when you pet her.

Thank you :)) she's definitely soaking in all the love hehe So she had glaucoma and had to get both eyes taken out cause it was just getting to a point where no pain medication was working :/. She got the double enucleation like late July, and around 22 days ago her left eye was looking awful! Just had pus and was still scabbing like crazy, so I came to reddit for advice. From there, ended up going to the vet, and turned out the surgeon had put a couple stitches in improperly! She got them taken out, and from there she healed beautifully!!! No more pain meds and just living happy and healthy <33

This is my first time seeing Luna! My sweet boy Orson is getting a bilateral enucleation on Tuesday and we are so worried about him and his recovery π I'm so glad Luna is doing so well!

Oh man, it was definitely an anxiety inducing process--it took her a while to heal (just in her case, though!! I spoke with some other people who said their pups or cats healed super quick, so really just depends on your baby's personal journey). I'm very thankful that we finally got to this point! Definitely just keep the cone on your baby for a while--that helps with both letting him learn to navigate the space around him without hopefully hitting his stitches too hard. I also ended up buying pool noodles and putting them on corners lol. The first day back, and even into the second and third day, Luna didn't really want to eat much--I had to goad her with some chicken breast (which opened her appetite up pretty quick hehe) and take the water bowl into her bed and wet her lips. And for walks I didnt walk very far with her, just kept it short until she pooped and peed for i think the first week and a half. Just keep watch on him and play it by ear!! Any concerns, call your vet for anything (trust me, I probably bothered mine too much lol)
Sorry for such a long reply!! Wishing the best and fastest recovery for Orson β€οΈ β€οΈ

The pups are resilient. They adapt so quickly. It's hard on the humans, but the dogs don't seem to mind so much!! It's for the best!!

Thank you!!!! π ππ I hope your shiba is doing awesome too!!! She is honestly recovering great!!! It really did take a while for her to get to this point, so I'm just grateful we're here lol
In regards to her mood, she is so much better than she was before. The glaucoma had been such a damper on her personality--like she was in pain near constantly (I honestly regret not having her get the procedure done earlier)!! Activity wise, she's now super playful when she's not napping (which I mean, she still naps a lot--she's 14 so I don't expect her to do a complete 180) and has been more of a brat lol but I am more than happy to see that side of her again :))
How has your shib been doing??
