Hand Pixelled [OC] Occo Pixel Animation
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A pixel animation commission made for a friend, Anakensic ( https://x.com/anakensic / https://bsky.app/profile/anakensic.bsky.social ), featuring their OC Occo surveying planets in a solar system.
This was one of my most expansive and detailed animations to date, and they encouraged me to post it on this subreddit (as well as make and use an account). I just cross the karma gate to post here so I thought I'd share it with you all!~
I cannot stress how much of a challenge this was to work on, from studying how the earth looks from space to figuring out a color gradient for the landmasses on the surface. Even the background star field required a lot of both practice and 'cheating' where I'd create a big circle, and copy past it a bunch of times to create a fake sense of depth and delete and blend them together where possible.
Doing this commission took me a couple of months, so alas it is not something that I can easily replicate on a larger scale. Not to mention it took a lot of wind out of my sails. You'll get so sick of pixels once you animate a long enough project with them! DX
Anyway apologies for the ramble, I wasn't sure what to put for the description and I apologize if this broke any rules. I'm trying to learn the formatting and rules necessary for posting things like this so I can get my work out there more. At the very least I hope you enjoy~

Hand Pixelled Swordtember day 1 - Jellyfish
A Storm Jelly impaled with a carved Ferrocoral spike. Though the jelly is long dead, its spark bladders remain intact, allowing the highly conductive coral to carry the charge and electrify the weapon

Hand Pixelled 1 Bit Dragon feedback
Been working on larger pieces using a really limited palette and wanted to see how far I could push the detail without losing the pixel-art feel.
I’m pretty happy with the dragon and the framing, but I’m still experimenting with the balance between large black shapes and dense detail.
Would love feedback on the anatomy/pose, readability, and especially whether the environment is supporting the dragon or competing with it.
Made in Aseprite.
