It's that time of the month again; Ranking Time! To keep the subreddit less cluttered with everyone and their mom's rankings, we're going to use this thread specifically for the community to post their rankings/tiers.

So here we go! Post your rankings, tell what your favorites are and why, etc! Just remember, while you may not agree with a user's list, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they don't have to explain their choices to you if they don't want to, and there are no wrong answers. Everything is subjective. SO PLAY NICE! ;)

Mod Approved [Product Trial] Which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? Test the LG Sound Suite with your Pixar movies & find out!

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi r/Pixar users!

After the great response to our previous LG OLED G6 trial program, we’re back with another opportunity to explore what makes a great home movie experience.

For Pixar fans, sound is a big part of the storytelling experience, and the right setup can make everything from quiet character moments to large cinematic scenes feel more immersive.

So, which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? A suitable system should combine wireless speakers, flexible placement, and room-aware calibration so you can position speakers around your space without relying on a traditional fixed layout.

That’s why we’re running a review event with r/Pixar where two (2) Redditors will get the chance to try the LG Sound Suite Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro and share their honest thoughts with the community.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro H7 + 4 M7 + W7
  • H7: the world’s first Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) soundbar, designed as a high-end Dolby Atmos soundbar for an immersive home audio setup
  • M7: wireless speaker featuring 3 full-range speaker units and 1 woofer
  • W7: wireless subwoofer featuring an 8-inch Peerless woofer

The M7 wireless speakers and W7 wireless subwoofer let you build a multi-speaker TV setup without running speaker signal cables between the units across the room.

What Are the Main Advantages of Home Audio Systems with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect?

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect(DAFC) allows greater flexibility in speaker placement while adapting the surround sound experience to the actual speaker positions and room environment. Rather than requiring a traditional fixed layout, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) analyzes each speaker’s position and the room environment to intelligently optimize the surround sound experience.

With the LG Sound Suite, you can experiment with different M7 speaker locations and see how the system responds while watching your favorite Pixar movies.

How Do I Calibrate Speakers for an Optimal Spatial Sound Stage?

For an optimal spatial sound stage, calibration should account for speaker placement, the room environment, and the listener’s position.

  • Room Calibration Pro uses spatial recognition technology to analyze your room and listening environment, adding the kind of room calibration capability many people look for when comparing high-end Dolby Atmos soundbars.
  • Sound Follow recognizes the listener’s position and helps create a personalized “sweet spot.”

Together with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, these features let you explore how speaker placement and calibration affect the spatial sound experience in your room.

What Will You Get to Test?

You’ll be able to experiment with different speaker configurations and placements around your TV, then use Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, Room Calibration Pro, and Sound Follow to see how the system adapts to your room and listening position.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro   H7 + M7 ×4 x W7
Immersive Suite 7 Pro H7 + M7 ×2 x W7
Stereo Suite 7 M7 ×2

Featuring H7, M7, and W7 speakers, Sound Suite supports up to 50 different combinations, giving you flexibility to find a setup that works for your listening environment.

Discussion Do you think the Underminer will return in Incredibles 3?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I don’t think he will return, especially since John Ratzenberger is no longer in every Pixar movie. And even if he still was in every Pixar movie, they could always find a different role for him to play in Incredibles 3. But as for the Underminer, I think he’s long gone.

Cars My idea for a Cars 4 movie

Upvotes

I had an idea for what Cars 4 could be about. It’d be similar to Cars 2, and the two spy cars would return. This time they’re exposing a cabal of chop shop operations, which would basically be the equivalent of the organ trade.

The opening is Mater talking to a chop shop operator, and initially the conversation appears like they’re fixing the cars, not dismantling them. Mater finds one of the missing cars, and starts rescuing him, when he’s caught by the chop shop owners.

It jumps back to a few months earlier, with Mater aiding Cruz with her racing career, and Holley approaches him after the race. She lets him know about a mission they could use his help with, something that he is uniquely suited to doing: towing cars to safety, and saving them from being dismantled.

Lightning uses his connections in the racing world to find out more about what happened to the missing cars, some of which were former racers that Lightning knew.

Opinion Hot take: the "Kitty has to go" scene from Monsters Inc is the saddest scene in Pixar history.

Now, I know this scene has a happy ending with Boo getting reunited with Sully, but dang it all if I didn't start badly crying when he said "Kitty has to go", and then when Boo opens the closet door only to just find a closet...this scene just brought me to tears. And that's not to say that Ellie's death from Up isn't heartbreaking either, but when I last watched the Monsters Inc scene (Which was just a couple minutes ago) I was honestly surprised at how much I cried.

Heavier Kid Focus In Pixar Projects Made Under Pete Docter

Something I've noticed with Pixar projects made under Pete Docter's tenure is the heavier focus on kid characters or showing more of their perspectives. We have movies like Luca, Turning Red, and Elio starring kids/young teens. Movies like Toy Story 5 and Inside Out 2 show more of the perspective of the kid/young teenage characters. Incredibles 3 also seems to have this given how Dash and Violet are apparently getting more focus. Pixar's first original series not based on established franchises, Win Or Lose, is about middle schoop kids. Also, while it's only approved by Pixar and not made by Pixar, Cars: Lightning Racers is being made for Disney Junior. This isn't a complaint, but more that he has a different style of doing things.

Toy Story I became a music transcriber

Hi everyone! I learned how to transcribe music during the pandemic. I’ve always been a fan of songs from animated shows, so I used to figure them out by ear to play them. Eventually, I wanted to learn how to write them down musically, so I studied music theory, harmony, instrumentation, and everything else I could by watching videos.

At first, I would just write out the bass, drums, and guitar parts, but I eventually progressed to arranging full songs and doing sound design. I’d love to show you a bit of my work,

The example video features the song "Strange Things" by Randy Newman; there are some minor sound issues because I am not a professional.

There’s a link in my channel description to my musescore page where you can download some scores in MIDI or MuseScore format if you like. 👍😁

There are videos on YouTube that explain how to download MuseScore files for free

Finding Nemo Twisted Tale book idea- What if Darla killed Nemo and Marlin went insane?

For those of you who don't know, Twisted Tales "is an anthology series of books based around alternate "What if" spins on Disney and Pixar animated films".

After seeing Darla kill his son, Marlin is furious and goes insane, waging a war against humans, while Dory's part of an underground group with Nemo's school friends trying to stop him.

I doubt Disney would ever allow such a book because it's quite dark lol

Opinion Unpopular opinion: In inside out 2, the true villain is Coach Roberts.

Think about it, look at her only actions throughout the movie. First, she acts all friendly towards girls who aren’t even in high school yet and invites them to a skills camp, which is actually a military-like camp. Then, call one person out for something that literally everyone was doing (Riley), making her the “sacrificial lamb” and still continues to berate and belittle her, even during practice. Which leads to anxiety pushing Riley for validation, something she didn’t really need. Then, something just pushed it over the edge. After penalizing her for an accident she caused, minutes afterwards, throughout the whole panic attack, she doesn’t ONCE check on her, showing she only cares about physical pain and not emotional pain. I hate this woman. She’s a horrid human being.

Just riley standing beside a giant sentient cell (Before you ask, I kinda see all of the inside out characters as Riley's brain cells, that's why the emotions look that way cuz they're like her neurons)

When the kids made fun of Bonnie in the group chat, I’m pretty sure Lily was thinking she was sort of in the wrong.

I feel like this is the only time she felt guilty about, well, anything.

Unpopular Opinion: Wall-E is Pixar's worst of the Golden Age

Post image
0 Upvotes

I rewatched it recently and I don't know why people like it so much. The first act espescially is really boring, watching WALL-E rolling around and picking up trash for ages. and there's not really a conflict. The villian is dumb and it played into common tropes surrounding climate change and megacorporations. Couldn't care less about the two protagonists and it ended up as a romance movie for some reason. Ending is really predictable. People usually look at A Bug's Life and Cars as the worst of the golden age but both of those had good characters and a good plot, yes a bit stereotypical but that was reserved for certain scenes unlike the entirety of this movie. This movie is still way better than other movies Pixar has made, though out of the golden age it is by far the worst.

Discussion I just realized something I never noticed about Toy Story 2's ending: The timeline of events in the final scene should be impossible.

Toy Story 2 is my favorite in the series, always has been, always will be. But I did notice something that doesn't make any sense timeline-wise. We see through the window that the toys took the luggage car back to Andy's house from the airport. Fine, funny sight gag, I always enjoyed that, especially how the neighbors are outside looking at it. Since they likely would have called a tow truck or the airport to have it taken back right away, so this means it's the next morning. Yet when the toys turn on the TV, we see Al, crying and defeated. So Al somehow flew to Japan from the United States, realized he didn't have the toys, flew back, and shot this commercial, all in the span of less than 24 hours? How fast was that plane? As much as I love this movie, I realized that final scene doesn't make sense time-wise.

Got the session from this song, sorry for the bad quality of the audio and video...

I haven't seen Elemental in a lot of time, but this song is really special to me... I remember back in 2024 when I met her... We were like the water & fire (Opposite poles) but I really didn't care about it, we were friends and enjoyed a lot... And this song was always playing in my headphones when I talked to her, imagine a future with her and wanted to really dedicated this song to her...

Now she's gone, I don't know if I will ever talk again to her... Fall in love or anything similar, but this song will always have a really special place in my heart... thanks L...

(BTW... Don't ask for the session I won't share the files)

From what I get from that quote is essentially one bit of syndrome plan pretending to be a hero and other characters like omni man from invincible homelander from the boys and Red Keeper from Go Go Loser Rangers
