Community Update: Improving Quality of Posts and Contributions

Hi Everyone,

We've heard you loud and clear; we need more moderation on this community.

First, I want to apologize for the lack of love and attention here. Some travel and family stuff has kept me more away from Reddit than I'd like, but things are improving and I am going to be spending more time on the moderation of this subreddit starting today.

Now, onto how we're going to fix this.

Effective immediately, I've implemented these items which should immediate improvement:

  • Rules have been posted that clearly state that referral codes and app promotion is not allowed.
  • Automoderation tools have been added to fight watch face spam.
  • Automoderation tools have been added to prevent new users from flooding the subreddit with low quality content
  • Automoderation tools have been added that will ensure user-reported content will be removed and flagged for review automatically.

Please ensure you report posts that are not in compliance and I will improve these tools so that they never make it into our feeds in the first place.

I hope this has an immediate quality impact on our community. Please keep the feedback coming; we are listing. As we get into product launch season, we'll also look at new ways to engage with our community members

All the best,
Ziggy

If you're interested in how accurate Pixel Watch's sleep tracking is, here's a summary of the research on it

I pulled 14 sleep lab (polysomnography) studies across Fitbit, Oura, Apple Watch, Whoop and Garmin to try to identify what wearable has the "most accurate" sleep tracking across different sleep metrics. Pixel Watch utilizes the same sleep algorithm as Fitbit (Google Health) but has fewer independent studies using their hardware so this will blend studies between the two. Here's a summary of what I found.

Short version: Pixel Watch/Fitbit's algorithm is one of the most consistent across all the studies. In the biggest independent sleep lab test (Schyvens 2025 - 62 healthy adults) it landed near the top for sleep staging for wrist based wearables, just behind Apple Watch. In a separate study of sleep clinic patients (Lee 2023 - 75 sleep clinic patients) it didn't drop accuracy like the others, scoring virtually the same in clinical vs healthy sleepers. Most trackers typically read better on healthy people and fall apart on clinical patients so that consistency is a real point in it's favor. None of these studies are Google or Fitbit funded.

Summary across the studies:

  • Pixel Watch and Fitbit scored almost identically in the one study that tested both. Pixel Watch scored 0.40, Fitbit 0.42, on the standard 0 to 1 accuracy scale. The authors group them in the same performance tier, and a gap that size is mostly noise.
  • Total sleep time is a strength. Off by only about 6 to 11 minutes on how long you slept, one of the smallest misses of any wrist device.
  • The sleep stage split is weaker. Like every wearable it's only "moderate" at splitting light, deep, and REM stages. Best to treat your deep and REM breakdown as a guide, not an exact readout.
  • Nobody nails wake. Similar to all other wearables tested here it's not great at catching when you are lying awake in bed, so total sleep can read high.
  • Consistency is impressive. It scored about 0.42 for healthy sleepers and it held at 0.42 with clinical patients. Apple for example fell from 0.53 in healthy sleepers to 0.30 in patients.
  • The Google update looks like it should help. Google published its own (2026 research report) showing their newer sleep algorithm scored more accurately against lab studies than the older Fitbit one (agreement rose from about 0.56 to 0.63). It's their own study though, not independent, so take it with a grain of salt.

Tried my best to keep this helpful yet concise. I'll include the full comparison in the comments if you'd like to see how the other brands compared as well as all sources.

Does anyone know how to turn this off permanently. I have turned it off in both the watch settings and the app but it keeps turning itself back on.

Pixel Watch 3 45mm to the 4 in the same size + metal mesh band

Had a Pixel 3 45mm LTE and almost went for the 5 with my google credit from buying the 11 pro, but decided to get a new Watch 4 WiFi only on eBay instead for $120 less overall price. Because the 5 is only using a tweaked Gen 2 chipset, it is a very very high chance the 6 comes out with an actual next gen chipset. I'll wait for the bigger upgrade, don't need the RAM.

The watch 3 to 4 is a welcome upgrade. The gen 2 chipset is definitely a noticeable upgrade in speed from the 3. After a long time of never using the LTE on the 3, I disabled mobile data. The battery life was good, but not two full days good, the 4 is.

Also the screen and the tweaked slightly dome shape and smaller bezels is a gamechanger to me. The first time I put on the watch 4, it was so much more aesthetically pleasing and watch looking.

I used part of my Google credit to buy the black metal mesh band, and it is very high quality. Feels and looks great, both casual and dressier. Pricy, but the $300 in Google credit helped make that decision easy.

I got the Misxi black case with screen protector on it, and I dig it quite a bit. First time using a case with a Pixel watch, and I had the 1, 2, and 3. The Spigen won was just too bulky and casual looking.

Not a fan of Google the company ethically, but the 11 pro and the watch 4 (and by extension the watch 5) are such a great pairing.

I am excited to get my hand on the new Pixel Watch 5 with the P11P XL 📱 bundle during the promo week. Before this watch I was using the Galaxy Watch 2. This is such a smooth and functional watch with great 🔋 life.

Edit: the watch face is Pip Boy 3.0 from Facer app in Play Store.

Incredibly odd warranty situation (no resolution - Pixel Watch 4)

I'll try to make this brief. Got a watch as a gift a number of months ago, presumbly bought from Target (as I've identified via ChatGPT from the yellow sticker/barcode shown in the photo). So, here goes the weirdness:

Tried to factory reset as I was going to sell the watch, and I got an error - libfs_mgr unable to enable ext4 verity. Couldn't get it to load. Nothing worked; recovery mode, etc.

At first, I searched my repair options in Google. Warranty showed 3/23/27. Told myself I'd send it in a few days since it was covered. Fast forward a few days later and I head back to the repair site to start the process, when low and behold, the warranty now says expired. Unreal.

So, I start chatting, and then emails, back and forth for weeks, with Google simply shutting me down at every turn, and claiming my warranty expired back in May of 2026; which shouldn't be possible when the watch was only released in October of 2025, therefore being less than the 1 year warranty.

They claim the device was replaced. It never was. I unsealed it myself when it was brand new and never sent it in for a replacement. So I'm just baffled and at a loss.

Any advice?

Emergency info not appearing?

So you press and hold, hit "Emergency info" and my name and emergency contact appears, but not my emergency information. I've checked all the boxes, given permission to share emergency info without unlocking. Not sure what I'm missing.

Is burn-in (uneven oled wear) still an issue?

• Upvotes

Hi all,

I just got a pixel watch 5 and I'm in doubt of using the always on display. I've had a pixel watch 2 that I wore in phases (sometimes more Fitbit Charge and later air), but I've never used the always on display. Am I at risk of getting permanent burn in (uneven oled wear) if I turn this setting on? Couldn't find any topics on this subreddit, which seems promising.

Thanks in advance!

Workouts on Watch?

This is an embarrassing question, this should be super straightforward.

I have a pixel watch 5. I created a custom workout in Google health on my pixel phone. How do I send it to my watch? Gemini says to sync it, but it's synced, Gemini doesn't seem to know what it's talking about.

Switched from Samsung products to Pixel. Had an S24 Ultra and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Absolutely love that I made the switch. My first Pixel since the Pixel 2. It's been so long I can't remember which one it was.

Anyways, picked up the strap adapters from StrapHabit, strap is from Uncle Seiko, and protector is from Amazon.

Looking for a screen protect solution

I've been using a hydrogel film on my pw4, but he doesn't really cover the edge or curve of the screen, and gets peeled off once a week.

Another thing i got is a TPU case but it's very clumsy.

What are you using to protect your pw?

I was wondering if anyone found some protective film or glass protection that handles the watch's curve

PW5 Bumper Case without screen protector

Any one found a PW5 Bumper Case without screen protector that has the charging connections so I don't have to take it on and off when I charge it?

I had this one for my PW3 and liked the lack of bulk and just had a screen protector underneath that lasted years because the bumper case held it on. Not seeing anything like this one available anywhere.

So many 2nd-hand PW are "unlocked" 😑

New to Pixel watches and smart watches in general. I have decent enough "techy" knowledgeable but nothing like developer status. I bought a used PW4 LTE that was "unlocked" and I mistakenly thought that meant it wasn't tied to a data carrier, not that the device software itself was unlocked. So now I can't use the watch for tap to pay (see screenshots). Did some reddit/YT research and attempted without luck some ABD/Fastboot resets. Luckily, I can return the watch to the seller. In my continued search for another PW4, soooooo many of them are also unlocked. Is that how they all come? Is the 2nd-hand market currently just unlocked watches? I hope my ignorance is at fault here and this is less a big deal than I'm assuming.

So I was up and down if I wanted to switch from Apple fully and well... I did it!

I got myself the 41mm PW5 and am loving it so far!

It's comfortable, looks more watch like and I forget I even have it on. It also doesn't feel clunky near my wrist.

Also the battery life is impeccable! Ive had it on over 24 hours now and I'm still at 54% battery. By now my apple watch would be anywhere between 20-30%!

Switched fully from apple to pixel this past week and honestly the watch has been the nicest part. Just having a round face rather than apples square setup is so much more pleasing

Anyone went from a Sammy Classic to P4/P5?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have a Pixel phone, and a Samsung Classic 8, I just preferred the classic look.

However I'm frustrated with Samsung as I didn't realise, especially being Android thinking it was open, that they lock some health features behind it not being paired to a Samsung phone.

So I'm thinking of getting a Pixel 5, may as well go newest although I'm lead to believe there's very minor differences between the 4 and 5. I think they sync a lot better, all features work, DND switch on watch and does to phone etc.

I'm still not sure on the look though, but I've seen a case like this, but can't see any in UK. It slots in and makes it look i suppose a bit like a Sammy Classic. The pixel watch to me seems very exposed to scratches with it's domed display.

Has anyone gone from Sammy Classic 6 or 8 to Pixel watch?

Need option to select SIM while calling

As its in the mobile , the option which lets you select the sim from which you want to make the call after you have dialed a number and hit that call button, why we cant have an option in my pixel watch. This option feels so useful if provided
